his decision making was poor, he held onto the ball too long, and he doesn't create many chances or have much in the way of career assists to his name. Because his team mates stood still and gazed amazed. What has happened before or after in his temporary post-Stoke career I don't really have much knowledge about. And I'm not holding my breath for his career at Rayo. It's the wrong move for them, but also for us, because we don't get the chance to see if he now can fulfill his potential - in the event that we sent a scout to follow up on him, like some other clubs do. No, because he took too long to release it and the chance was gone. Nobody else is to blame for his failings.

Well actually I agree he did hold on to the ball, but you could see him looking around for a free man to pass to and there wasn't any.

There frequently were, I remember numerous times shouting for him to lay the ball off to wide players in space; he didn't do it. Let's hope he does well at Rayo and we can get rid. Even if he should do well - which I very much doubt - we won't "get rid". Rayo will never be able to pay his wages, evn if Stoke reduced his fee to a small sum, which again won't happen, because Stoke will look to recoup at least 50% or more from what he cost when he came here. Of course you would hope Stoke would see sense and reduce the transfer fee even further and Imbula would take a 200% wage cut, but neither will happen. Stoke are too miserly and Imbula only has his eye on the bank tiller. So we are stuck in a stalemate until 2021 (2022 at the very latest), when he can leave on a free or he may choose/be forced to retire, as no one will be willing to take a chance on a rebel like him. If he is the sort to lay aside a few quids, he will do so with a huge amount in the tank, all thanks to Peter Coates and Stoke's supporters.

Imbula is an absolute waster.
Hopefully this gets pushed through and hopefully he changes a habit of a lifetime and plays well for a season.

Hope this is true. One of worst signings I can recall for money spent / return. Waste of talent which is hard to judge if he even has some.

Imbula does not understand how to play football.
He has literally one skill, get the ball, run forward, try to take someone on. It can look flashy at first, but it soon becomes apparent that it literally ends there. Once he got found out teams just prepared for him to do it and took the ball off him.
There is nothing else to his game, not a single thing. He is, basically, completely rubbish.
Etebo and Allen are far better players, as is the departing Ndiaye. I've don't know anything about them but I suspect Clucas and Woods are too. Fletcher, Affelay, Adam and Cameron were all better, and even though they are various combinations of old or fucked, probably still are. We probably have other midfielders I can't remember who are better.
I don't understand why anyone would consider having him anywhere near the first team.

The deadline for loans is Friday, so now we’ve got Imbula on a plane to Spain to agree a loan deal with a Spanish club who have just had their ground closed down until the earliest mid October. So that would presumably mean very little income and that means no wages for players? I can see this panning out to be your typical Stoke deal .

I was absolutely slaughtered on here for saying he was our biggest flop since Kitson, after he'd played 10 games for us.
Granted since him we've arguably had two worse with Diaye and Wimmer - but still. Bow down to me!

With Rayo's stadium closed down - and who's to say the planned re-opening will be in October, just ask Spurs' fans - and all their home games to be played at the reverse grounds, Rayo will have little income and plenty of expenses fortwith. So can they even pay 10% of Imbula's wages?
If not he could cheer up Stokie fans as he hangs around a while longer...

We don't know what goes on behind closed doors I suppose..... but I wouldn't just blindly trust Gary's judgement. We did that for four games and ended up with dodgy Darren in midfield.

Self-appraised "too good for the C'ship" etc.
But obviously these are unsubstantiated (I think?) but with the lack of current flair on view in the first few games, frustrating he was sat on his arris not even on the bench.
But yes, only slightly less head scratching than Geoff being on the naughty step also.

I think he'd be a huge asset for us in the Championship but if he is acting the dick (and we just don't know) then it's best that he leaves too

It complicates the operation Imbula-Rayo VALLECANO. The player is in Madrid waiting for the closing of the deal but there are economic problems. His salary is pretty high, Rayo can't afford it all and Stoke doesn't want to take part in the chip. It's not ruled out but it paints hard
