Two pieces of environmental de-regulation news: First - 40 miles of beaches tainted by sewage. Every beach along a 40 mile stretch of coastline between Hastings and Brighton is polluted with sewage, data show. Two E Sussex beaches were closed on Wednesday after Southern Water's systems failed and untreated sewage was released. At several other beaches, heavy rain meant the company released raw sewage into the sea. The race to the bottom, quite literally. Think of the money those coastal local authorities can save- close the public toilets and tell people to cut out the middle man and just shit in the sea.

oh delightful, fancy a dip anyone? good to see our ruling party of law and order are holding the water companies to account after we left the EU (who outrageously created laws for cleaner water and beaches). the sewage situation is getting worse daily. All the rivers, all the beaches, literally full of shit. Shit government + shit regulations + shit environmental concern + shit concern for public health = a cesspool of a country 💩💩💩😪😪😪💩💩💩 As I said above this government don't care a shit as long as there getting there kickbacks Your health does not matter just remember why we have sanitation cholera diphtheria other water borne diseases all during the rest stink We used to throw shit into the streets what the water companies are doing with the governments approval is just as bad if not worce

I hope that people have started to realise that the fundamental policies of the Tory party are what have got us into this mess Free market economy and survival of the fittest not only leads to mass profits for the rich at the expense of the worker's but also allows companies to charge what they want once they have eliminated the competitor The yory philosophy is based on gread and no regards for any one else you could say they are the narcissistic party and looking at boris ey ell you can see why
Let the last election reach you a lesson and hang your head on shame if you voted Tory never do it again
As I've said many times vote anti Tory

I think we should be more grateful because I've been reliably informed on here that it would be much worse if we were in EU

Useless fish. If they couldn't survive in that river alone they should've had a second or third river, or just tried harder.

Raab more interested in paddle boarding in Crete than the fate of Afghans who had worked with the British Army. Another of the co-authors of 'Britannia Unchained' who called British workers 'lazy'.

Two E Sussex beaches were closed on Wednesday after Southern Water's systems failed and untreated sewage was released. At several other beaches, heavy rain meant the company released raw sewage into the sea. Second - Truss vows to drop green planning rule. Liz Truss wants to drop an environmental rule blamed for slowing down the construction of more than 100,000 homes is she becomes prime minister. The Foreign Secretary is planning to get rid of the so-called "nutrient neutrality" requirement, brought in after a ECJ ruling in 2018. The rule requires developers to detail the impact of their proposals on rivers and wetlands and to promise measures to mitigate damage. The environment is in safe hands. This is close to our hearts in the South Hams of Devon. Our local river Yealm was polluted by an overflow from community sewage treatment plant, about 3 years ago, causing the closure of the oyster farm and loss of 4 jobs. In a freedom of information request by our parish council SWW admitted to over 400 sewage spills into the Yealm over a 2 year period. An urgent public meeting with a manager of SWW was convened because there were real concerns that future house building in the village would put even further strain on the sewage plant. He admitted that the 400 incidents were the tip of the iceberg because, at that time, water authorities only needed to report on spillages over 4 cubic meters as the Environment Agency are not interested in anything under this amount no matter how often it occurs. The SWW bloke deflected any blame by saying that the sewage plant was often overwhelmed during heavy rain because surface water was somehow getting into the sewage drains instead of ground soak aways. At that time this was under investigation by SWW. 3 years later nothing has changed. SWW have, by far, the highest water charges in U.K.

It would be nice if we put people and the environment before profits instead of the other way round. Although some would consider that to be sanctimonious knicker-wetting, probably.
