A terrible thing. And not unique. I had personal experience of this recently (not me, but someone very close of a similar age) and many moons ago (with someone in similar circumstances). But hyperbolic pish reporting that you lap up as usual. Scoring cheap political points out of other people’s misfortunes. Pathetic. Well, I hope you told those people on the end of those personal experiences to stop whining... As it happens, they didn’t whine. It’s not a condition everyone suffers from, or chooses to wallow in. Not everyone is as lame as you. Thankfully.

I'm thinking ....shoot me before I get old tbh 40 hour wait for an ambulance for a 90 year old after a fall It's pretty scary what is going on while this Government is on leave. It just seems like a plan to grind down the NHS until full privatisation becomes the only viable option. A lot of suffering to get there though. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-62601863

oh delightful, fancy a dip anyone?
good to see our ruling party of law and order are holding the water companies to account after we left the EU (who outrageously created laws for cleaner water and beaches).
the sewage situation is getting worse daily. All the rivers, all the beaches, literally full of shit.

Boris still on holiday? "Across the UK, growing numbers of traders are taking the difficult decision to close their doors for good in the face of unaffordable costs driven by record inflation, with some reporting tenfold increases in utility bills. In yet another flashing red light for the economy, which is forecast by the Bank of England to fall into recession next year, data published on Friday by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) shows that a majority of firms – 53% – expect to stagnate, shrink or close in the coming 12 months." www.theguardian.com/money/2022/aug/19/uk-small-businesses-forced-to-close-by-soaring-energy-bills

Sewage spills by water companies have risen by almost 30x over the last five years. 100,533 hours of raw sewage entered watercourses in 2016; 2,667,452 hours last year. Cutting taxes, doing everything as cheaply as possible: de-regulation won't help that figure improve. Be afraid where this country is heading.

Sacking 800 folk on the spot because you know it won't go through consultation with unions and replacing them with poorly trained replacements presenting serious health and safety concerns not illegal apparently - what a fucking cesspit we frequent: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-62613625Surprise surprise P&O's parent company reported record profit so Liz Truss will have a damp minge over that and proles should shut the fuck up moaning no doubt. Its just the free market unless of course their mates need a bailout or a ppe contract.

Be under no illusion, beyond their pretence to be appalled by this, not only will this kind of thing become commonplace, it will be actively encouraged and facilitated by the dangerous extremists about to take over this country.

Two pieces of environmental de-regulation news:
First - 40 miles of beaches tainted by sewage.
Every beach along a 40 mile stretch of coastline between Hastings and Brighton is polluted with sewage, data show. Two E Sussex beaches were closed on Wednesday after Southern Water's systems failed and untreated sewage was released. At several other beaches, heavy rain meant the company released raw sewage into the sea.
Second - Truss vows to drop green planning rule.
Liz Truss wants to drop an environmental rule blamed for slowing down the construction of more than 100,000 homes is she becomes prime minister. The Foreign Secretary is planning to get rid of the so-called "nutrient neutrality" requirement, brought in after a ECJ ruling in 2018. The rule requires developers to detail the impact of their proposals on rivers and wetlands and to promise measures to mitigate damage.
The environment is in safe hands.

Ambulance delays put 40,000 patients at risk last month. Figures published by the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives showed that 40,000 figure is 11% up on the previous month. The West Midlands Ambulance Service revealed that 68 people died since April as a result of ambulance delays and in some cases patients are waiting up to 17 hours for an ambulance. I doubt that cutting taxes will fix that. Could try privatising ambulances as well I suppose.
