1.2% higher than the EU average. Higher than some countries, lower than others.

Privatisation of our railways was a criminal act and we are still being ripped off. Worst service in Europe and the most expensive and those in power here don't give a shit.

1.2% higher than the EU average. Higher than some countries, lower than others. The government should be terrified by this. The US had seen a marginal drop in inflation which would indicate their policies are working. Yes we have lower rates than countries who're self harming like Turkey and Russia but we're right near the top of the pack for the rest and it has been a late and meek response to it. The BoE were slow with interest rates and the government have been even slower on fiscal policies. I have an incredible disliking for Sunak but his respect for inflation is admirable.

I might start a petition to get monuments of our recent chancellors in parliament square. 'These great minds steered the UK economy to have half the inflation of Estonia.'

According to every source I have seen France 6.8% Sweden 8.3% Germany 8.5% Italy 8.6% UK 10.1% Spain (10.7%) and Netherlands (11.6%) above UK July 2022 www.statista.com/statistics/225698/monthly-inflation-rate-in-eu-countries/

We are only just ahead of the EU average. What’s also worth noting, from the same source, is in the relegation zone in the G20 list. We’re in a bad way.

Yes, these are the figures I was looking at. also www.statista.com/statistics/225698/monthly-inflation-rate-in-eu-countries/though I usually cross-check them with several others too. The EU average is increased by countries like Lithuania with inflation rates of 22% and a few others, so the EU comparison could be used as a misleading stat taken in isolation without context. One difference is the difference in impact on consumers While Netherlands rate is high, according to my friends there no-one there will be paying more than 1500 Euros per year for energy (I'll double check whether this has been revised). The Government have capped it at that. I think the same in Germany.

'These great minds steered the UK economy to have half the inflation of Estonia.' Just pointing out a few facts. A man went for a ride in a hot air balloon. The balloon went very high, up above the clouds. Eventually they managed to get down and landed in a field. They saw an ignorant looking peasant. ‘Where are we?’ they asked. ‘You are in the basket of a hot air balloon in the corner of a field’ said the ignorant looking peasant. ‘Tell me, ignorant looking peasant, your name is Henry, isn’t it?’ ‘Yes it is, ‘ said the ignorant looking peasant. ‘How did you know?’ ‘Your reply was factually correct, but of no value whatsoever, ‘ said the man in the balloon.

Anyone who is not old enough or can't remember what the Tories have been like in the past just watch or see blood brothers especially just another time of the times
Written by willy Russell it is one of the most funny sad and commentary musicals of Thatchers Britain
Even none musical lovers like the full show can be found on YouTube

Mate...you've lost the plot. Suspect you're right. There's got to be something seriously wrong with you if, in the middle of an unprecedented cost of living crisis, you respond to someone talking about people contacting their MP on the verge of suicide, by saying it's just whining. Tories often get upset when non-Tories say that they seem selfish, uncaring, individuals purely out for themselves and fuck everyone else, well, this is why.

A terrible thing. And not unique. I had personal experience of this recently (not me, but someone very close of a similar age) and many moons ago (with someone in similar circumstances). But hyperbolic pish reporting that you lap up as usual. Scoring cheap political points out of other people’s misfortunes. Pathetic.
