Correct The cafe owners in the labour heartlands are shitting themselves over the prospect of soy lattes and avocado on sourdough sales dropping off a cliff Considering you don't work pal, it seems strange to me that you're attacking Starmer with every post instead of Liz Truss who'll have you freezing this winter and not give a toss. Well if you’d bothered to look at more than a few selective posts No one on this board has been more dismissive of truss than me On the point of starmer you might be prepared to tolerate what some describe as a least worse solution Myself he will remain a unprincipled fence sitting backstabbing charlatan And the fact through disability I’m no longer able to work ( having worked hard for many years ) shouldn’t alter my political views I for one don’t bend to a favourable wind

Weren't higher wages on of the 'Brexit Benefits' we could all look forward to? They would be higher if we weren't putting up 20,000 migrants a year in the Hilton. Etc. Hold on, wasn't taking back control of our borders one of the 'Brexit Benefits' we could all look forward to? Shit, that doesn't work, does it?

Why would a household limit require means testing? It could be based on usage not earnings.

The Water Company Cartels were handed over Debt Free. Since then they have racked up £50Bn of Debt and paid out £57Bn Dividents mostly to Foreign Governments/Shareholders Inexplicably there are some on this MB who defend their record on Service and Environment Meanwhile the average Salary for the nine Fat Cat Bosses was £1.7M as they oversee record levels of shit being pumped into our Rivers and Seas, while urging workers to show wage restraint Country, Dogs etc www.google.com/amp/s/www.mirror.co.uk/money/fat-cat-water-firm-bosses-26229950.amp

Just noticed yet another program that makes fun of the government is cancelled by the Tory mouthpiece the BBC with mock the week being cancelled that's 3 programmes now at least critical of government now axed when will Tory censorship end Tory mouthpiece? According to some, I thought the Government was trying to emasculate the B.B.C. by freezing the Licence Fee while competitors could recruit some of the best reporters by offering them more money. What the B.B.C. pays its top earners is in the public domain. What competitors can offer by way of inducements is not.

As the article suggests it's not quite worked out like that.

Mortgage and savings rate gap is the biggest for 15 years. Banks have been quick to pass on the BoE rate rise to their mortgage borrowers, not so quick for their savers.
Mel Stride (Con), Chairman of the Treasury select committee of MPs, said that it may have to investigate whether or not banks were playing fair. "With inflation eating away at people's money, it's all the more important that people get the best possible return on their savings. It's therefore disappointing that some banks don't appear to be rising to this challenge. This is something the committee may want to look at".
You may want to look into something we all know is basically a scam we all suffer from? Fucking hell, Mel, don't strain yourself, will you! I mean it's not like energy companies are reaping in record profits while the people suffer extortionate bills or anything. Let's allow the banks to also do a bit of shameless profiteering first shall we, while you and the rest of the committee have a think about it.

I imagine the Tories will use nudge theory to suggest the bank close the gap, rather than simply regulate to make them change immediately.

Monopoly Cartel and Foreign Ownership with no incentive to invest in infrastructure. Throw in a useless Regulator who have an incentive to retain status quo because to call out the problems would cause them to actually do their job properly I am not ideologically opposed to Privatisation but fail to fathom how a Monopoly fits the Model especially putting a National Resource vital to people's survival effectively into Foreign Ownership

It’s a pretty devastating piece on how water privatisation has failed and left us in a worse position than we were in previously. But, that previous position wasn’t good either. Fundamentally the issue in both cases has been a failure to invest. Although the causes for that failure are different. We should probably move this discussion on how best state utility services can be delivered to another thread, because it’s an interesting and challenging topic and transcends the current government’s activities. If there is an appropriate thread.

I hear fatso has returned from his second holiday this month and decamped straight to the official country retreat (at additional cost to the taxpayer) to wind down a little more before hitting the lecture circuit and composing his racist polemics for what he calls 'the real money'.
Then again we can't have this for poor old de Pfeffel can we....
