Back when I became a Stoke fan, the season before the Holocaust, it was always the tradition that we got behind our own players and supported them through thick and thin....and in the holocaust season there was a lot of "thin", believe me. Back then we reserved this kind of ire for the opposition, whose players were always thick useless unskilled tossers unfit to grace a football pitch. We got behind the manager that season as well We did, and rightly so. Bill Asprey had done a great job the previous season talking over from Ritchie Barker, and kept us up. I was there for us beating Wolves 4-0 on the last day of the season. No manager could have done better the following year. We just didn't have any talent left, but every player gave their all regardless. Asprey even sacrificed his own health trying to get it right.

Being a successful Premiership club (which we ARE!) never gets old for me.

I was just saying that I remember it well, last year of high school and stood in the Boothen End. I went all the home games, and some away the next season......

I agree with the Berahino is shit comment but not the hilarious bit. Its not funny now with the money spent on him (and still being spent with his wages)and nothing to show for it.

There are even posts from me during our eventual prem promotion season, saying it was too early, we weren't ready, and we would just drop straight back down. I got that a bit wrong I think.... Back in the day, I reckoned Mick Mills would take us straight back up. I was green as the grass on the pitch. Reality soon dawned......

Just been offered 8-1 for Saido to score ten + league goals this season...can't work out if that is stingy or not? Source Paddy Power... I think the 500/1 on Elvis being found riding Shergar down Oxford Street provides better value. Just got back from London. You'll never guess who galloped past me on the way to Marble Arch... ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/0m0lbCuTEBzaRn6f8QaM.gif)

We have a good player who needs to find his form, once he does it'll all be good. We don't generally sign proven players on top form, they're too expensive. We sign players with some potential that we reckon we can get something out of. Sometimes this works, other times it doesn't. That's how it goes.

He's definitely got the movement to come good. Like how he's always on the shoulder of the last defender. Hughes said when he signed that the other players will have to get used to his movement and what ball he likes. Shaq produced exactly that at Watford. It will come good. 10 months later he still hasn't coached the players to play the perfect ball for Berahino !, so it is all the fault of the other players I see now ![(slaphead)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/x7GhxArXJzjvmIlugu2X.gif) nothing to do with him been useless at all.

How did he do on Saturday?
I've only seen MOTD, probably should have buried that chance at the end sadly.

If he does come good as I hope and think he will there's alot of humble pie to be ate by a few on here. Think they will be genuinely gutted to see him score regularly and prove them wrong,

If he isn't getting the chances, he's had very few, then whos fault is it, he makes the runs etc but doesn't get the service, how can you not see it, the ball by Shaq was fantastic but I can't think of another he's had this season.

All our other forwards are hampered by the same lack of service, all of them bar none seem to find a way of scoring at least some goals.

He did more in the short time he was on the pitch than Moting did the entire game, not a big surprise as he's not a striker, which begs the question, why does he persist in playing Moting up top when he clearly can't do it.

Yeh, lumping it long will always work eventually, its a weak argument, its not as if they are smashing them in left right and centre, this season or last.

It is an odd one. From the get go from when he's played Jese and Moting there, they have done absolutely sod all and look so poor there. Which as you say is no surprise. Hopefully he'll learn.

You're going to some absolutely extraordinary lengths to defend a player who hasn't scored since David Cameron was Prime Minister and Brexit was a 12/1 longshot at the bookies!

Yes, he missed on Saturday but it was a good save and it wasn't the easiest chance on the planet. Good keeping, poor finishing. One of those will go in. Confidence boost. Next.

No but believe it or not we’re still the NINTH most free scoring team in the Premier League.

i've got a crazy idea, lets play 4-4-2 and play Diouf and Saido up front together
the answer to what we need is probably right under our noses. I'd wager they form a great partnership, be a handful and score quite a few

Play him every game between now an Christmas and give him a chance to see if he still has it. If he hasn’t scored 5-6 goals, send him out on loan in January.
