Seems obvious this morning that the mandate for a "hard" Brexit has not been achieved.
So a "soft" Brexit it will be.
But what is a soft Brexit?
As far as I can tell it means access to the single market.
Of course a condition for which is accepting the four freedoms of Europe; the movement of goods, capital, services and (yes) labour. Not forgetting shelling out a big wad of cash for the privilege. The Swiss model. There is now probably enough folk in parliament prepared to accept those terms, so is this the future for Brexit Britain?
If so - expect further ructions inside the Tory party and, possibly, the return of Sir Nige riding to the rescue.

They sense that there will be only one winner

They sense that there will be only one winner I think Brussels would very much like terms like the ones above and I can see them pushing for it hard and quickly. Not only do they retain the sacrosanct movements and may well get even more money from the UK but they don't have to worry anymore about our veto's, opt outs, rebates and general bellyaching. Those pain au chocolat pastries and café au laits will be tasting sweet this morning across the channel.

People are celebrating not honouring democracy. People actually like getting rodded by the EU. Nobody can come out of it properly, it's not allowed. Labour are a convenient sideshow.

Imo a lot of people voted against may beacuase they feel hoodwinked into voting brexit.the lies they swallowed make them feel embarrassed. Its no surprise that when they won the vote neither farage or johnson wanted the mantle of seeing it thru.at the moment the country is the laughing stock of the world, we were once world leaders that is how far we have sunk

Forget austerity, defence, education, health, tuition fees, care costs, pensions. There is only 1 policy that the publics position is known on and that is the 1 we had a referendum on less than 12 months ago. Anyone pretending this general election changes that is basing it purely on their personal opinion.

I agree, if its done over a table or over anything the end result will probably be messy unless precautions are taken

Gina Miller has just been on and she's positively orgasmic. Everything has been done to scupper it since the result, the media love this because they hated it, too. Get used to ridiculous levels of immigration and getting bummed by the EU forever. Yay!

tories should have super charged the brexit issue, gone hard on it. The biggest mistake was made appointing May as leader of the party a year ago, replacing a remain PM with another remainer caused massive doubt in more labourite wing of UKIP supporters, they weighed it up and came to the conclusion there's not much difference between May and Corbyn on brexit so they migrated back home to labour.

It affects Brexit in practical terms. All else is positioning and bluster
As a nation we will now go into the negotiations in a piss weak position with a laughing stock, lame duck leader.
It is unnecessary and it is entirely the fault of an arrogant, complacent, self-serving and incompetent Tory Party, yet again putting Party interests before those of the Country by calling an opportunistic election.
Let the scales start to drop from your eyes now and consider Larry, Curly and Moe at the Brexit Ministry in the cold light of today. An intellectual lightweight, a buffoon and a swivel-eyed idealogue. Does anyone seriously have confidence in these comedians?
REALLY ??????

But what is a soft Brexit? It's a term bandied about by politicians. It has never been defined. Nobody knows what it means, but politicians think that it makes themselves look cool every time they use the phrase.

If anything good can come out of this charade then its that people have had their eyes opened to the fact that they were lied to about the benefits of leaving not the EU but the Single Market (of which the majority or at least those brave enough to admit it, had little understanding of the difference of a year ago)
May was forced to placate the hard right by pursing a hard Brexit at any cost (jobs, NHS, whatever - they don't care) Their minority agenda was always about the benefits that they would gain over and above the majority and we were simply pawns in the whole sorry fiasco.
10 years plus of austerity has no consequence to them and their ilk so at least we may now go into Brexit in a manner that seeks the best outcome for the working man and not the elite.

The EU is nothing but a corrupted virus that willingly enacts the evil policies of The NWO, policies that lead to madness such as Jihadis entering out country directly from warzones to decapitate our children. When you compare that thought with the fact that football hooligans are not allowed to travel abroad it's crystal clear evidence that this isn't incompetence. The death, destruction and chaos we have been experiencing, and will continue to experience at an increasing rate heading into the future, is all deliberate and planned. It's the only viable explanation. Some cunts are profiting from all this shit.
I will fight this fucking organisation and all those who haven't found or taken their red pills yet. I feel so passionately I will lay down my fucking life for the cause, if it ever comes to that. Hopefully we can achieve what's needed through purely democratic means, unfortunately it's starting to seem like the goalposts are being moved to shit on democracy.

Brexit was never about the money for me, or the terms and conditions. It's about identity , who we are and not wanting to be a small part of a federalist Europe run by the Germans with the backing of the French frog marched into single state (excuse the pun.
Already they are going ahead with a European Army something we had vetoed.
The second world war bankrupted this country and the Americans took our place as world leaders, but it was the right thing to do no matter the cost and in my opinion the same applies to Brexit.

Brexit will be so soft we won't even notice it happen. Europe has the whip hand, the south of the country has made it clear to both parties that voters will not tolerate a Brexit that messes the economy up, UKIP is a spent force and no leader has the power to force a deal through the Commons and especially the Lords. Brexit is back to what it was, an internal issue for the Tory party.

If so - expect further ructions inside the Tory party and, possibly, the return of Sir Nige riding to the rescue. a quote from Sept 2016: 'Hard” and “soft” Brexit are not clearly-defined positions. They are usually thought of as being the UK getting no deal with the EU at all, and relying on WTO rules to trade with the EU (“hard Brexit”) and the UK staying as a member of the Single Market, like Norway (“soft Brexit”). But the eventual outcome may be somewhere in the middle, and a “hard” Brexit could mean the UK getting a rather limited trade deal with Europe, such as one that abolishes tariffs for goods but does not safeguard services firms, while a “soft” Brexit could mean Single Market-like rules governing certain sectors (such as finance) but not others.

But what is a soft Brexit? This is the nub of the whole thing. Nobody knows what the Brexit deal will be until it's all agreed then it'll be called..... Brexit. Not soft, red, blue, hard etc. Just Brexit. The UK was only ever 50% of the conversation so the final plan is impossible to predict and therefore impossible to pigeon hole. Hard and soft were just soundbites made up to sway people.
