The guy was a complete waste of money. Not played in 2 years, a bad full of issues, why the hell didn't we jack in our interest in him long long ago. A pointless signing.

ALL of the centre forwards Hughes has brought to the club have flopped, let's not forget that before totally writing off Berahino.

We had a very capable striker that scored was it 14-15 in his first season having missed the whole of Jan! the problem is NOT our strikers!

Fair point Paul and one borne out of so much frustration (again) this season..

Hughes has stated that we will see the best of him next season. Thus, playing him regularly gives the impression that this seasons results May get lucky or be written off. This is difficult for anyone who has paid their money expecting things to " happen" this season. Hughes has nailed his colours to a Berahino mast. You have to wonder what Diouff, Bony, Joselu, Bojan may have done with the same luxury of selection. Even Crouch, Walters, or Shaqiri don't seem to have been given that luxury of comfort without end product, before being dropped. As for Muniesia and Sobhi.............if selection is based upon principle I.e who is playing well, then such anomalies surely should not happen ? If it's not based upon such principles, then all the conspiracy theories and vitriol that are being thrown at the management appear deserved if not substantiated.
He absolutely has to stick with Berahino starting, if he doesn't, then (with Imbula not even making the bench) he (and he absolutely knows it) virtually signs his own P45.
If their signings had been the other way round (chronologically), then he'd be sticking with Imbula now.
All about politics.
Nail. Head. Hit.

He doesn't exactly look a bargain so far, but if he scores goals and plays well next season I'll be happy..

He is getting a lot of excuses on this thread such as:
Hes not a hold-up striker Hes not fit yet Hes low on confidence His strength isnt heading He needs better support to get chances He needs through-balls to run onto
Even Hughes is coming out with excuses saying he needs to be more selfish
So as fans we need to set our expectations to ZERO for Berahino this season. Any goal he scores will be a bonus then? Great

It's funny (strange) how things go sometimes. Remember last summer there were 3 supposedly hot 'B named' strikers knocking around being Bony, Benteke and Berahino and lots of debate about whether we would sign one of them and which was the best. The sense was Benteke had the aerial power, Bony the strength and finishing ability and Berahino had that 'x-factor' the ability to dump a defender flat on his backside. Well we ended up with 2 of them and got the best part of bugger all out of either of them, meantime Benteke went to Palace and has notched 14 Prem goals in 31 matches

ALL of the centre forwards Hughes has brought to the club have flopped, let's not forget that before totally writing off Berahino. I'd liked to have seen Joselu get more of a run. The issue is that we've taken players who have proven they can score (Diouf at Hannover) and played them out of position, not played them consistently or not given them enough time to click. This combined with a merrygoround of changes in personnel and formation means they don't stand a chance.

Whether Berahino succeeds or not, how anyone can think we don't need a striker shake up is beyond me. Joselu must be on his way as the loan offers him the exit he needs, Crouch and Walters are palpably not the way forward and Diouf is hardly given a chance to play down the middle. Bony isn't ours anyway so he won't be anywhere near us next season. Pinning our hopes on Saido coming good is a high risk strategy and expecting the creaking legs and lungs of Crouch and Walters to help us through 2017/18 is bordering on the insane. Why the hell would we not buy another striker?

You should get the Fall reference there, being from Prestwich 😀 I did mate, and I walked past Mark E Smith's house only this morning when I walked the kids to their before school club. Been past his house possibly a thousand times and still only seen him once putting his bin out. Whereas Guy Garvey from Elbow goes to my gym and the missus' church and I'm sick of seeing him.... :-)

Palace signed Benteke for £27m rising to £32m. We didn't, we went for the £12m rising to £15m option. All ludicrous amounts of money I know, but unfortunately par for the course these days. A '20 goal a season striker' now seems to come in around £30m+.
