Tomorrow’s going to be a very interesting day. When will the results be announced? I have a feeling that whoever wins there’ll be fireworks and claims of dirty tricks. It depends on how close it is. Here's a description. It's pretty likely the polls in key states will be off but we just don't know which way or how much. If Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan polls are off by say 5% either way then I think the results will be called Tuesday UK time. If it's as close as before in all the states then it could take days. If it's a Harris win but it's close, we won't know who will get in power until potentially January because the republicans have a strategy planned to commit a coup and install Trump anyway. If Trump wins then it's over. It almost sounds like it could be a civil war. Crazy times.

Got to say I'm seeing a ton of what looks like cope from pro-democracy people.
"People are fired up for Harris", "trump didn't grow his base", "trump had empty seats at a rally" etc etc.
None of this is convincing to me. Polling and prediction models/markets are the best info we have. Far better than "I saw some yard signs" or whatever.
The polls will be a bit wrong in one direction. But most of the time they're closer than people's hopes and gut feelings.
I'd love to be proven wrong but I suspect there are gonna be a lot of very disappointed people who've fallen for their own pro-Harris biases to try and cope with things.

The only way they can codify it back into law is by eliminating the filibuster to lower the voting threshold in Congress. But they can only do that if they win both the House and the Senate (which doesn't look possible) and even then it would likely face legal challenges which would put it right back to the Supreme Court. The realistic hope is that you vote the Democrats to stop things actually getting worse - like Trump invoking the Comstock Act to enact a federal country wide abortion ban or even Trump clamping down on fertility treatments/contraception which is what The Heritage Foundation/Project 2025 want to do. Yeah as I understand it federal law and executive pressure can affect women's rights. Federal law could codify abortion rights, or the president could use executive actions to punish states that don't do what they want. Republicans want to strip people of their rights, Democrats want to protect them. It's up for voters to decide which they prefer. The whacky thing being if they pick republicans this time it's hard to see how voters will ever again be allowed to change their choice. Unlike if democracy wins. And if Republicans get power, how hard will they push? Some of them have been talking about banning women from travelling between states for healthcare, or things like household voting where men get to decide the vote. People will say it's scaremongering, but they said exactly the same thing about abortion. I was straight up told, repeatedly, that "republicans won't overthrow roe Vs wade, that's democrat lies and you're just scaremongering". Or that Trump wouldn't try to overthrow the election or cage children. Do I believe the confident people who were wrong about reality. Or do I watch what republicans say and do to work out what will happen? Good job it's not like that here when half of our lot don't even know what a woman is

I think the odds favour Trump, but only by a little bit. Of course, that's kind of sitting on the fence so I can't really be proven wrong! If Harris wins narrowly I think the republicans will try another coup, but this time they're better prepared so it's more likely to get further. Maybe even work.

Tomorrow’s going to be a very interesting day. When will the results be announced? Several days before all the key results come in We should know North Carolina, Georgia, and Michigan by early Wednesday morning US time. If one candidate has won all three, they're almost certain to win. If they're split, the wait goes on. Wisconsin will probably be called by end of day Wednesday, but Nevada, Arizona and Pennsylvania could take a few more days.

See this is exactly what I'm talking about and it only took two comments for it to come out of you - she's factually supremely qualified and there's no doubt about it but you sit here regurgitating stupid misogynistic and racist right wing talking points like "dUhH ShE SlEpt Up ThE LaDdEr" and "dUhHh ShE's A DeI hIrE". The relationship with Willie Brown was in 1994, nine years before she became DA. And sure being a person of colour and a woman helped her get the VP slot - because President's ALWAYS pick VPs who will help them with specific voting blocs, thats just how it's done. Trump chose Pence, an old white christian man specifically to shore up the evangelicals and Obama chose Biden because he was an old and respected white dude that would court the moderate white senior vote. But I guarantee you've never once whined about those choices - I wonder why that is? The fact is she still got chosen over other women of colour because she was the most QUALIFIED. And now it's "DuH tHe MeDiA aRe CoVeRiNg HeR Up To MaKe HeR lOoK BeTtEr". So that's misogynism, racism and conspiracies all in one single post. See what I mean about being indoctrinated into the right wing bullshit. I'm wondering why you decided to do those messed up capital letters. Did you maybe want to add serial killer to your long list of accusations? To respond to just one of your false claims...I literally watched the original footage of 60 minutes and the tv release which was heavily edited. Maybe I'm just haunted by the evil spirits of Tucker Carlson and Ben Shapiro and should check myself into some kind of institution to treat this terrible affliction! 60 minutes does that for every interview they air and has done for decades. They're not live interviews. They did the same for their interviews with Trump in 2016. Trump's campaign even did the exact same thing to an even more egregious degree for his barbershop visit. It's a nothing burger and again another silly right wing taking point that means nothing

The most frustrating thing is listening to women reference the abortion stuff.
Don't try and take morale high ground with me when the Democrats and Harris have so much blood on their hands.
It's like voting Hitler because he supports abortion while ignoring his war mongering and taking the high ground for doing so.
Everyone has the right to vote whom they wish but Harris voters taking the high ground while they bankroll the bombing of women and children takes the biscuit for me.

Kamala is a poor candidate - the only thing going for her was that she wasn't a senile Biden. Trump will win convincingly imo. The bloke is an egotistical moron and showing signs of his age too. However as mentioned before, I don't view him as a catastrophe on a global scale - he's a isolationist, not the next Hitler ready to start a conquest.

It's fucking mental that in the US, the self-proclaimed champions of democracy, that in a two horse race Harris is currently 1.32 (1/3 in old money) to get the most votes, and the other guy is 1.62 (2/3) to be the next President.

Yeh I just don't appreciate people taking the morale high ground over it. Especially when the Democrats could have considered eliminating the filibuster in senate in 2022 to pass an abortion rights bill if they so wished. But they didn't. So just seems a strange thing to campaign on when you had the ability to pass an act if you so wished but you didn't. So I don't understand how Harris winning now is suddenly going to solve the issue. How does she intend to do that? Just feels like weaponising womens rights when if your womens/abortion rights were as important as potrayed then why not take action in 2022....

Using appalling and unhinged slurs against ordinary people. They'd be happy with a civil war. When in reality, most folk are not so different.

Or another self-serving prick who will allow Ukraine to fall to his equally insane buddy Mad Vlad. Well it's not working at the moment is it so may as well give him a whirl? War in the Middle East and Ukraine isn't ending under the Democrats, we know that. It's not working at the moment because neither we or the Yanks are supplying enough of the artillery and intelligence to really damage Russia. But it would be worse news for Ukraine under Trump, as his strategy for ending the war is just withdrawing support to Ukraine altogether! I appreciate it's a different story for Israel, as I believe Trump isn't fully in their pockets like the Democrats are. Will Trump go harder on Israel and withdraw/limit military support to them as well?
