Yeah let's slate our youth academy even though half of the team playing today are first team players.... So you think our youth set up is working fine? We can't even produce professional footballers, let alone premier league ones, this despite spending 10s of millions over the last 6-7 years.

Haugaard.........time to cut our losses and give the likes of Isted and Gyollai experience rather than waste more time on him.

Haugaard.........time to cut our losses and give the likes of Isted and Gyollai experience rather than waste more time on him. That may be the right thing to do. Id love to know if the goalkeeping coaches feel we have a player who could be good and also whether he looks a poorer or better player now compared to when he signed.... It seems he has gone backwards.

It's set up for Bardsley to twat someone and we go down to 9. To think I really fancied going if it had worked with my shifts just to get a new ground in. When I say fancied I mean I would have ben drawn in like a Lemming to a cliff.

I'm glad we're losing. I want this competition to be an abject failure for the U23 sides. The FA aren't prepared to look inwards when England fail, they don't have the awareness to realise they are just repeating mistakes and are now trying to desecrate the league structure in this country due to their arrogance.
Let's not forget that, during tough times for our club, we had two glorious days out at Wembley to illuminate the darkness. I am disappointed and ashamed at our involvement.

Can't Diouf even score in this? [/39 | Diouf misses a one on one and ball then falls to Adam who shoots just wide. Still 2-0 to Morecambe. Seemingly not

Crikey. I hadn't seen the team. I don't like our participation in this but that makes it even more of a farce. Under 23's. Haha. Yeah right I do like it but there's no justification for that. There really isn't. Mate if it was a brand new competition, a new idea then i'd have no problem with it, these lads need games to turn them into men. This is a competition for 3rd and 4th division teams. Given me some ace memories and days out too in times when i never thought i would see a stoke side at wembley. It has a special place in english football. Ask any supporter of any team whos been to wembley for the final. Clubs on their arse, fallen giants. A premier league team should be nowhere near it and then to use it as a training session for first team outcasts is despicable to be quite honest.

We can't even produce professional footballers, let alone premier league ones, this despite spending 10s of millions over the last 6-7 years. Our recent spending will have the biggest impact on the younger age groups. Our U11s (think it was them) were unlucky to lose 1-0 to Real Madrid at the end of last season. It will be another few years until we start to see these younger players pushing through and then we can finally see if there have been any improvements or not. We've currently got 5 or 6 academy players training with the first team on a regular basis. Verlinden is only 17 and was on the bench for the first team the other week. He's currently with the Belgium U19s squad. N'Goy is only 18 and has been in and around the first team matchday squad. Same can be said of Taylor. Hopefully with a few of the older first team players moving on next summer, a few of the youth players will be a regular part of the matchday squad next season.

You'd have more chance of seeing a clean sheet at a Roman-themed orgy than anytime Fucktaard's in goal.

Starting 5 first team squad players though is imo taking the piss. If you are going to be in it actually use it properly.

What we deserve for entering it Why would we turn down the opportunity? The Fa were always going to try and do something to move towards improving youth football, we would have been stupid to turn it down. What is stupid however is how we have gone and made a mockery out of it by playing so many over age players. Like I said earlier, if I was a young player I would go nowhere near Stoke if I wanted a career.
