It's a tough call but i think a loan is the safest bet. If he does well and starts to build up his confidence again he might put that down to Mark Hughes and want to stay here. If he fails miserably then we can just move on.

Not taking away from the business done so far - but it's hard to escape the conclusion that transfer fees (or lack of) is the primary consideration and driver in the players we've targeted this summer.

Admittedly we'll be paying Diouf a King's ransom though.

i know I'm going against the current but I don't rate him That much. Not a winner and his career is in free fall - imagine from the fizzy heights of Barcelona to stoke in a span of a couple of years when he's still in his prime

Yes that would be ideal. I've just deleted my post about a 12 month loan. A 6 month loan with an option to buy (for, say £6 million) in the January window. That would leave us free to walk away if it didn't work out and would give Barca any compensation payments due if they moved him on at the end of his contract if we didn't sign him.

How could the sentinel possibly know that it's a loan deal? They've obviously just thought that he's way too good to sign permanently and churned out a shite explanation as to why he's here.

Agreed - I suspect this Sentinel "exclusive" is originally from the post at the top of the thread. A quick call to the Hotel would confirm that Hughes and the player were there, a quick google of t'internet and, hey presto! Houston we have a story!
