If we sign another striker as well it could end up being shrewd business. If this is it then it's very worrying indeed.

If we'd have got Olic, no one would be complaining about age.
This one might work out and it might not.
Seems though that some on here can already see 'trouble in the tea leaves', whilst not understanding the situation one bit.

He speaks five languages, so what's the problem? Once he knows what a kinesil ise is, he'll do well for us. I like him. OS.

This time next week we will have played Chelsea, Sunderland and Man Utd.
A few new faces by then?
Different agendas for sure.
One game at a time, one day at a time.

Olic's age was talked about.
He's a class above though, that's why I would've taken him and his role would be obvious. With Odemwingie none of this is clear.

Jones was of no use to us at all. Odemwinge might be No transfer fee and affordable wages A no brainer really. Correct. He might of pulled out a rabbit here! We shall see. Come on stoke

Or the players we want or better thsn we have are not available for the right money? Why keep hold of Jones on £40k a week when he clearly wanted out? Looks like good business for me? Who would you prefer on the bench when we need a goal? PO or a half arsed KJ, who might text the manager hours before kick off saying he can't be arsed to turn up today after pocketing another £40k? Simple sell Jones to Cardiff and leave it at that. It isnt simple though is it. This isnt some football manager game. Cardiff wanted rid and so did we, makes sense for both clubs. The only other options were for Jones to sit out his contract or go out on loan, probably with us still paying all his wages. Maybe some one would come in with a very low bid on the 31st but this is the best realistic option available, Hughes / Scholes / Cartwright or whoever else deserve credit

Theres no doubt he'll make a bigger impact than jones. And just like Walters, PO can also be used on the wing. He's definitely a Walters upgrade too. Walters isn't in the team for his goals and his creativity. PO won't be replacing Walters, he will never track back like Walters does, i can see him being used more as an impact sub

So Hughes has taken an educated gamble as well as the club in bringing in Odemwinge for Jones. I can't believe the posts I'm reading on this site from so called Stoke fans. What a welcome for any player when he really does need welcoming and given our encouragement. I though the gamble is pretty obvious. Jones was deadwood in the squad and offered us only a duplication of what we have in Crouch. Odemwinge has pace and has had a previously good scoring record. Who would I prefer to have until the end of this season? There is only one answer. We now have more options up front. It makes us better! I would still hope that we will sign another good striker before the window closes because I think we will have received a small amount of money too with this deal. Odemwinge will be busting a gut to get into the Nigeria team. Jones offered us little. Do you lot think it's not going to be difficult enough this season? The last thing we need in this difficult time is its fan base and the club being torn apart with all these stupid comments. Odemwinge is a short-term fix. If you're upset by the comments about him, how do you feel about some of the comments about Walters?

Like Jones, he is proven at this level but has been largely anonymous for the past couple of years with a tendancy to act a twat. It just seems like we've exchanged an alsatian for a german shepherd.

If memory serves me correctly Hughes was brought in to take us to the next level and the focus was on youth and not wasting time with older players in the process. We seem to be back tracking on all levels at the moment.
Now we are all wondering how the hell we are going to get to 40 points and welcoming in a player that looks past it and in his 30's
Mind you we could have dug up Margaret Thatcher and stuck her on the pitch and she would be more use than Jones.
