Hottest day of the year and I managed to get up to 11.06km! My longest since getting back in to it again so very pleased with todays effort. Hope your dad gets himself better soon jonah Fine effort to improve from 10k to 11k over the same time period over just a couple of short weeks or whatever it is Cheers Gods. But actually I just see it as returning to my previous levels. Not so much that i've improved by 10% in 2 weeks...more that i'd dropped 15% by not going. Good though to think back to about 3 years ago and i'd be pooped after 15 mins, all about the mindset, desire and determination. I feel like this should naturally be followed by a 'Pulis Out' comment

interesting ancedote i read today from british marathon runner Steve Jones (world record holder in 1980s) after doing a 2hr 30 ish marathon he asked a normal runner how long it took him. the embarrassed runner said 5 hrs to which steve now in awe said brilliant, how on earth do you manage to stay on your feet for 5 hours the point is go as long as you can for as fast as you can, a longer slower runn is just as good for you as a shorter faster run depends on whether you're talking about body size/shape or just fitness levels/stamina which are completely different and unassociated things studies over the last few years have shown that in terms of calorie burning (for us that want to lose an inch or two of our Carling sponsored "Six packs") then short but more intensive workouts/distances actually keep your metabolism going for far longer periods after you've finished meaning you can literally continue to burn calories for hours after you've finished the workout rather than practically stopping as soon as you've finished a slower workout. that's the reason for the massive increase in HIIT workouts and sessions at gyms and with personal trainers globally over the last year or two. for instance, if you use a cross trainer for an hour at a steady pace then you won't do anything like the same kind of good (calorie burning wise) than you would if you did HIIT for just 20 minutes on it

Different strokes for different folks Anything is better than nothing completely agree! i'd love to do the HIIT thing and lose an inch or two (thankfully don't need to lose too much but if i don't start soon then it'll be too late as i'm late 30's already!) but am gradually working up to it as need to get the fitness levels up first before i can really go for it and even the steady pace thing is noticeably working so yes, it's definitely an improvement on sitting there watching Pointless whilst munching on quavers!

And an added benefit is a good rub down off a blonde lady later on today, sports massage booked in Looking at trail running on Sunday, getting off the roads for a long run, probably 16 miles along the sandstone trail will be more like a 20 mile road run. Oh, and I was stood in the queue at waitrose in knutsford yesterday and a guy stopped and looked at me, did a doible take then said 'sorry I thought you were Seb Coe' I was in shirt n tie and not running gear

That's the spirit Meggsy and best of luck with it I clocked in another 6km today. Not quite been able to focus properly and I need to get in the zone. But got lots going on with work and jobs at the moment so my attention is being diverted!

16 miles on the sandstone trail today, Grestys waste to Frodsham, back via Manley knoll(mumf mansion )and into Delamere Forest again to run up Eddisbury hill after nearly 14 miles was a bit tough. Just done the Garmin download, total climb of 2839 feet, with the toughest 300 feet in 1/2 a mile.

Very unfortunate as the conditions get better for running.... should have no problem picking it up again in a couple of weeks. I'm definitely sticking with the running...in the past I've given up as the nights draw in Yes, the avatar should warn the bastards of the punishment of the iron in the event of any bastardism. It seems Bruce has finally settled upon his avatar

Back on it now.Yesterday I did 10 miles on my bike and a 5.5 mile run. i'm taking the kids swimming later and i'll do a 6.5 mile run tonight, the only problem is my favourite runs involve country lanes and with the nights drawing in I have to be careful because there are no pavements.

She wears what she wants, she's solid muscle. She's doing the Bolton ironman Triathlon this weekend, a 2 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and then running a marathon, 26.2 miles, I think she's going to snap my leg in two when she's massaging the quads and calves, it works though, wasn't expecting my shorts to come down when she stuck her elbow in my buttock piriformis

5 miles tonight. I walked to work this morning and that must have eased my leg pains because it felt quite good tonight. I think I might take the boy for a bike ride tomorrow. Chell to Westport Lake,a couple of laps and back again is about 5 miles so it'll be nice and steady(he's only 6). I might try for a 7 miler tomorrow evening if I can get out of the house early enough.
