Just over 20 mins in a 5k race last night.
Was a bit disappointed but shouldn’t be surprised as I haven’t run any 6.30 pace miles since New Years Day, also maybe sub consciously holding back as I’m running a marathon while away this weekend

9 miles at 7.10 today. Have a race at the weekend, so just to tick over and not stress the hamstring too much. Took a lot of years to learn that not a lot is gained in the final week or two before racing but a lot can be lost!

I've just had an email to say that the Keele Half Marathon has now also been cancelled. I hope this isn't a sign for the rest of the season that's three that have been pulled this year already.

Worrying times for a lot of races, sadly. The potential for losing some really decent races is really troubling as in most cases when they’re gone, they’re not coming back anytime soon.

I’ve heard a lot are struggling to get insurance post Covid.
Any local race I’ve done the numbers seem way down, hopefully only temporary

Quickest 10k for a while tonight. Edging closer to the 50min mark.

Undulating Northwich parkrun yesterday, 7.40 pace, think covid effects have now gone.
Easy 10k this morning, took 2 new young Ukrainian ladies out for their first run in the UK

Westbridge has started picking up now, with a month to go. Luckily it is a NSRRA race or I think it would struggle. Well done on your 5k on Friday by the way, great time!

3.21 at Limerick marathon, bloody pit stop 💩 at mile 12 cost me the sub 3.20, but I’ll take the progress on the journey to sub 3.
I’ll do another couple over the next month or two

Well done on your 5k on Friday by the way, great time Thanks but it's still a minute and a half short of what I feel I should be doing. Uttoxeter Half today was a bit light compared to normal numbers it's a bit worrying. Uttoxeter RR do a great job and it's a fantastic course but not one to do if you want a pb which probably puts a few off. I set my target at 5 minute kilometres and had plenty in the tank for the final push, the last kilometre was 4:20 which was pleasing

Was thinking of rocking up for a bit of a canter at the Kempton Running Festival marathon. Don’t suppose anyone has feedback on it?

Westminster 10k this morning. Ran sub-40 but as is of often the case with the races with huge numbers, it’s impossible to run a racing line and jostling for position, etc for a couple of km, so ended up doing 10.35km! I actually did 10k in 38.09 which is pushing towards PB territory, so it was a decent day.

Anyone else in Edinburgh at the end of the month for the Running Festival? Yes... Not been training that specifically for it, as I was training for the half marathon. I thought it is worth having a low pressure crack at the sub 3 though so upped my mileage and having a few weeks of specific marathon training. 22 miles done yesterday at 7:10 pace over at Porthmadog, 24 to be done next week. In good shape now so just need to sustain it. What's your target for it?

Did Stafford the other month which was first half in 6 months, and apart from going stupid for first hour (7 miles/60 mins!) I finished on a 1.57 which I was more than happy with Anything less than 1.57 will do, anything under 1.54 will be a bonus. Pace it right & should be ok.

It's crowded near the front, god only knows what it's like in the midfield Third time I’ve done it and this was the most condensed start and first few km I can remember. I looked back at previous ones and they were 10.12km and 10.09, all done on the same watch so there shouldn’t be too much disparity in the GPS. I added most of my distance passing people on the few tiny rises on the course as even though they were only pimples people were going backwards as they’d started too quickly and blown up. That said, I like those London races as sometimes racing on the same circuits with one man and his dog watching is just dull. Great running mate, well done.

I heard a rumour today, although from Fraise so it may not be reliable, that it's Orb's big day today where he tries his best to complete a marathon albeit with pub stops. My guess is that it ended messily at the first pub stop

Felt ok until about mile 22 and then really struggled till the end. Still, something I’ve done that I’d never in a million years would I ever think I’d do.

Anybody see John Kelly break the Wainwrights record? Ridiculous time, possibly unbeatable.
