Good luck with those Hearing rumours that Manchester is going to start late, after the half has started, and if a staggered start is needed the slower runners will be coming in at tea time, a silly idea if you ask me.

Despite doing nothing more than short walks, my left knee was feeling more painful and my right knee (still the worst) less painful, so I decided to try an easy-ish 5k yesterday. I ended up running too fast in the first km and keeping that up, then thinking I'd stop at 4k. When I got to 4k, I decided to carry on and ended up running my 3rd fastest 5k.

Similar to me, I managed half marathon distance around Easter and after that my plantar fascitis and runners knee kicked in. The plantar has eased and the knee not so bad. Sticking to a bit of the treadmill and a couple of runs outside a week. No further than 5k though. Going to try and rehabilitate it and get back outside after summer. Enjoying the weights again though and noticing a difference with that.

10 miles this morning with 8 at tempo (6.38 average).
Starting to get a bit fitter and stronger, should definitely go sub 90 at Antrim half

Just having a course of physio at the moment for knee issues but it's been diagnosed as a misfiring glute so I've been doing glute exercises which seem to be alleviating the problem..... plus evening stints on the exercise bike to take the pressure off.

Happy with mileage this week & the long run took in a 29 min Parkrun with 11 miles added on after...
....only down side? Should have put more body glide around the archipelago :-D

Had a pretty poor year in 2021 to date. Just never really get started. Kept things marginally ticking over with the odd run here and there, but not managed anywhere near enough consistency.
Previous couple of years I've maintained pretty good discipline. 3 to 4 runs per week, without fail, all year round. Racking up the miles and training for specific events.
This year its just completely gone off the track.
Checked my Strava stats around a month ago and I'd only managed around 200km for the year (I normally average 100km a month, sometimes more when training for a specific event).
Things have improved over the past 3 weeks and I've racked up around 70km over that time. More importantly, I've started to get the bug again and I'm really enjoying it, so hopefully this is the start of a much better routine and improved consistency.
My fitness/times/pace/distance are miles off where I was 12 months ago, but just getting out there is the most important thing. Improvements will come in time.

Try not to jump up your mileage too quickly, that is what I have done several times and been back to square one. After a poor first half to the year, I'm now back on track. Training for Yorkshire Marathon, and the speed is coming back as I had a decent 5k run at the Wammy ancpuple of weeks ago. I've had to build it slower than I normally would, but it seems to be working, and my achilles issues aren't as bad as they have been.

I am a little frustrated at how far back I've fallen but overall I'm pretty patient and I don't think I'm rushing it. I've done a couple of (really slow) 10ks which really hurt. Maybe they were a little premature and I should have waited longer. That aside I've just been mixing up shorter 5k, 6k and 7ks at various paces.

Miserable failed attempt at a 10 mile tempo (target pace 6.40). Inexplicably died a death after 4 miles. Plodded on to finish 12.5 miles but that’s definitely a setback with only 2 weeks to Antrim Half

Had another go at a 10 mile tempo, inexplicable the difference in a couple of days, managed 10 miles @ 6.40 average.
Just over a week to go to the Half

I'm only running once a week, awaiting the results of an x-ray on my knees.
I ran 5k in 22:08 a couple of weeks ago and felt like I was losing my fitness already.
A week later, I ran 20:53, and it felt easier than the slower one.
Then the past week I ran a PB, 20:45.
How can I be getting faster when I'm only running one 5k and a slow 1k jog a week?

The new route at Wyre Forest Parkrun yesterday = sub 27 min Parkrun
The 20 mile run today = falling at 19 miles crossing the A38 in Worcester = cuts/grazes on both knees, left arm which now 6 hrs later I hope is bruising/sore & a right little finger that had to be straightened. Stop the Garmin at 10.40s for the 19
Laugh or cry!

Did the Big Half today. Haven’t been able to train properly since I injured my glute and hamstring, but hit 1.28 which I was pleased with. KT tape basically held me together. Disappointed in a way as this had been a goal race for the end of summer, but shit happens and at least I could manage the distance having not been over 16km in a couple of months.

Ran 1.26 at the Antrim Half today.
In my mid 50’s and slightly disappointed I didn’t go below 1.26 but I’d a poor training block and was carrying a few injuries
Might try San Seb marathon end of November

Nursing a bit of a niggle, hoping it subsides by the weekend.

Been averaging about 20 miles a week over the last few months. A mixture of shorter and longer runs getting ready for the Nottingham Half in a few weeks. It's been a bit of a PB weekend with a 23.47 for the parkrun and a 1:54 half marathon training run this morning. Actually starting to enjoy it a bit more...

19 miles on Friday which included me doing under 3 hours for 18 miles for first time. Well chuffed
Sadly work meant no Worcester Half/10k yesterday but eye opening was the 10k winning time of 29.40!
