I turned my HR off, no idea what mine is now.
2 X 2 mile tempo this morning, Strava telling me it was a 2 mile PB at 11:01.
Got magic new shoes.

Get back on that grammar thread you pedant It’s a defensive mechanism as he knows I’m half as tall as him but twice the athlete You doing these 5Ks Al is a good way of getting your 30,000 steps in 54 minute 10K today with a 25 something 5K so hoping to get under 25 minutes for the first time when parkrun returns

Completed week 9 run 1 today of the Couch 2 5K app (2 more runs to go). It's the first time I've ran non-stop for 30 mins in over 25 years! Going to treat myself to a proper pair of running trainers soon :-)

It’s amazing how effective the couch to 5k really is....

12.6 miles in the Staffordshire Moorlands this morning in 1:46, 1,044 feet of climb. Great to be back out there again, could have done with it being a few degrees cooler

For anyone interested here's a link to the local virtual race calendar. If you live on the opposite side of the country or in a shithole like say, Nottingham it's your opportunity to do the local races albeit on your home turf. All the clubs involved use the races for local charities. Some of the races go directly to local school funds supported by the local race committee and volunteers like the St Thomas 10K that was run last weekend. www.nsrra.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/NSRRA-PROGRAMME-OF-VIRTUAL-LEAGUE-RACES-FOR-2020.pdf

Going to treat myself to a proper pair of running trainers soon :-) Let myself go a bit in recent years and 7kg over my uni weight of 20 years ago. Mainly due to having no free time to do anything...and being a lazy fucker. Since lockdown (and having had more time) I decided to start jogging a bit. Have been doing just over 5k two or three times a week now for the past month so I too decided to treat myself to a better pair of trainers last week. Until 3 days ago I've been using some basic 40 quid Adidas trainers for any and all kinds of exercise. I've now bought some Asics Gel DS ones which seem to be tailored to running on roads. To be honest, that's the most I've ever spent on trainers. Have to admit that on the first jog I did I clocked a max BPM over 200 which is well above where I should be, and only managed 3km before my legs turned to mush and my lungs were on fire. Anyway, 4 weeks later i'm doing just over 5km each run and although I haven't gone all out for a PB, I did 5.4k in around 29 mins yesterday... The pace was 5.41 mins a k and I'll be happy if I can get that down to 5.30 for outdoor running.

You could do a mile of the Wammy, take a right into Silverdale Country Park up to the transmitter, back down again and do the last mile on the Wammy

A few weeks ago on my PB's post I said to watch this space regarding my marathon time. It was 4hrs 21, as of yesterday it's now 3hrs 42! Included a proper falling over at mile 7 as well that ruined my knees (and bashed my hip, elbow and hands). It wasn't flat either, included Penkhull and the steps up to Bradwell from Longbridge Hayes. Over the moon doesn't cut it! Attachments:

Llangollen, horseshoe, Wrexham Whitchurch home Haven’t cycled around there for years. I used to go over that way fairly regularly from Staffordshire when I still lived down there. I’m planning on cycling from Manchester up to Fylde and back in a couple of weekends, work permitting.....

Tried to keep it relatively consistent and took a bit of a breather on the downs rather than sprinted them.

You could do a mile of the Wammy, take a right into Silverdale Country Park up to the transmitter, back down again and do the last mile on the Wammy I'm thinking of starting at the bridge in Knutton, up Black Bank and down through Silverdale Country park and last mile down The Wammy. Quite a similar elevation to Cheadle 4 that way.

I nearly did the Newcastle 10 as an alternative to the St Thomas 10 until the offer of an attractive similar paced female runner came up The problem is trying to replicate the Cheadle 4 because it's such an incredible route. A sub 6 minute first mile followed by a brutal one and half mile uphill then a ball out one and a hall mile downhill. I don't know the elevation of Blackbank but it's just over 2K of climb. I suppose if you run from the bridge you'll have a kilometre of fairly flat running and then just the mini roundabout to get across. By the way have you seen last year's joke on the Father's Day thread

I didn't think about the roundabout, can be a bit busy there. If I start just after, I can just finish further up The Wammy. I've just replied, embarassingly accurate 😂

That would give almost a mile of flat(ish) run before the hill. If it's shorter than I'm thinking then you could even start back at Cherryhill Lane although you'll have the road to cross it will be fairly quiet on a Sunday morning.
