I may have been pushing it with that statement. Still got a bit of timber around the midriff. I'm hoping my lad will get the bug and break World Records 👍 It was less than 3 years ago when I was pushing for the sub 20. Took me a few goes, I find it's more about getting comfortable with the fact that you are going to feel horrible racing 5k. Apples, keep training and I have no doubt you will be hitting sub 20 too. With regards to the marathon, I think an untrained or little trained person could have heart issues. The doctor obviously knows a lot more than any of us though. I had a heart check up around a year ago and I'd done 4 marathons by then and they said mine was in top condition 😉 There are some older blokes in my club that still run marathons into their 60s and 70s, seemingly without problems (other than drinking problems 😂)I received a ban from talking about one of them in a Karaoke bar in Lanzarote last December so my lips are sealed

Starting to get a bit of consistent, niggling pains now (above and beyond the norm). Back/bottom of right leg, left knee and twinges in both heels. Having to concentrate on form and not push too hard. I think it will definitely be a case of listening to the body and managing the next 12 out as best I can. I don't think I'm risking injury or anything like that, I'm just very aware of the aches and pains. Before this challenge I'd probably never ran for more than 4 days on the trot, so I was always expecting to suffer at some point (I'm a bit surprised it's taken this long to properly kick in to be honest). Anyway, only 12 more to go....

You're not on your own if you're feeling a bit down (if that makes you feel any better). Take solace in the fact we're all ploughing through this shower of shit together. I'm sure things will get better soon. Chin up, and keep on running 🏃♂️🏃♂️ 👍👍

Keep up the good work mate otherwise I'll be another one asking for a discount Stretching, using a roller, hot baths failing that get yourself a nice lady runner to pace you two metres ahead it'll take your mind off the pain

Have you been stretching after your runs? If you don't I'd start doing it. Ham strings is what I usually work on, as they tighten up like anything if I do this kind of consistent training. As Fel says, foam rollers are useful too - can often pick them up cheaply in Aldi.

I never stretch after running. I end my run about 1km from home, and use the walk home as my warm down. If I have any specific aches or pains, I tend to massage those specific areas and loosen them up. I never stretch pre run either. I start off slowly and use that as my warm up. I have been massaging my legs all over every night as they have been tightening up. That's been helping a bit.

Great time I take it you found a lady runner It was just one of those rare runs where you feel great and it all comes easy. Not sure why it happened 19 days into the hardest running challenge I've ever done 🤷♂️ I considered reining it in and being disciplined but those runs dont come around very often so I decided to go with it and enjoy it. I probably could have gone sub 50 if I'd really pushed it. Just hope I don't pay too much for it tomorrow!!!

Blimey! You’ve found 4 minutes there. Cracking effort. My PB is 49.30. I've been running these 10ks in the region of 53 to 55 minutes, to try and manage the legs, which I am hoping will pay dividends on the final few runs. And I'll be honest, the runs at 54/55 minutes have felt really tough. I ran 54 yesterday and it was an absolute slog. Yet today I ran sub 51, and it felt incredibly easy. Go figure 🤷♂️ I am expecting more of the usual pain and struggles for the final 10, but we'll see. I just felt good today so went with it.

Set myself a target a couple of months ago when once all the races were getting cancelled. Needed a focus to keep training. Hoping to do it on a couple of weeks or so. I'll let you know if I get there!
