Latest run I can remember last night an hour starting at 8:30 by which time the rain had stopped, the wind had dropped and there was loads of late evening sunshine about and the lanes were absolutely devoid of cars..... bliss

I got there in the end. 16 miles today after an easier week, felt good throughout.

Am sticking to a steady 5.5k at the moment. Was progressing pretty well then had a nasty calf strain that left me limping for 3 weeks. Put it down to the leaping around and dodging about pedestrians and cyclists, trying to be polite. Wasn't worth it!
First run back tried my old 7.5k route and scraped around in an average of 5.39m km. That was about 3 weeks ago. Adjusted route and am down to 4.38m km and am getting the hang of pacing myself a lot better. Have managed 4 days on the bounce so far, rather than every other. I think that's improving my breathing and pacing.
Quite getting into this now which is a good job seeing as the gyms don't look like opening any time soon.
Can anybody recommend the Polar m430? I don't like the big dials all the other brands seem to be using.

Tell you what, barely saw any cyclists or walkers out this morning in that weather 😉

Can I be your friend? Where do you live? * * You haven't moved again have you? - same place as before 10K today in 52 minutes. Well chuffed was 1.02 at the start of April. Maybe drinking neat rum and playing online poker into the early hours is the kind of training I've been looking for. Lets face it, if chicken nuggets works fur Usain then who are we to argue?

I'd be careful, we both know through years of being lectured that chicken nuggets didn't work for Fraise As for the rum there's an officer and a gentleman who posts on here who likes a heavy tipple

Having to go each and every day, even when you dont feel like it. It's been hard.

Found a load of new trails up Bosley Cloud today that have been put in to link up the new mountain bike runs. Can not wait to get up there and put a few times down. It was meant to be a week off to sort out a sore achilles, but I could get hit by a bus tomorrow.
5k: 17:27 10k: 36:50 Half: 1:22:30 Full: 3:10:00
But the one that really matters - 5th in the Staffs Moorlands summer series 2018. Doubt I'll ever top that.

5k: 17:34 10k: 36:09 HM: 1:19:40 Marathon: 3:13
We have some very similar times Timmy!
I'm hoping to unofficially break that 10k PB next weekend, managed a 5 mile at 5:41 average, going to try and hang on for another mile which would take me under 36.

A lot quicker than me 😊 I'm a middle distance runner really, probably still good for a 2:10 800m but there's no fun in running those events. What I really enjoy is running hard down a steep hill but that's quite a niche event.

You just have to be one of the few left still running in your age group, isn't that right Felonious? 😉 They have county championships at local races, I'd hazard a guess that you'd have to be running under 35 10k to be considered, and that's probably the "slower" end of it. I do know some local ladies that have represented England in their age groups, including a very good friend of mine that I train with a lot.

The more I run the more I appreciate how difficult these times are. I can't comprehend how somebody can run 10k in just over 26 minutes (WR). That's a decent 5k time!! I thought some of these times you guys are posting would easily be County times. Frightening pace.

It was at London 2017 and I'd say that if you want to aim for a time (obviously I wanted sub 3) don't try it at London. My GPS had me down as running nearly 43km. The 3 hour pacer was sat at the head of a group of 1000s all with the same idea so there's just no chance to run a relaxed race. You're dodging and swerving and avoiding the carpet of bottles every mile. That's excuses though really. I don't think I'd have gone sub 3 even at a pan-flat quieter event and I'm not going to try again. I was a wreck by the time I got to it and I think I'd just earn myself an early hip replacement. I'm also wise enough now to know that if I did manage sub 3 I'd still be thinking, "maybe I could do 2:55". My uncle did 2:36 and still says to this day "I never really got to grips with the marathon" 🤯

When I ran Tatton Park 10k last year, the bloke that won it did it in 30 mins 18 seconds.
Apparently he returned the next day and won the Tatton half too.
Is that a national level time?
His name is Mo Abu-Reezeq.
