Don't worry if it clashes with Whitley, I'll look after the women for you. you should win your new age group there, as long as you concentrate on running?
Went for an hour in the gym very early this morning, went on one of those new 'free runners' once I got use to it, it was great, no pressure on the injured ankle at all. There's a couple of "lads" from Manchester way who are halfway to being world class in their age group. The race is on the Cheshire Grand Prix list so it's fairly certain they'll be there again. I managed to get within a hundred metres of one but the other was another hundred metres in front of him. Just had a look they're ranked 5th and 23rd in the UK.

14 miles this morning....hoping to have a good winter's training before the Stafford Half although there's a lot of colds, influenza, viruses and ear infections floating around out there at the moment. No doubt I'll avoid them and then do something really stupid like turning an ankle

I do Congleton every now and then, and have done Lyme Park too (easily the best one I've done - it's like a mini fell race). I recently managed 17.55 at Bideford which I was pretty happy with.

Having a chinwag most of the way around the route

Rugeley 10 mile race on the same day, it's on the NSRRA reserve list and I've promised a couple of the Rugeley lads that I'll do it.

I'm in for the Wrexham half on the same day, otherwise would have given this a go.

My old Garmin forerunner 305 is packing up, anybody use a decent new one thats quite simple to use and the ageing eyes can see when running I've got a TomTom runner. It was £50 from sports direct this time last year and I also got a refurb off eBay for the Mrs for £30. The main display is huge and easy to read and you can also have 2 other metrics displayed (I have duration on the main display then average pace and distance on the top). The software was shaky at first but has improved no end and it syncs automatically with strava too. I'd highly recommend it. There are also versions which do HR monitoring without a chest strap (they use a sensor that can read tiny colour differences in your wrist) but I've never felt the need to train to a set HR. I've got mates with £250 Garmin 6xx's but they just seem full of gimics like 'gait and form analysis' (how?). Oh - the tomtom is also the lightest gps watch I've ever seen which is a bonus. It's easy to forget you're wearing it. On another note I've been stuck down with a cold and not been out since Tuesday. I can officially state that I've developed an endorphin dependency. This cold turkey is the worst.

10 miles myself this morning, horrible weather.
What are all the local runs?
Obviously there is the Potters 'arf in June, and the marathon in July which I'm hoping to do, but what else is there to keep myself motivated with targets?
Stafford half marathon isn't long away but unfortunately fully booked.
