Five weeks in on the comeback trail and a very satisfying run tonight VO2Max back in the superior range and fitness age remaining at 20 Nice one. I'm still on the slow and steady and limit to 2-3 mile restrictions

How do you measure VO2Max? And what results am I looking for? A Garmin watch and the Garmin Connect App. Given your times and fitness I would guess your fitness age will be 20. There are various charts for VO2Max and also online calculators. Thank you. I'll look into getting a watch I think. Are they all pretty much the same, or can you recommend one?

Mine is the Garmin Forerunner 45, think it is one of the most standard and works fine for what I need it for. Only thing I've realised is the GPS goes awol if you run with your phone too and don't close down apps like Strava. This is only a problem for me when I run home from the office and transport my phone in a pouch, as I don't listen to music or anything when I run.

Good distance and decent pace this evening. Probably the strongest I've ever felt with my running right now ๐ ![](https://i.imgflip.com/8sgexm.jpg)

Well soon see just what shape Iโm in though with Meerbrook this weekend ๐

2 PBs tonight. Finally gone sub-22 for 5km. And 2 seconds shy of going sub-46 for 10km. Never felt fitter. Sub 46 is the next target ๐โโ๏ธ Out of interest, wheen's the cut off for qualifying for the Olympics? ![](https://i.imgflip.com/8tngym.jpg) ![](https://i.imgflip.com/8tnhib.jpg)

Just watched the European 10km final.
The winner clocked 28 minutes.
The commentators described it as "frustratingly slow".
I might need a bit more training.

Good luck with Meerbrook. I ran 6.5 miles on Tuesday evening no problems, then about midnight Covid hit me, full on shakes and shivers, muscle cramps, even the arches of my feet kept on cramping up, very frustrating at the moment, 1 step forward 2 back.

Cheers, was last weekend and had a good race. Onto Stone 10k next weekend, different challenge with no hills to speak of. Saw our old mate Felonious too, hopefully see him back racing in the future too. I have been told quite a few times by a very experienced local runner who has been through it all, it is better to take some time off and fully recover than to push through it, whether thatโs illness or injury. Might feel like a step back now but long term youโll be much better off. Iโm terrible at following this advice but when I finally did follow it earlier in the year, the fitness came back quite quickly.
