38km for the week.
That is probably a record for me.

17:44 Reckon around 4-6 weeks ago I would have beaten it,.not sure at the moment. Rapid. Do you do any specific training to improve 5k PB? I got down to low 23s then hit a brick wall. It came during marathon training, no specific training for it. Ignore Felonious, he keeps going on about my training partner Steve 😉

Put my foot down for the tough 8 miler tonight, 55 minutes including a one mile climb in the middle of an undulating route.

Think I'm running more now than I ever have. Shorter distances (between 4 and 7 miles) but way more often. Its definitely helping, given the current circumstances. I’m the same. Anything between 7-10k but 6 days a week. Mad busy with work so been going out at 21:00 at night and really enjoyed running in the mild weather round deserted streets. Coronavirus might be good for the nation paradoxically, going out on my bike at the weekend never seen so many runners/cyclists/walkers.....

Been using my treadmill lots recently. Not a fan of it, but just want to isolate away with my family. That's 48km over the past 8 days for me. I'm chalking up more kilometres than I ever have. Think I was averaging about 25km per week before all this.

I'm trying to run every day because my work load has more than doubled this last few weeks at the same time as I've been banned from seeing my mates

Been out for an hour in this beautiful weather this afternoon. Absolutely glorious.
Managed 11.75km (7.3 miles). I think that averages out at 8min 15s miling (or thereabouts) which I'm very happy with.
It's amazing what a world of difference a bit of sun and a good run can make.
I've been feeling a bit down lately with everything that's going on, but it's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders now.
Amazing feeling.

I managed a few miles down the canal this morning. People shat themselves more than usual when I ran towards them for some reason 😄 I debuted a pair of sorbothane insoles today, making a big difference to my usual foot pain.

I’ve discovered recently that slowing down pace and increasing distance enhances the endorphins even more.

I'm new to this outdoor running, had real problems with my joints and split a tendon when I was younger so have always shied away from outdoor running but have done 4-5 days in the gym for 20 years. Treadmill, core and weights lately but versa-climber for about 15 years solid.
Im managing 7.5k from the front door (top of Penkhull), a circuit around Lyme Valley and back again. I've gone from 6.06 a km to 5.09 so far since the lock down started. Not sure if that's good going or not? Have to say being out in the fresh air is great and its something I'll try to keep up for a couple of days a week afterwards.
Are their any decent guides or sites for improving technique? I'm used to the treadmill flying at me and the gradient changing automatically, I just keep chugging along. Outside its a bit of a different ball game and maintaining a consistent pace is something im trying to learn.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

I've no idea about sites however once we get back to some sort of normality you're twixt the excellent clubs of Newcastle AC and Trentham Running Club and a stones throw away from Newcastle Tri Club who have excellent track running sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The best way to get advice is via the club sessions and the variety of ability groups within. If you're managing 7.5K at 5.09 pace in such a short space of time including the flatlands of Penkhull you're doing well.

Set a big 5k PB today.
Never ducked under 23 minutes before (23.09) but today I decided to take it on and get after it.
Ended up with 22.25. Was hoping to get under 23, but wasn't expecting to take such a big chunk out of my best.
Really happy with that 👍👍🏃♂️🏃♂️

Pretty much 8 minute miling 👍👍👍

Is there any merit in "the recovery run"?
I keep seeing it on my strava feed from others, and some people have recommended I do it. Especially after I did my half marathon run.
My legs were knackered the next day though, so I just wanted to rest.
Any benefit to a recovery run?

A very easy short run will help to get your legs stretched out and going again. 3 miles after a half marathon would do it.

Been out on my new bike, commuting to work and back too.
Should be enough to keep me fit if the races start again towards the bottom Nd if the year.

I'm on Princes Road, living in Penkhull will get you fit as you've got not choice but to finish your run uphill! Don't worry about a consistent pace, whilst you're getting used to running, just run on feel. You will obviously be a bit slower ascending James Street then if you are going down Penkhull New Road.

Struggling with shin splints currently if anyone has any advice, Take it easy with shin splints, I remember getting them bad early on. Running is a high impact sport, so sometimes it will take a bit of time for your bones to become stronger and more dense. Try not to increase your mileage too much too soon, if you are struggling with shin splints, reign it back in for a week or two whilst your body adapts. It will be worth it once you're through this 👍

56 minutes on a tough 8 miler a couple of days back. Lost around 4 pounds over the last four weeks with the extra running and gardening and gained a Garmin.
Interesting to see the heart rate resting and flat out but pretty much what I'd imagined listening to others over the years.

They're on offer at the moment with Currys £129 for the Forerunner 45 with 6 months free Spotify Premium thrown in and free postage. Pretty light I can read it out there despite needing reading glasses. Impressed with the Garmin Connect App on the phone as well. The watch is lightweight and I've got used to it in a short space of time and I haven't worn a watch for years.

I’ve been a Garmin fan for years and always had them on my bikes in my cycling days.
Currently have a Forerunner 35 which gives me all the info I need on a run and more than enough data on the Connect app. Links up with Strava easily too 👍
