Are the Aussies in meltdown .....? Firing the Coach whilst already on tour here seems a very extreme preparation for the upcoming series .....also Michael Clarke steps down as a selector ? What on earth is happening in their camp ? Rumours are rife that Clarke and Shane Watson are at each others throats ....although we shouldn't read too much into it ....things like this can only be of benefit to England ...interesting couple of weeks before the First Test I think ?

I also think its going to be closer than we think We shall see mate , but I can't see where the Australians are going to score enough runs to win .....it's dangerous to make predictions but I will go for 2-1 or 2-0 to us ....

3-1 but close tests

I won't argue with that ....I would prefer them to be Close as long as we win ....walkovers are no good to anyone , better to beat a side who have played well , rather than a bunch of no hopers

Joe root is going to come out this series a superstar He is definately a talent that is going to be around for years I think ......he has made a great start to his career so far , but it can only get harder , I hope that the same people that are praising him now will,be as understanding when he has a few failures and a poor run of form ....as he most surely will, he has a great temperament for one so young

Similar to cook though

Well he is different to Cook I think mate ...Cook is old school , conventional opening batsman ( top class as well ) Root is of the next generation , a product of the 20/20 era , different make up , has more confidence to play shots that batsmen of previous era's wouldn't even contemplate .....he is the modern batsman

I pre-ordered the PS3 game 'Ashes Cricket 2013' which was set for release last Wednesday 19th June. Ordered it via Play.com then i mailed them to see what's occuring as i haven't received it yet only to be told the game manufacturers have delayed the games release date to July 19th. Damn, i have itchy fingers to play some Ashes cricket!
I don't know if it'll be a good game or not to be honest as Cricket games are usually more miss than hit, EA Sports haven't made one since the 2007 one (which came out in 2006!) That was mint, for the PS2 i had that. They have the licenses like on Fifa football games which is always good, mind you Scott Styris being called Scotch Stylist always made me chuckle on International Cricket 2010.
Dunno why i'm putting this here, but i'll be sure to do a review of it for anyone who may be interested in getting it for them, as long as it's cricket i can enjoy it. Even though the International Cricket 2010 game is highly unrealistic, you play a Test Match, bowl a good line and length and they hit 5 sixes off the first over. Yorkers get hit for six. Don't you hate it when that happens!
In relation to the REAL Ashes this summer, i can't wait for it to get going. It'll be interesting to see who opens, looks like it may be Root who'll be given the chance, obviously if we pick him we have to persist with him even if he makes a few low scores. Be great to have KP back and him scoring in excess of 170 on his return to cricket playing for Surrey on Sunday is marvellous news.
Roll on July 10th, get our own house in order and go at the Aussies hard, they don't like it up 'em! I think their bowling attack is much stronger than their batting but we'll be foolish to take them lightly and i don't think we will. In the recent ODI against them we looked so much more up for it than we had done the whole ODI series against New Zealand.
Talking of New Zealand later on we have a 20/20 match against them, with a totally different side playing. Hales and Lumb to open, we won't see that in the Tests.

I can get a little carried away when I start talking Cricket ....

Well I have to confess in being a dinosaur in regards to these x box cricket games, my sons have had them but that type of thing has completely passed me by ! As to the real thing it does indeed look like Root will be opening , he is opening in the warm up game against Essex next week, Compton has been left out of the fourteen, unfortunate for him , but predictable with the return of Pietersen , the selectors obviously wanted to stick with Bairstow in the middle order , which I agree with , so to move Root up the order was the only option , I do have quite a lot of sympathy for Compton, discarded just a couple of Games after scoring back to back Test hundreds in New Zealand, its just the harsh nature of things , he is unlikely to play again either....the selection of Rankin amongst the bowlers is one that I hadn't expected ...it will be interesting to see if he plays . As for the two 20/20 games against New Zealand ....I fail to see the point in them, just another exercise in making money out of the public

I hope it lasts for you ......never buy tickets for the fifth day is my advice ....we made a similar error in 2009 for the Lords Test a long drive down from Blackpool in the morning only to see it all over before lunch ! It was worth it though to be there and see us beat them ...the drive back didnt seem as long !

Just ran out of steam. Again Yes a pity , it was a big score to chase ......surely if we want to win these games one of the four main bowlers at least should be playing ? . Dernbach I don't rate , I'm also struggling to see what Woakes has to offer and Rankin is just a new boy.....but he does seem to have some pace and bounce
