It's nice to see you're not bitter about Pulis and haven't got any agendas mate. A nice benign set up there. Mate, I said many times if Pulis was to go then so be it as long as he is replaced with better. Hughes is no better! Stafford I understand and appreciate your concerns tbf mate. However, while he wouldn't have been my first choice we've all got to give him a chance. He did a great job at Blackburn so who knows he might do similar here? He might be shit, he might be really good....we don't know...but come on chap, give him till Christmas.

Yeah but Pulis signed off with a one last plea to the fans to get behind the new manager - awkward eh? Not really no. I have my own mind you see. ![(whistle)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/u7JMveaFGUL6du8bflWQ.gif) It's quite primitive though, isn't it? Quick reminder: If your mate Pulis had done a bit better, we wouldn't have needed to get Hughes, in the first place.

What the hell are you talking about? That's what TP would've had to do. We're trying to move Palacios out, KJ was clearly out of his long term plans, Owen has retired, Whitehead is a free agent, Nzonzi is unsettled and wants a move, Begovic may well be off to a bigger club. Are you living on another planet? So we are we getting rid of Charlie Adam? Who are we replacing him with? Gareth fucking Barry? Like I say, you can't bring in 7 or 8 new players without there being a knock on effect to the rest of the lads. Just look what happened at QPR. They bought too many players in a too short amount of time. It can't work. Cartman I know what you're saying mate but hopefully Hughes will look to accommodate the likes of Adam. I do think a lot of players need to move ie Etherington, Whelan, Walters etc. The football cant be any worse can it?!

You know that photograph of the yellow (?) van with the HUGHES OUT banner that is a meme in its own teatime? Well, in twelve months time when we've finished in the top ten and won the FA Cup, then the driver of that vehicle will look a right tit. Just you wait and see!
The above is me trying to be warm to the idea of Sparky*.
*Do we know why he is called Sparky? Is he still called Sparky? Will he think we are balloons if we shout "Sparky give us a wave"?

Not the best or worst appointment, but probably the least risky option given our squad.
Also more likely to exploit foreign markets and get us better value - with the long term aim of making the club self-sustaining.

I was gutted when pulis went but going down stoke was getting a bit boring, found the Hughes one a bit funny because after that handshake shite.
I thought he hated us and we hated him football banter, however its better for us he got sacked from QPR because he will want to prove to people his worth. After all football managers want to win and manage bigger clubs.
lets see what he does and what happens its time to start the journey intresting times ahead pass me the zigzags

I think football management is pretty linear actually! Then Martinez is sure to take Everton down! ![:))](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/jitsPgqXBozY69AOPrPg.gif)

I'm not in the Hughes out crowd that's a bit prejudicial, but I'll give him a chance if he's supposedly our next manager... I don't know if he'll be any better than TP but new season excites me... Change hopefully for the better... But I will miss the mad Welshman yelling on the sideline but won't miss the bloody " system" that's for sure. I have us being relegated if we do not make massive midfield and forward transfers...

I think I can warm to Hughes. This was his line up at the Brit this season.
33 Julio Cesar 03 Traore Booked 05 Ferdinand 17 Nelsen 19 Bosingwa 02 Diakite Booked 10 Taarabt 14 Granero Booked 32 Faurlin (Zamora - 78' ) 09 Cisse 23 Hoilett
Extremely positive team with some real footballers in there. Said in his post match interview, despite losing how his team tried to get the ball down and play etc. While this is obviously not the best example as we ended up beating them despite Tarabbt missing a bit of a sitter early doors...I think its fair to say that he is a far more positive manager than TP and will try and play a more possession based game. At the very least we can expect a better brand of football. That was my main concern. We can also expect to see attacking full backs.

A fair number of fans want him out already, other clubs fans can't believe hes got the job, just wait till we have a bad run of games, it will not be pretty, p.s Hughes out

From what I remember their midfield played a lot of nice triangles and kept possession but there was no cutting-edge or end-product. Looked like they could have played for a week and not scored. Given our ineptitude in front of goal for the last few years and staggering lack of chances created compared to pretty much every other team, us giving Hughes the manager's job is slightly worrying. We'll definitely play better football but will we score more goals?!

Excellent news. Welcome aboard mr Hughes. Great coup by the club to get such a high profile manager.

I'm slowly coming round to the idea, was never on my radar but just hope he has similar success to that of the last ex 'shit' player to manage us, he's got a lot to prove but I'm getting a semi on at the thought of sexier football next season.. Onwards and upwards....

Right then he is here. Wind ups finished. I don't like the bloke and will not be singing his name but at the same time I won't be booing him. Lets just hope this works out for the best.

We all do, he definitely has a huge point to prove and really he's come to the best place to do it. All the fans on phone ins, on message boards sticking it to him. Let's see what he's really made of.
