No! Only Ukrainian HRIVNA. I use "euro" here only for your convinience. Some taxi-drivers may accept ANY currency but really - use UAH.

Don't suppose our banks and travel agent's will have too much of that currency knocking around so I better get some ordered.

We may get better exchange rates and always find it handy to have a little bit of local currency to hand immediately on arrival.

That may be right! See at actual rates in Kyiv above.

You can change at airport to at least give you enough get to train station, then change rest there if not good enough rate at airport. Its closed currency though, you will not be able to change anywhere to and from hrivna outside ukraine

Cheers POOB. Stupid question but if it is closed currency and we cannot change in UK, can we use the cash machines once out there?

now I can finally get time off work, am looking to go wednesday 14th to monday 19th. just need to sort out flights then accomodation, ......then tickets for the game. Actually really looking forward to it now (wasn't sure I would be able to get time off work, think they felt sorry for me for not being able to have time off for the first two matches) so yes bring it on, am getting more and more exited by it by the hour. Have followed England at World Cups in Germany, South Africa and European Championships........ but to follow Stoke in Europe is something else for me....... much much bigger and much much better..... save me some beer denfcdk.

And the feelings were so special! To stay with the girl i love at my club s pitch! i m really happy I could get a permission for that! that must have been brilliant the only time i have been on the pitch at the britannia was at the pitch invasion

No problem - Internet is a place where you are not really sure whom you r talking to. Real - is real. So - i don t feel hurt.
My advice was to get some beer in the centre - maybe, "Sushiya"-restaurant (I love their sushi). But it s better to decide closer to 15.09.
2 scotch - why r you so negative? think.

The best thing to do regarding money is to use the ATM's over there. This way you get the business rate that is specified on www.xe.com Withdraw however much you think you will need in one go, then you only get charged the 2% fee one time - even with this fee it still works out a better rate than changing currency here. I did this in switzerland and the rate from the ATM was 1.27, compared to the 1.19 that the travel agents (post office was 1.15) were offering. This made a 30 franc (£24) difference when i withdrew £250. It may not seem like a massive amount but why give it the travel agents??? The following 2 links are quite useful as the first one locates VISA ATM machines and the 2nd one provides the exchange rate on a given day: www.visaeurope.com/en/cardholders/atm_locator.aspxwww.visaeurope.com/en/cardholders/exchange_rates.aspxOne final thing i recommend is to let your bank know where and when you are travelling so that the fraud checks that they do dont disable your card when you try and withdraw cash and / or pay for things overseas. I just cant wait now!!!!

I will however take some currency out there with me to change at the airport, in case I can't find an ATM when arriving at the airport, just to get me into town etc. I read earlier it is better to take Dollars or Euros to cash in rather than GBP, they are easier to exchange, so i will probably take a few Euros as well.

How many kyiv fans plan to come to Tel Aviv in the end of the month? Lots of ukraine maccabi fans are Really excited dynamo is getting here. As you probably know there's over million ukraines in israel. (I got Ukraine roots myself).

ATM's are actually on every corner around the city, but if you take cash you really have to use euro or dollar in order not to bother with exchanging GBP which is much less popular here

Донецьк! Nice! Have you been there? Miners region! 1500 supporters? That s VERY much! ive been in Умань only if we got important match we allways bring alot to away matches we brought to athens like 500 but that was after we won 3-0 already. to paris last year playoffs we brought 1000 +- cause it was uber important match, so to kyiv which is closer, i think 1500 will get there.
