About players: on my opinion currently the best Dynamo players are Olexandr Shovkovsky (goalkeeper) and Oleh Gusyev (#20).

About food:
for low budget: we have several chains of cafeteriums "Dva gusya" (The 2 gooses), "Domashnya kukhnya" (The home-made kitchen) etc. For 50-60 UAH (about 7 USD) you can get great dinner and couple of beer! )
for sthg more - pubs or restaurants (lots of them in the down-town - Khreschatik Street, Independance Square).
Be ready for Cyrillic letters around you.
Привіт (Privit) or Вітаю (Vitayu) - is "Hello"! So - it s ok! )
Airport is very close to the city - but taxi drivers ask A LOT! So, agree to up to 150-200 UAH (about 20-25 USD)

Personally, a couple of seasons ago, they seemed to be getting good results in Champions League against decent opposition, and are one of the giants of Ukrainian football, so it will be a stern challenge for us.
It's all a huge learning process for Stoke to play in Europe against teams with different playing styles to what we're used to in the Premier League, so it's going to be really interesting. You will be used to it of course, having been in that position so often.

You know, here in Kyiv we still remember the end of 90-s when Dynamo was among the top-clubs. Barcelona (we won 3-0 in Kyiv and than won again 4-0 in Barca), Real (1-1 in Madrid and 2-0 victory in Kyiv), Bayern, Arsenal... Champs. League quarterfinal, than semifinal...
And than about 10 years of average football. People are little tiried of such things. We want our Dynamo back in top.
But I agree, we play in Europe every season - so we have a good practice.
Stoke for us is sthg exotic, but we know English football & it s GREAT to meet you on the football-field.

Den I saw Dynamo play At Glasgow celtic in 1986 and i thought they were one of the best teams i had seen- very fast on the break and great to watch- they were unlucky on the night and only got a 1.1 draw but i think they dispatched a reasonable celtic side 3.0 in the home leg

About beer:
I like beer & I can tell that some of Ukrainian beer is really tasty!
My choise - Перша приватна броварня (First Private Brewery), Львівське (Lvivske), Оболонь (Obolon). And it s really cheap: about 0,5 USD for a bottle in a supermarket & about 2 USD for a glass in a pub.
About 1986:

About stadium:
Currently Dynamo plays at the "Dynamo stadium named after V. Lobanovsky". It has only some 16 500 seats.
The main stadium "Olimpic" is really under reconstruction for Euro-2012. It used to have 100.000 seats, than some 86.000.
