Hey up Denfcdk
I am booked to stay in Kyiv Apartments, baseina. Do you know how far this is away from the Ground, Bars etc.
They have sent me an email saying they can arrange a transfer from the airport for $30. Think i might take them up on the offer as it saves looking around for buses etc.
Really starting to look forward to this one now.

DoSvidanya Den, It's 35years since I studied Russian and I went to Moscow in 1978. Obviously you are now the Ukraine and many things have changed. I found then and now on holidays Russian / Ukranian etc people to be very funny and interesting. Just wondered, in Kiev is there much English spoken in order to get food, beer, directions etc. There wasn't in Moscow in 78 but the world has changed dramatically since. Will you be coming to Stoke for the match when we play here? Spacibo and Do Svidanya Dave Privet Minty. I also studied Russian in Russia, but in 2005. Where did you study? I was at Tver University. I loved it.

Is there only 1 airport in Kiev and if so, am I looking at Kiev Borispol Airport as being the correct one to fly into?
Trying to get everything sorted but struggling a little. On the plus side, I have found what looks like a bargain hotel, 0.5m away from the centre of town.

no there are two airports. KBP (Borispol) and IEV. IEV is much nearer town but i think most fly in to KBP. We arrive from Riga at around 8.30AM i think on the thursday!

hello people, another Kyiv resident here... i'm ukrainian and i'm actually not a dynamo fan (my club is Dnipro) but i moved to live in Kyiv 10 months ago and i'm a big fan of English football (premierleague and championship in particular), and i know stoke city pretty well as i try to follow premierleague matches every weekend and watch MOTD of course... i had around 3 experiences of drinking with british fans in dnipro (twice the scottish clubs and once the England supporters when we hosted you in 2009) and i must say every time it was great and raining with beer! so my point is, although i am not sure if it would be appropriate to get involved (as i'm not a dynamo fan) but being lonely in this new city (for me) i'd love to have a few drinks with english fans as well... and yeah, Kenwyne Jones looks like an awesome striker to me

My son's great grandfather was Ukranian, so I always wanted to go there to see what it is like. Although, it depends on how much I can get a flight for and if I can persuade my friend to come with me

hi, all! 1. Кейти, я желаю твоей собаке скорейшего выздоровления! А по вторникам я, обычно, работаю! 2. Baseyna Str. is really in the centre! It s close to the ground, bars, pubs etc.! 30 USD for a transfer is NOT cheap, but not TOO expensive. You can take a bus for 3 USD to reach the central train-station and than to catch a taxi for 5 USD. If you take a taxi from the airport to Baseyna Str. by yourself it d be about 20-25 USD. 3. We have real grass pitch!! Not plastic! No! Grass! 4. We have 2 airports. The main & large one is Borispil-airport. It s about 20 minutes by car from city. The other one is much smaller - Zhulyani-airport. It s IN the city. Almost all main flights are in/from Borispil-airport. 5. Hello, Dnipro!! If you support Dnipro than, i think, you support Dynamo as well! And vica versa! Dynamo-Karpaty-Dnipro = STRONG FRIENDSHIP Приємно побачити на цьому форумі українця!

Бровары но работаю в центре Киева (so it takes me approx. 1 hour to get from my place to my office). I am not a huge supporter of a big friendship between rival clubs, but i'm alright with dynamo kyiv and i will support dynamo in this tie as it's a club from ukraine (i know it doesnt always sound logical to a british ear but we dont have the luxury of hating ukrainian clubs in europe so far, we need uefa coefficient to improve!)

Katie: sorry! now i see! thanx!!! and I m really already Stoke supporter in England!!

There is 3 of us so we can get a triple room in a hotel for £50/60 a night that would be cool.
I think we might just stay in a hostel because it is only two nights but a hotel would be nice!
We should go for a beer on Wednesday night

We should go for a beer on Wednesday night a 3-bed room in Hostel City Center which is in the central square will cost you 75 pounds for two nights as i just checked it, two rooms left for that period according to their data

bigroy: You know, with that budget (50 pounds) the best option is a flat. But if you like hotel - i know one close to my office. They ask for a triple 330 UAH (less than 30 pounds/night). I ve never been there, but they say it s a 2 stars hotel. I don t know really. There are no photos at their web-site - feofaniya.org.uaAre you interested? It s about 20 minutes from the ground

we have booked with Theatre-Aparthotel? It looks as though its an apartment that we will be staying in, we have to pick up the keys etc etc, they've offered a taxi from the airport for 25Euros? I've no idea if this is extorinate or not, but my brother says hes not bothered as long as gets us to the front door? After googling the Theatr-Aparthotel i came up with this address (i dont know if this is where we stay as i assume they must have apartments all over kiev????)......Bogdana Khmelnytskogo Str.10 apt.22, 01001 Kiev, looks as though 5min to Independence square and bout 20mins walk from ground?

And the feelings were so special! To stay with the girl i love at my club s pitch! i m really happy I could get a permission for that!

Jim 25euro is same amount as a taxi from in the airport, and is way too much. Outside of terminal D, assuming you go to borispil, the 'політ' bus costs 25 hrivna each, less than £2. This takes you to the train station 'вокзал'. Make your way from there. Maybe offer then 5euro to collect you from train station instead Unless of course you just wan the convenience. I also dont take account of how much it helps being able to pidgeon speak my way around in russian

Is it better to use Euro's or local currency?
Seen reference to both currencies but none the wiser!
