Don't talk daft. Opportunity for what? The last few weeks have been abysmal.... this is a fookin messageboard isn't it? I don't come on here to talk about trivial shit like some of you. I come on here when there is a point to be made. Sparky is not as secure as you all seem to think. Roughly translated. . I can't be arsed log on when things are going well because deep down it pisses me off I still pine for the previous manager, who I used to hate incidentally, so I wait patiently for things to turn to shit then log on and give Hughes both barrells. "Still pine for the previous manager" Are you on drugs. I used to detest his football. But he doesn't deserve the complete lack of respect he gets on this messageboard. In hindsight my opinions of him and his achievements have changed dramatically. He should have been given one last season and then given a farewell that was fitting for his status. One of our greatest mangers. Hughes has done a good job. Obviously. But this season has showed up a lot of fundamental flaws in his make-up(in my opinion) If you think that bet365 will tolerate much more of the crap that is being dished up now then you are very mistaken. He (Hughes) has mis-managed since he picked the team for the League Cup first leg.

Hasn't Sparky bust the record signing barrier on two occasions? Correct me if I'm wrong Chef...seriously. how many times did TP smash the transfer record.jeeze we need some perspective folks TP was starting from scratch. A lot of people conveniently forget that. Sparky walked into a solvent, stable, established Premier League Club. Fact. Anyway.... Lakeland Potter said the season is ""Rat-shit" and Pugsley wants Rafa in place of Sparky so it isn't just me.

Some people on this messageboard cannot stomach the truth. Hughes has lost the plot. Nice to see you back when things start to go wrong spouting your bile. Out of interest where you been between 12th March and 18th April? Internet down ? The question I asked was whether LMH would be sacked if we lost the last few games of the season without scoring. It's a hypothetical discussion for a Saturday night. Some people on this messageboard cannot stomach the truth. Hughes has lost the plot.

What the fooks that got do with anything? You get no prizes for being No 10. Tony's remit was to get, keep and establish SCFC in the Premier League ....In my eyes he has achieved far more than Sparky has in the context of hard work, deliverance and IRR. Sparky walked into an easy job.... let's be honest. Next season (if he's still here) will be defining for him. Oh, it's another one of your boring wind ups. Brilliant. Well Chef... That's a new way to admit defeat in a debate. Cheers

Yep. Because TP had already done the ground work. The foundations. Net spend is a very fluid figure in a long term project. You will find in a business model that TP's rate of return is a very good figure. Why couldn't TP manage it himself then, with his own foundations that he'd laid? Manage what?

Stoke City sit 9th in the table, on course for a third consecutive top-half finish, and some people are questioning the manager's future. I find that staggering. Yes, we've been shit for the last three or four games, but let's just have a look at a few facts: - We have suffered horrendous luck with injuries this year- they've pretty much ruined what could have been an amazing season. Shawcross needs a long rest beginning now, but has to struggle though these last few games because we have no-one else fit; Shaqiri has been in and out with niggles for months; we've really missed Johnson; Afellay out for 9 months now- words fucking fail me. - On a similar note, we are now missing our first-choice goalkeeper. Most Prem sides have a similar situation here: it's hard to keep two quality keepers happy so all tend to have one really good first choice and then a slightly dodgy back-up. To lose your keeper is bloody unlucky- which we are. - We've had a really tough run of fixtures: an in-form Liverpool away, the best Spurs side in living memory, a CL-place-chasing Man City away with Aguero in red-hot form? Well, excuse me if I don't pop down to William Hill and stick a £100 treble on... I'm not saying everything's perfect because it clearly isn't. We need to address several issues in the summer: - the situation at CB was a glaring error and we needed to sign someone last August, let alone now. Wollscheid isn't good enough and Ryan isn't the same as he was pre-back trouble. -We're over-reliant on an ageing Glenn Whelan in midfield. -We have no back-up wingers. Arnie or Shaq get injured and it's square pegs in round holes time again. -None of our strikers are good enough. These aren't new problems either. We've known about them for most of the campaign, so to still finish in the top-half (which I think we will do) would be a great achievement considering the issues we've had. I'm as disappointed as anyone about today's game and the recent run of dismal form, but let's just get to the end of the season without any ridiculous hyserics, re-group in the summer and trust Hughes to sign the players we need. His record in the transfer market has been excellent so far and I'd only count Joselu for nearly 6m and Wollscheid for 3m as being mistakes. (Neither are awful for the price- just not what we needed at the time) Even if we lose the next three games it's not the end of the world- we just need to get through to the summer then do some work in the transfer market. Next season I'd like to see Hughes pick a system, stick with it, and try to give a settled side a decent run together. He deserves the opportunity to do that, and there's no reason we should be questioning his position- not at all. We're just having a tough run at present. There's really no need for so many tampons being yanked out. Managers in this high profile , high pressure Premiership have been sacked for less. You have listed some of the mistakes and errors yourself. This all started to meltdown with his capitulation in the FA Cup. On a par with Tone's Valencia issue in my book.

But he has broken our transfer record twice. Yes. And he did inherit most of TP's Premiership establishing squad ...right. Begovic. Butland, Shawcross, Whelan, Crouch, Walters, Cameron, etc etc Yep. And finished higher than he did with it. While spending less money. Yep. Because TP had already done the ground work. The foundations. Net spend is a very fluid figure in a long term project. You will find in a business model that TP's rate of return is a very good figure.

Hasn't Sparky bust the record signing barrier on two occasions? Correct me if I'm wrong Chef...seriously. Yep. Still spent less than his predecessor. He spent pretty much fuck all his first two seasons. This is the fort season when he's had money, and even then the net spend is around the same as TP's biggest spending season. But he has broken our transfer record twice. Yes. And he did inherit most of TP's Premiership establishing squad ...right. Begovic. Butland, Shawcross, Whelan, Crouch, Walters, Cameron, etc etc

Different circumstances and different people. TP got us to a level.... fact. SCFC and Bet365 have moved on. Sparky will soon be phase 2 of their development. They've moved on despite giving his successor less money to spend? Hasn't Sparky bust the record signing barrier on two occasions? Correct me if I'm wrong Chef...seriously.

Pulis took over when Stoke looked certain to be relegated to the third division. He raised us about 50 places up the pecking order. Hughes inherited a team that was just below half way up the Prem and spent more than Pulis to get us to tenth. One manager earned the right to be cut some slack one hasn't! Very poor. Very poor indeed. It's true though.

If Newcastle go down then Rafa will be available. The family have already spoken to him. Sparky has still got some credit in the bank ...true. But it's quickly approaching an overdraft. And you know this how? How do I know what??

There is only one person who can take on the mantle of SCFC expanding profile... Rafa Ok, if you said to me that if we sacked Hughes and could 100% get Rafa in I'd be saying "thanks Mark, here's your payoff cheque". Benetiz would be an upgrade on Hughes. Will it happen - unlikely. If Newcastle go down then Rafa will be available. The family have already spoken to him. Sparky has still got some credit in the bank ...true. But it's quickly approaching an overdraft.

Whilst taking us from the bottom of the 2nd Division to established Prem status, an FA Cup Final and our best ever European run. That was the biggest bargain in the club's history. LMH has taken a 9th placed team that he led with great merit and gotten himself somehow into a rocky place. I would rather a turgid 0-0 draw any day than the utterly humiliating series of 4-0 defeats we have had to endure these past 3 games. (And for the record, TP's time has come and gone at SCFC). IF LMH is sacked, it is going to be tricky going for a new manager. Hopefully, it won't come to this. Actually Hughes took a team that finished 13th and won three times in five months and turned it into a top half side. Yes but he's spent a shit load of money on a some donkeys hasnt he??

If my twopenneth is worth anything, it will depend on what happens in our remaining games. IF they go badly then yes, he will be gone. And we'll bring TP back, right? Had a glass of wine? Wee bit rude that comment Chef... Only a glass of Chablis with some small glasses of Stella Artois in the preceeding hours.
