Always this time of year isn't it? The funniest one was the League Cup final against Birmingham. Total lack of backbone. When the going gets tough, Arsenal bottle it.

It was always set up, stoke fans were in the Wigan end and as soon as Delilah went up the idea was those in the Wigan end start off which would distract the police to allow the main group of stoke to get over and into them. It was all payback for Wigan turning up in Hanley after the game at the Brit. About 50 Wigan turned up and only about 20 stoke lads were in Yates although it never really kicked off in Hanley a lot of stoke thought Wigan took the piss how they started chanting. Payback was sweet though. I have never seen a following like that from any football firm. Idiots.

Here he is for your delectation. Robert Hampton 'Robbie' Rogers This is another ....but he joined the army instead... Blimey. Coincidentally that's exactly what goes through half of Tory MPs minds when they hear the words "same sex couple".

10/14 and I know The Office pretty much verbatim. Or at least I thought I did.
We're back to that Lincoln quote Pulis used (which is also fairly Brent-ish) about Wenger: "You can fool some of people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time."
Rodgers is on borrowed time.

Tell you my favourite hyped player....Rikki Dadason. All the expectation before he'd even signed and he made it a million times worse by scoring off the bench in what was at the time quite a big cup game.

You get the impression he's been up to all sorts and only got in trouble when he's been "caught", as such. I bet Pulis has already given him multiple chances and he lets the manager down time and again.
I don't think the bloke has it in him to behave whatever the contract situation so we're best just fucking him off really.

I did notice AVB not covering his mouth in the first half tonight when talking to Freund and then the second half he covered it, almost as if someone had told him at half time to remember that the opposition video analyst or whoever can see what you're saying, relay a message and tactics can be adjusted accordingly.

I still can't believe we persisted with Huth at full back and then even went back to it again once we'd signed Woodgate.
If I ever walk into a ground and see Pulis has put him there again I'll turn around and walk back out again.
What a bellend.

Oh yeah, and he scored that obscene volley against us as well. So that's a hat-trick in the San Siro, a volley 5-foot in the air against Stoke, a dribble and smashed finish at Carrow Road and an assortment of Ronaldo-esque free kicks. And that heart celebration. What a celebration! Clearly world class.

Van Persie has just been more of a late developer. I think Bale will get there. Some players take a few years. Look at Ronaldo; he spent the first couple of seasons at Man Yoo looking like a right plum. How old was ronaldo when he won world player of the year? Not a dig just a general question. 23/24. Bale is still developing though. He's not in Messi or Ronaldo's class and never will be but I don't think I could name more than five players in the history of the game who were as good as those two are at the moment.

I think his hat-trick in the San Siro kind of proved he's one of the top 50ish in the world at least. Still needs to be more consistent but then so does everyone apart from the very best (Messi, Ronaldo, Falcao, RVP, Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo). Consistency have only come into RVP's game in the past few years. Before last season really he'd have spells where he'd do absolutely nothing. His injuries didn't help on that front but he's only become the player he is now in the past few seasons. That does appear to be injury-related though. Before last season he'd only ever played a maximum of 25 league games for Arsenal in a season or something. When fit he'd still be banging them in at more than one in two.

George Best used to go missing in games. He was world class. Ibrahimovic definitely goes missing. To suggest Bale's reputation has been built on the last 3 games is garbage. Media frenzy started after the Norwich game world class and bale have never been uttered in the same sentence before that. I think his hat-trick in the San Siro kind of proved he's one of the top 50ish in the world at least. Still needs to be more consistent but then so does everyone apart from the very best (Messi, Ronaldo, Falcao, RVP, Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo).

I don't think taking the 1st XI would have made any difference because they would have played hoofball instead of the relatively easy on the eye stuff the likes of Arismendi and Palacios managed.
Stoke City
29 Sorensen 04 Huth Booked 05 Collins 39 Woodgate 15 Diao Booked 24 Delap 32 Arismendi (Shotton - 65' Booked ) 40 Palacios (Pennant - 65' Booked ) 09 Jones Booked 10 Fuller 33 Jerome
Substitutes
01 Begovic 30 Shotton 16 Pennant 44 Dawson
Not a terrible team looking at it now, especially as our first choice midfield at the time must have been something like Walters, Whitehead, Whelan and a shite Etherington.
However, reading the news in the airport on the way there I was so pissed off. And not taking a full bench showed disrespect for both the competition, Peter Coates and the fans.
Enjoyed the rest of the Euro away games a lot more.

You mean the 6-1 ? Where at 3-1 we piled forward with 10 men and basically gifted them 3 goals ? I have completely forgotten about that match. It means nothing now. The same way the 5-0 at Newcastle is now forgotten. Also the 1-4 humiliation by Liverpool (The same year we won the league) You've forgotten about all of the matches you just listed?

I don't think Crouch was too much money if valued at 10-12m He certainly looked better value than Andy Carroll was for Liverpool. Palacios clearly wasn't worth a penny. It's the age factor more than anything. With little or no sell-on value and a four-year contract it's a lot of money to just write off. He'll turn 34 in the last year of his deal and I'm not sure he'll be of much use by then? I think we were too generous.

It was a good signing but for too much money, considering the Palacios aspect.
Can't help thinking we could have got the pair of them for more like £10-12m if we'd have played the game a bit more.

Maybe the stats will prove me wrong but I'm pretty sure Crouch has a much better chance/conversion rate than Jones.
As much as we look more exciting with pace up top I reckon with Jones in the side last season and no Crouch we'd have scored even fewer goals. Etherington was generally poor and Pennant reverted to type (leaving us with little or no supply), but Crouch still scored more goals than Jones did in 10/11.
For a team that creates so little these days Crouch is probably the better option. You could argue about the increased counter-attacking potential with Jones in the side but like Smudge says in the discussion, grinding out the points is very much the order of the day and we don't even counter attack with genuine menace these days, whether Jones plays or not.

I think 365's bonus play through odds limit is 1/2. So anything better than that and you're fine.
I had it a few months ago when I put my final play through on Madrid to beat a lower division team in their domestic cup. Was 0-0 after about 70 minutes and Madrid's odds to win had gone out to 1/2 from 1/20 at kick-off or something. Two minutes later Madrid had scored and the opposition had a man sent off for protesting the goal. Finished 3-0!
