Wonder why they've quietly changed the title from 'Technical Director' to 'Sporting Director'? The terms seem to be pretty interchangeable, yet we've actively changed it up.
I think it's a fair enough appointment, given the dearth of proven other options likely to be banging our door down. He can't bring less to the party than Tricky.

Arrow definitely pointing upwards since the Cardiff away game when it looked like the sky was falling in.
Only really the Norwich performance a big outlier, and today was the best of the lot

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/match-reports/stoke-city-wba-live-stream-9205466Injury checks on Mmaee and Manhoef? Will they be ok for Wednesday? Schumacher: I'm not sure with Ryan Mmaee, his hamstring was tight so it's too early to say. Manhoef was more of a cramp situation, like Jordan Thompson right at the very end. They'll hopefully be fine, it was probably just tiredness for those two, but we're not sure on Ryan Mmaee. We'll have asssess that one.

Really enjoyable from first to last whistle. We were excellent. Would have been an absolute travesty to lose that.
Hoever was outstanding, as was Manhoef, and some lovely touches from Mmae. Bae was quietish first half, but he just oozes quality and was tremendous second half

Can't see us investing a substantial sum on another right-back, with £1m+ invested in Tchamadeu, with so many other areas needing to be plugged.
Even if we were able to get him on loan again, we probably need to decide if we're going to go all-in with Tchamadeu - and one of them would need to be the main man, and it'd need to be our player.

You'd imagine that the list of people with any kind of track record in this role, at this level or higher, who would be prepared to come to Stoke this summer is small, verging on non-existent.
Even Webber's reputation fell off a cliff, and his foot-in-mouth episodes make him a non-starter.
What kind of pool is it being suggested we should be looking in for non-Walters candidates who are surer things?
People doing what kind of job at what level?
It's a moot discussion anyway as Walters is obviously going to get it.

www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/04/03/transfer-notebook-ola-aina-jonathan-walters-stoke-leeds/Walters eyed for Stoke technical directorFormer Republic of Ireland international Jon Walters is in pole position to land the job as technical director at Stoke. Walters was appointed as an interim after the dismissal of Ricky Martin in February and is the favourite to be installed on a permanent basis. The former Stoke forward has impressed since his return to the bet365 Stadium and has support from the club’s joint-owner John Coates. Contrary to reports, former Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber has not held talks with Stoke over the role.

It appears from his post match comments that he's starting to get a little pissed off with the home fans. Not a good road to go down. I didn’t hear like that mate at all,I thought it was just a passing comment made about the frustration of the 1st half I think the fact he mentioned it in both interviews shows it's something he thinks is a factor in things - and something he must discuss internally. Bringing it out into the open and tryig to offer it up as some kind of mitigation is not sensible, especially when everything we've seen over the last X years, atmosphere-wise, is thoroughly understandable and no different to anywhere else. I don't want him burnt at the stake over the comments - but raising it twice speaks for itself and won't lead anywhere good www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0hn5r5d(2 minutes in)

A little dig in both the Radio Stoke and official club interview. Pretty needless, especially when our fans are no different to any others, and that's the first time we've equalised at home for 16 months
"It's not an easy place when the crowd turn against you and sometimes we can go under"
"It's not easy here, especially here at home. If you concede a goal, the crowd get really frustrated and it's not easy. I'm walking off getting screamed at. So it's not easy for me or the players. So to respond the way we did was pleasing"

I'd love to know the story with Doughty. Got to go down as our biggest cock-up after relegation.
People were, with a straight face, suggesting him for the England squad recently too.
He didn't seem unpopular amongst the group while he was here, so can only assume he didn't settle, like Surridge?
I remember seeing this burst of pace at the start of the 21-22 season - and that's about all we did see.

Out to 22s for relegation with Sky which is as big as we've been since early December. Hopefully winning this one can put it to bed. Still obviously nervy though and a calamitous afternoon could have us right in it again Might just have a tenner on us at those prices in case it all goes horribly wrong

To show the craziness of this league, we're only 2 points off being top 10 since he arrived. If we win on Monday, you could definitely sell this last chunk of games, after Cardiff , as something significant and encouraging, with Norwich a bit of an outlier (but..if we don't......)

Wonder if we could threaten our biggest crowd since the 2018-19 season? Currently, bizarrely, Blackpool in 2022
Could depend on how many they bring. Don't think we'll be far off though, with the offer, Bank Holiday, importance of the game, feelgood factor and what should be a decent away following
