As if there are still some left who think O'neil is the man to take us forward 😆 Hes so painfully out his depth. Out of depth how? His track record is no worse than anyone else's, but he's had far more to deal with than most.

He's had less to spend than the previous two managers and has been hamstrung by having to reduce wages significantly, which the previous managers didn't. You can try to turn it which ever way you want but he's been or most successful manager since we came down by a country mile. good grief how long will some people accept this shit he's bought and loaned a shed load of rubbish and the team is a shambles. But the statistics still prove he's been our most successful manager since we came down by a country mile. So you couldn't be more wrong, you could try but you would not succeed!

Don’t see what’s so mind blowing about it Want Stoke to lose one match to spectacularly improve the long term prospects Nothing to do with people wanting to be right at all. Spectacularly improve the long term prospects? based on what evidence Did you say the same before they sacked Hughes, Lambert, Rowett, Jones?

Plenty on here care just as much about being right about MON not being up to it, as care about us winning. I'm convinced. Results prove we are right. Which ones? the 39% won, the 24% drawn or the 37% lost

If after hearing about Tymon he still goes 532 then it’s time to pack up. I’m hopeful he sees sense and goes rogue Bursic Fose Taylor Wilmott Fox Kilkenny Baker Smallbone Campbell Gayle Brown Whos crossing the ball for 3 strikers? Are you serious, that smacks of kick and chase

Name P, W, D, L, Win % M O'Neill 137, 54, 33, 50, 39.42% T Pulis 131, 47, 32, 52, 35.88 (First Spell) They actually both took over in similar positions both joining in November and only just avoiding relegation with TP managing 21st and MON managing to push up to 16th More interesting is that MON actually currently still has the best Win percentage of any Stoke manager since 1935 with 39%, honorable mentions though for Macari first spell 50% and Gudjon 50% but at a lower level. So not the best win percentage then? At this level he does

Losing the two main wingbacks for 6 weeks is a massive blow. Would have been a different game with them last night. For an Irish man he's not very lucky.

O’Neil has pretty much been backed to the hilt within our capabilities. The issue here is his tactics and the lack of cover he has assembled in key positions. Blaming the family for what he is currently producing on the pitch is ridiculous. Are they completely without fault, no. But you are completely barking up the wrong tree here. This thread is about O’Neil and trying to absolve him of all blame is wrong. I’m always very patient with managers and will never resort to a lot of the personal abuse that you often see on here. But he has massively messed this one up and he looks lost. I can see what he is trying to do. And if he has a 100% fit and firing team it might work well. But when there are players out like there inevitably will be through the season, he hasn’t got a clue what to do or an alternative. And like everyone keeps pointing out, he’s set his stall out to play the wing back system when we only have 1 proper wingback in the whole squad. And guess what, he’s injured after 4 games. Yet he is determined to still use it with a centre midfielder and a winger covering there. He spoke about flexibility in pre season with the formation yet he’s demonstrating no evidence of this. It’s time for him to go. Constantly criticising the board doesn’t change the fact that O’Neil is massively under performing. The only argument onlooker has is that his replacement may be worse. Hardly a glowing testimonial is it? For all march's eulogising over Pulis, at least Pulis did have a few things to hang his cap on His record so far is fairly similar to TP,s first spell, slightly better as his win percentage is 39%. It could be argued that MON has faced more issues than TP did with FFP and injuries etc. Its also fair to say he has developed youth players better and is trying to play a more attractive brand of football.

You mean the guy that relegated us to the third division? I don't think so! Name P, W, D, L, Win % A Ball 62, 17, 21, 24, 27.42 M O'Neill 137, 54, 33, 50, 39.42 While we are at it? Name P, W, D, L, Win % T Pulis 131, 47, 32, 52, 35.88 (First Spell) The difference between O’Neill and TP’s first spell is the club’s recent past. TP took on a team just promoted with a load of third division players. O’Neill took on a team just relegated and stuffed with recently successful players in this division. They actually both took over in similar positions both joining in November and only just avoiding relegation with TP managing 21st and MON managing to push up to 16th More interesting is that MON actually currently still has the best Win percentage of any Stoke manager since 1935 with 39%, honorable mentions though for Macari first spell 50% and Gudjon 50% but at a lower level.

Sentinel article quotes the following comment from O'Neill "It was a little bit more difficult in the first half. They were aggressive with the press and we had to turn them around and move the ball forward at times, we could have been a little bit better." This has been a problem for his team and the tactics he employs for the last 2 seasons now! It's about time he learned how to play against this style and it seems he still struggling to come up with an answer. His Stoke City team just don't seem fit enough or strong enough ( both mentally and physically) and to keep recognising that weakness season upon season just isn't good enough. He can't expect every team to allow us to play our game. If he's going to progress us into a promotion chasing team this ongoing issue simply has to be sorted and I'm of the opinion that if he could do he would've by now 'one size fits all' tactics clearly don't It's not even like opposition teams need to do any research to work out ho we'll set up It's Jones all over again With one slight difference being Jones had a win rate of just under 16% and MON is just shy of 40% but don't let facts cloud your opinion!

Think that's a bit unfair to say that mate. I know it's the way of MON Outters to resort to personal abuse and insults but you shouldn't reduce yourself to it. I genuinely cannot comprehend how anyone can possibly think the last few years have been remotely acceptable. We've been dreadful and he has been totally found out time and time again. I'm not sure what he'd need to do in your eyes to deserve being sacked? Tactical incompetence, hapless signings, shocking substitutions on a weekly basis, lack of ambition, mostly dour football, lack of inspiration. I'm sure I've missed a few off. If we finish in the bottom half again would you still think he's the man? If it annoys you that much then yes I would love him to stay and carry on the good work!

I hate seeing Stoke lose, of course I wanted them to win. But let’s not deny the fact that Blackpool are a shite side and a few times opened us up, better team takes the chances. The overreaction on here is crazy, He wins 1 game and people want him to stay? Do you seriously think in the last 2 season Mon has deserved to stay? Nobody has gone over the the top about one game. What about the reaction after Millwall? There are serious questions about the manager undoubtably. I would have got rid if I could trust the owners to replace him with someone better. They aren't capable, that's my major concern. How could they possibly know? Every managerial appointment is a gamble like every player as well. I just don't get how anyone can talk about football as though its black and white, win or lose, play well or not. There's a massive factor that no one mentions and that's Luck. You need a lot of it to do well.

There's another factor for me that hardly seems to get mentioned. A new manager could do worse, we could get relegated etc. Previous experience shows that change for changes sake doesn't work. There are a multitude of factors why relegation hit us so badly and the merry go round of managers hasn't helped. It seems obvious to me that the only answer was a manager that would steady the ship and then start to make progress. I understand we live in a world where everyone one wants instant gratification so look for change. That's not the case here, it just won't work. Two games in, one away loss in London and a home win against a side that beat us last year. Its far too early yet but I thought there was a lot of positivity around on Saturday leacing the ground so let's all try to get behind the team. Which examples are you citing of 'change for changes sake'? Every manager we've sacked in recent times 100% deserved to be? Most have gone on to achieve better results at other clubs which shows the manager is not the only factor.

It's amazing what 'ONE' win can do.... Let's see where we're at after 8 to 12 games!!! I'm firmly bedded in the MO'N 'out' camp, and I won't change just because of one decent game.... but that doesn't mean I won't change my mind if that one decent game turns into many decent games!!! I just want to see Stoke play some good football not mind numbing football, and I'd like to see us at least make an attempt to challenge for the top 6.... Do that, and I'll change my opinion of the bloke!!! Exactly this. Saturday saw us outfox Michael 'Voldermort' Appleton, a traditional lower league manager with more clubs than Tiger Woods. I wouldn't get the bunting out just yet.... Equally one loss in London is hardy a case to get out the axe. Also that Blackpool team beat us at home last year.

This isn't a job for a rookie. Whoever comes in will be walking into a toxic atmosphere that simply removing MON with not solve. We have to do something though. Our form is relegation with him in charge. He has to go. Whoever we bring in doesn’t matter. Relegation form, after one game?

Popp, as arrogant and annoying as any male German Talking of arrogance Famous British mountaineer Don Whillans was on an International climbing expedition to Everest in 1970. Germany had just beaten England in the World Cup and one of the German climbers laughed at Don and said Ha we beat you at your National sport. Don without hesitation turned to the German and said in his Lancashire drawl, ay that may be but we beat you buggers twice at yours!

You don't half talk some ******** (sometimes, to be generous ). I think it is safe to say that it would be impossible to sign a "replacement" for Sima who could have less of an impact and the positive on-field contribution of Fletcher to the team after Christmas could be written on the back of a postage stamp. Maja was obviously more involved, but, did he really add anything to the team that would be difficult to replace? If we didn't bring anyone in to "replace" the 3 you mentioned I doubt anyone would really notice. I have my doubts about a number of aspects of our potential summer recruitment, but, not improving on the 3 you mentioned is certainly not one of them. The point isn’t their contribution it’s management belief you need that many strikers so they’ve three to find plus whatever they think is required a right back seems on the list but three strikers in one window plus a centre bacon or two have left , plus a left sided attacker and it’s a huge change they’ve given no indication they can manage effectively Centre Bacon? I bet he's Streaky
