Well the manager has gone on record now (Barclay's Premier World) that the way forward for Stoke is to bring through their own young talent. So it remains to be seen?
5 year plan anyone

Its easy when you keep spending someone else's money!
The club have clearly indicated that for financial long term stability they need to maintain their status in the premier and from here on in they need to bring their own young players through.

Regardless of what the manager does or doesn't think about playing young talent, the club (Ultimately Peter Coates) have now gone on record saying that in future they intend to grow their own talent. This has to make long term financial sense!

Not seen this mentioned on here as yet (unless I have missed) it but was interested to see Tony's comment on Barclays Premier League World on Friday night on SS2. There was a long article about Stoke's long term plans now they have become established at the top level.
Basically following on from the three year plan, Stoke are looking to invest heavily in their own academy rather than bringing players in. So they can start to develop their own grown local talent. He also said that for this to work it was vital we stay up so we can continue to fund it.
Obviously this completely contradicts a lot of peoples thoughts about the manager not intending to play youngsters.

Completely unfair, if you want to start singling out players for abuse why not include Etherington who kept giving the ball away and couldn't cross for toffee. Or Crouchy who was in Olson's pocket all game, or for that matter what about Huth who headed it straight to their player for the first goal or Sorenson for letting it in.

If you think Wilson will get torn to shreds god help us if Higgy plays there!
I would play Shotton at right back when Wilko is out!

A bit of an overreaction to an honest answer, just cause his brother is a top player doesn't mean he is?
I am sure if he is any good they will tell him, that's what their paid for isn't it!

It's interesting that everybody picks Higgy despite the fact that two of the goals came from his side.
Would somebody else be better at left back? Whitehead Wilson Delap Shotton Upson
Whoever it is needs a better awareness than Higgy!

How can you base your decision on just a couple of poor games, we played 3 of the top teams at home and gained 5 points out of nine with the same team?
Are Man united finished because they lost 1-6 at home to their bitter rivals?
Judge the players over a season

The honourable thing would be to support your team when things aren't going your way. Not just when you are doing well.
The best thing that has happened to our team for over thirty years and this is how he is repaid!

Do you honestly think that playing Huth at center halve today would have had any bearing on the result?
We were crap, end of; same as they were when we beat them at Wembley.

Skeelsy the only thing that needs to change is the attitude of you and your ilk. If you cannot see that we have done nothing but progress in the last five years then there is no hope. What is the next level anyway, the problem with so called supporters like you is you are so busy looking at the next level you can't even appreciate where you are now!

It's what stops us getting mullered and is applauded by top pundits. Two banks of four has kept us in this league for 4 years. I know lets go running up the other end gung ho like Hull and Blackpool Where are they now!!!
