They're pretty much doing exactly that. In what way? Hedging bets, not paying over the odds, not committing early, waiting on players rather than forcing the issue. They are intentionally waiting. Is it wrong - time will tell.

So the answer is: we don't. It's just how transfer business works oftentimes. The club will get deals done early where they can, but the fact is that its in players and agents interests to have multiple clubs fighting over a player, driving prices up. The club aren't sitting there thinking: "you know what, let's intentionally leave our transfer business until after pre-season..." They're pretty much doing exactly that.

maybe , but it’s their choice And it’s other people’s choice to tell them they’re talking shit, so what’s the problem? I think he has a bit (tiny) of a point though. Nothing is really sparking the imagination and suggesting that we're in for an exciting season. Two players who are used to finishing mid-table with the manager at a previous club and a thirty something left back with a dodgy injury record. Time yet though.

Welcome home? ? He wouldn't be anywhere near us without Neil. Decent signing for a club looking to finish mid-table. So you don't rate him then? He was superb and will get even better with proper fitness I think he's a decent footballer at this level and will be an asset to the team. Better than what we have but that isn't hard is it? The fact is that his career record is pretty unremarkable.

As it stands we'll be lucky to stay up. Sign a few more footballers then we'll finish mid table.
Not good enough.

He's not Premier League quality. It does not matter if he is (or not). It only matters of Luton think that he is (or not). 😅😂 Signing for a PL team getting pasted week in week out watching from the bench or key part of our promotion charge with a guaranteed start. For similar money....

And Pearson? Just wtf are we playing at The fact that they have not gone elsewhere suggests (to me at least) that we have made offers, but that the players (or their clubs) are waiting to see if anything else materialises. You can imagine someone like Pearson keeping his powder dry (even if we have made him on offer) when there are rumours of potential Premier League interest. Unfortunately, we are quite far down the pecking order at the moment. He's not Premier League quality.

Hmmmm let me think.... ££££££££££££££££ You really think we would offer that much more than he's getting at Preston to persuade him to risk the career path he's obviously got there to come to a club with a recent past of only employing managers for two or less seasons? I agree players move for money. I suspect coaches command far less and have to rely on the manager they work with as if he fails they are likely to go as well. Gallagher obviously believes in Neil and enjoys working with him. It's all relative. Neil left a bigger club on the up for money, certainly not for the glory.

Liked him as a player and seems to be well regarded as a coach. Seems a good match between him and O’Neil. As all coaches he needs to be his own man but it’s a fine line. Nothing to be dissatisfied about this appointment. Having worked and learned with Neil at Preston I am sure Gallagher likes the way the work together or else why would he leave a secure job at a club which obviously thinks a lot of him and means much to him. Hmmmm let me think.... ££££££££££££££££

Why should I worry about transfer fees? If you want the player you have to pay, nobody is forcing you to. Market dictates that young British players fees are high, it's what it is. They obviously see him as an investment as well as someone to improve their squad. City think highly of him, hence the buy back clause. He's also a full international. Makes Ellis Simms look a bargain at £8m It might. You're comfortable with us poaching AN from a bigger club, paying compensation and tripling his wages despite his average record? I'm thinking that SCFC are not interested in promotion anytime soon and we'll be assembling a squad just to keep afloat in this division.

Would you be comfortable with Stoke paying £9m for him? Saints should know better after having £16m turned down for Delap last summer, he's worth about 500k noww. Why? It's the market rate. He's got 27 minutes of first team football to his name. And?

We’re reaching daft fee time again aren’t we…it’s like pre covid levels. Simply disgusting fee. Why? It's the market rate.

I don't think the current squad looks too bad considering we've failed to finish in the top half for five seasons. It's average in the goalkeeping department, and the midfield needs a Pearson-esque player plus more creativity. We have some very promising young players and hopefully at least a couple should step up this season. It's going to get bulked out with better players, permanently and on loan. It stinks of relegation as it is. 1 million percent. Neil needs to perform miracles in the transfer market.

I think it’s more of a case of us dilly dallying year after year (monitoring situations) while clubs around us assemble their squads for next season’s challenge… every year we’re falling further and further behind until the inevitable happens, this is our biggest pre season in recent years and we’re so under cooked it’s untrue… there just seems no urgency, I take it your satisfied toxic🤷🏼♂️ When we were first relegated we got players in early for eye watering fees and on lucrative, long contracts. It has only taken us 5 years to recover. So you don't trust Neil then with money? Interesting.

Rowett would have got us promoted by now Arnie really wasnt that great, had flashes of brilliance every now and then, the majority of the time he was mardarse who spent a lot of time sulking on his arse
Super Jon Walters should be up there with one of the best signings we have made at StokeNorth Staffs oatcakes are not that bad really! theres a bit for you all too go at! Those two sentences sum up exactly what's wrong with our fanbase. Too many people prefer grafters with limited ability, to proper talent Walters was a great signing for Stoke. Sometimes you only realise things when they are not there, I certainly did with Walters.

Never used to be, money was rarely mentioned. Increase the prize money in the early rounds rather than one or two striking it lucky. They won't do that as the money might come off what the big clubs want. They've increased it considerably over the last few years. Perhaps the 'bigger' clubs should have a lesser cut in return for potentially fewer games.

True, but not really the point of the competition is it? I think it's one of the points surely, to give every little club the chance for fame now and again and keep some of them afloat! I think scrapping replays has some merit. Playing in midweek and the Final mixed in with other fixtures certainly has not. For lower league clubs, the replay can be a big deal financially. True, but not really the point of the competition is it?

He's been making mistakes for about 6 years in a row now. And very rarely has he looked like he's going to rectify those mistakes. Unfortunately it is no surprise if people may feel that will continue this year too. We were successful from 2006-2016 under there watch, then I think they made 2 glaring errors, 1 was keeping on Hughes to long, 2 was ever appointing Lambert. The other errors were appointing Rowett and Jones but as I said before that was in hindsight as a large percentage thought they ere good appointments at the time. I wouldn't lump in O'Neill as a bad appointment as he stabilised us before getting bogged down in a system that never suited us. There are a myriad of errors going back to the start of Pulis.

He's made mistakes and shows no sign of being able to learn from them, that's been the problem. How do you know he has not learned from them, remembering we have been battling against FFP for the last 3 years? Battling due to the decisions he has made!!!! Honestly, you people think this is all a conspiracy against us and they have had no part of our downfall!

And you have? I'll tell you who hasn't got a clue about football - John Coates. Unless they pull off a miracle, we're going to struggle next season. Just like we have every season with this loon in charge. That's what people are 'knicker wetting' about. Clue about about football.... get you. John Coates doesn't need to have a clue about football. He needs to employ people who do. Whether the current incumbents are the correct people only time will tell. Which is what we have been saying for a number of years
