Felipe Massa's crew attempting to overturn the 2008 F1 World Championship that Hamilton won in one of the most exciting final races I've seen: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/66857747I hope this doesn't happen. How many years would we go back? Senna was cheated out of a title, for example. Would it lead to Hamilton getting Verstappen's controversial first championship back? Massa was definately wronged by the incident, and I have very little doubt that Max and Bernie covered it up. It's for this reason, I no long fret over Lewis getting stuffed in 2021. If Massa wins his case, the Lewis will loose one championship, but will go on to win 2021. However, Massa does not have a cat in hell's change of winning in court as his case is largely based on a public comment by Bernie. Seeing that Bernie could never be described as a reliable witness, and has already said that his memory of events is unclear, the best Massa can do hear is to go for a payout to shut him up.

Sainz has been steadily going up in my estimation over the last twelve months as he's consistently out-thought his own team. It beggared belief that his team warned him about Norris getting into his DRS Zone, when it was bleeding obvious that he wanted Lando there to act as a rear gunner with DRS. Norris also knew what was going on and knew that friving like a defending team mate was his only chance of a podium. I enjoyed Lewis trying to give Russell the hurry up too!
I felt sorry for Ocon, as his overtake on Alonso deserved a points finish all by itself.

It sows division and mistrust, to weaken support for the prevailing policies of the day. It's how Brexit was won, and now they're trying to turn the public against supporting Ukraine by talking about the financial cost, corruption, loss of life, the futility of taking on Russia etc. If dissent grows, then western support for Ukraine will weaken.
Personally, I don't engage with them, as I don't wish to give them any oxygen.

There's an interesting rumour that has France being behind the assaination. It could be purely circumstantial, but France has more to gain by weakening Wagner than anyone due to current events in Niger and Mali.
It might also explain why Prigozhin and co felt safe to be travelling in Russia as the security guarantee they had, may have been genuine.

It was an act of suicide for him to be even boarding a plane in Russia. What was be thinking? Not that I remotely care for his welfare, the evil murderous bastard. Always nice to see the rats consumed by its own vermin. I imagine the plane was heavily guarded, and thought that his enemies would not be bold enough to shoot it down.

I really get worrying about tax money going anywhere tbh! It seems longdistancekiddie just doesn't care much about freedom, preventing genocide and torture etc. But saving Ukraine is a bargain if you only care about £££. Pretty cheap because we're sending expiring kit and need to restock our defence anyway. But also imagine the world where we let Putin conquer. 1 - security guarantees mean nothing. Every country needs nuclear weapons. 2 - you green light Xi's invasion of Taiwan which will cost us way way more. Even if you have zero sympathy for innocent humans being slaughtered, you should want Ukrainian victory for financial reasons. Cutting aid is only a "win" if your goal is to watch fascist jackboots crush free people. I love freedom, bot. Did you see the Sky news report from a couple of weeks ago, the mercenaries fighting for Ukraine leaving (including the ISiS ones) saying it is a complete shitte show . Stop this illegal war now. By doing what exactly?

It is interesting you mentioned driver fitness. I remember being amazed back in the 1970s when James Hunt, with his reputation as a hard drinking, smoking, indolent playboy, appeared on the BBC program Superstars and turned out to be fitter than almost all the other professional sportsmen of the time. I know Hunt was a keen runner. Senna brought fitness in motorsport forwards too, but I think Schumacher was the biggest influence. On the ranking side of things, I was going against who drivers had as competition in their era, and Clark raced against many of the best ever. Probably controversially, I wouldn't rate Schumacher up there as one of the very best. I think he relied too much on politics/unsportsmanlike behaviour and being the undisputed number 1 driver in the team. Schumacher's fitness also meant in races he could churn out fast lap after lap without tiring like his competitors, and the fact everyone else had caught up fitness-wise is perhaps partly why he wasn't as eye-catching when he returned to F1 after hiatus. Maybe even more controversially, I wouldn't rank Senna as one of the very best (but probably top of the next tier). The pressure really got to him when he joined Williams - it just seemed he wasn't coping well at all. That's nothing to do with his tragic accident though - I'm sure he would've won more titles (and was cheated out of one by another master of unsportsmanlike behaviour and politics, Prost, when the FIA head was French). I'm sort of with you regarding Schumacher, although it's worth noting that he was one to watch as soon as he came into F1. He had a habit of T-boning other cars, probably due to over-aggressive driving, but it was clear that he was a talent. Senna joined Williams in the year that active suspension was banned, and Williams had not sorted the conventional suspension set up of the car. Senna had stated that he had no confidence in the car and even predicted that it would lead to accidents. Adrian Newey said later that they had largely forgotten how to set up a car properly after dominating things with their class-leading active suspension.

I remember booing Senna at Silverstone, as I and everyone else there was caught up in Mansell Mania. It was the first time I'd experienced mild mass hysteria. did you see the latest grand tour special where they found the poor waxwork of Mansell in the museum of wax in Gdansk or wherever it was, utterly amazing tv moment Yes! That wax work museum was something quite special. Our Nige did well driving the car down the ski slope.

What the "left wing " of what? Or woke (which I thought was alert to social injustice and prejudice " have to do with this Ill never know. I believe it is woke to call out irresponsible inbreeding. Damn those woke people that care about animals being able to breathe properly. PETA have a history of being controversial for the sake of it, and sometimes they go way too far. I suspect in this case, everyone gets the publicity they want, so we can all get on with our lives. Except for bulldogs of course, who will continue to suffer until owners decide that they want a dog that can breathe properly. If anyone knows of a Pug pub, I'm sure PETA will be similarly interested.

I tried my best to not show my bias against RedBull in my comments above. Although they were guilty of an overspend, the net £400k approx actual breach does not account for the superior aerodynamic design of their car. After a year of underbody development for all the teams, none of them had anything close to the concept that Adrian Newey's team have produced. The difference cannot be explained by money. The design concept is in the same league of genius as many of Colin Chapman's innovations and other off the wall innovations seen over the years. For me, this is the reason why I have no interest in Indycar or Formula E, as there is no outlet for technical genius. The overspend was 2021 though so wouldn't that have affected that season? It was so tight between Hamilton and Verstappen that season that a milisecond could've made the difference here and there. Ferrari also royally messed things up last season when Leclerc looked like the favourite after three races. But since then Red Bull have never lost momentum. I can easily believe that the overspending could have closed the gap in 2021, but that was not the question I was answering, as I was referring to the view that the overspending is the reason for the 2022/2023 dominance.

There's very little that the FIA can do about it. Perez has the same car as Max, and whilst he is not an elite driver, he's still a good one, yet he cannot get close to Max since Red Bull worked out how to minimise the inherent understeer of the current car. It's very similar to when Vettel was dominating with a blown diffuser car that he was seemingly born to drive. Personally, I find the tampering of tegs to be distasteful; the last time it was done was the year Max first beat Lewis, when the FIA introduced a rule that favoured high rake cars over lower rake cars. It lead to the belief that the FIA were going to do everything they could to stop Lewis winning an 8th championship, and it worked. I guess the FIA could introduce something to make the cars understeer more, and therefore make the cars easier for lessor drivers like Perez, but it will also harm the other drivers that like pointy cars like Leclerc. Is it just a coincidence that Perez fell back once he started competing for wins? Red Bull have a history of strongly favouring one driver. It's no coincidence at all, but neither is it blinkered favouritism either. As I alluded to above, Perez prefers an understeer balance, and Max prefers an oversteer/pointy car. Put yourself in the position of a team principal, and who are you going to make the car suit first, Checo or Max? All the teams have found that the current rules give the cars an understeer bias which meant that Perez could on a good day, hold his own against Max because if you've maxed out the front grip of a car, the back end is going to stay planted, whereas Max prefers the front to grip, and then use his greater talent to control the rear, therefore giving him better turn-in at the cost of more instability on the brakes. Now that Max has things in the bag, the team should now put more effort into finding ways to make Checo's car work better for him without compromising Max's car.

You could make exactly the same case when Mercedes were dominant 2014 -2021 And indeed I do. Formula 1 has been boring for a long time, not just recently. In fact arguably, the last decent season was when Vettel won his first title. There need to be rules that enable several teams to be competitive, not just for a couple of teams to face-off against each other. The cost cap has been brought in to not only curb the excessive expenditure of the top teams but to also level the playing field in terms of CFD (Computational fluid dynamics) testing. CFD is by far the single most important factor in designing a fast car, and the team that wins the championship is penalised in terms of testing time, and the last-placed team gets the most. To some extent, the playing field has been levelled as a result, as shown by the closing of the time gap between the slowest team and the fastest, and yes that includes Red Bull, this is shown in the difference in qualifying times between last years Williams compared to Red Bull. The problem here is that Red Bull hit upon the best aerodynamic design from day one, and the other teams have been playing catch up, and in my view, they will never get on parity until the next rules change. You mentioned Indycar earlier, however, it's a formula series, and the differences between one car and another is minimal. This leads to closer racing, which is great, but it does nothing for pushing technical design, which is one of the cornerstones of F1, and why it's the pinnacle of motorsport. F1 has been boring for years (with some very notable exceptions) to those people only interested in the driver's championship, fortunately, if you are interested in the technical side, the inter-team dynamics, the driver rivalries and the politics of it all, then there is plenty to hold one's interest, just like there's always been.

This season is a write-off. Fair play to Max and Red Bull, both team and driver have pulled off a blinder. I don't see them being in a proper fight until the next rules change unless the FIA make a similar technical rule change to hobble Red Bull as they did in 2021 to Mercedes. Red Bull is the only team that fully understands the aerodynamics of their car, so other teams will start to close the gap, but they will always be playing catch up. It would be good to see Perez replaced with a driver that can give Max a run for his money, but I can't see that happening. They surely can’t afford the 2024 season to be a repeat of this. Viewers will switch off in droves. It’s come to the point where even if Max starts three rows back, he’s nailed on to win. The sport has turned into the motoring equivalent of the Scottish Premier League. Honestly, if Indycar was more global and had British commentators, I’d watch that instead. There's very little that the FIA can do about it. Perez has the same car as Max, and whilst he is not an elite driver, he's still a good one, yet he cannot get close to Max since Red Bull worked out how to minimise the inherent understeer of the current car. Prigozhin reported to be in St Peterburg with Putin and African Leaders to discuss grain, as Musik was trying to say above Sky claim Putin accepts War can't be won and that secret talks taking place between US and Russia both events not necessarily linked It wouldn't be the crushing victory we want, but I don't think victory is possible until next year. And Putin is gonna do everything to hold out for the US election... It wasn't how it was presented on text tv here, they didn't mention Prigozhin at all. It said Putin had met six African leaders in Johannesburg at a meeting and promised these countries food. No discussion took place. I've thought about applying for such a job, you don't have be a journalist, anyone can apply. They write the news at home from their own pc keyboard you know, sent to the tv house. Maybe not a good idea if they have a Sunday hangover, it can be wrong. Noone win this war. Will the map after all this mess even be drawn differently? Did they really say Putin was in Johannesburg? (The meeting was in Russia).

I have mixed feelings about it. The new version is more about the lyrics, than the music, it's more of a poem to music, and part of me likes it. Where it falls apart is that Roger has been travelling on an upwardly entitled trajectory for so long, that he cannot see that he's become the subject of what he despises.

They don't have to choose They can continue to be aloof Or Ajar for that matter.

This is an egregious attempt to dominate the news agenda with a half truth. If stepdad had already been told by the police no criminality had taken place how could they run a massive article on the 9th saying the presenter faced "years in prison". The "expert" also stated "The police should have been engaged as soon as they worked out whether the complaint was genuine Well the Sun knew the police had been contacted by the stepdad and were told there was nothing they could do. It's outrageous how they have simultaneously dominated 4 days of the agenda and bashed the BBC in one hit. Its like something from Succession. www.thesun.co.uk/news/22985844/top-bbc-star-child-sex-images-prison/"Under the Protection of Children Act 1978, it is an offence to "make, distribute, possess or show any indecent images of anyone aged under 18". Well that's clearly bollox for starters, as the Sun itself had naked pictures of Sam Fox and Suzanne Mizzi (amongst others) when they were just 16, spread all over it's own pages in the 80's. The law has changed since then, someone posted a link a few days ago, hence the lack of 16 year old Page Three tits these days.

If the Met come back and say there is no investigation to answer then we will be in the bizzare world of the BBC de-suspending the man. If at that point the presenter loses their job or what is left of their career drifts to nothing the Sun will be sued for a very big number. The firm issuing the son's statement is a big multinational firm clearly supported by the presenter. The wording is a clear cease and desit to the Sun, who could be in really deep shit. Not really a unique situation. I have dealt with similar but much less serious work situations where an individual was suspended to better allow an appropriate investigation is undertaken. There were several cases where the investigation did not support the original accusation and the individual was reinstated with no further action. That's a very dry way of looking at things, and although I have no doubt that you are correct, it's simply not possible to reinstate and move on.

The so called "victim" has said nothing went on... interesting development. Some serious back peddling by the Sun here.. www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-66159357the lawyer writes: "For the avoidance of doubt, nothing inappropriate or unlawful has taken place between our client and the BBC personality and the allegations reported in the Sun newspaper are rubbish." This raises so many questions. I think the word, "Clusterfuck" is now appropriate.

If somebody is an addict then you know damn well where any money they get their hands on is going. I completely agree with the personal responsibility argument, but addiction is a different animal. Regardless of the reason / expenditure of said cash, paying kids for dirty pics is illegal. It’s the dirty fucker paying that’s on trial, not the victim. Aren't you assuming that the person paying the money is fully aware of what it's being spent on and is using the drug addiction to his or her benefit? Also that the habit and addiction existed before the payments started? I agree the victim isn't on trial, but it's not clear to me how the addiction ties in with the payments, at the moment. Nor the actual relationship between the presenter and the victim. Whilst it's speculation that the presenter caused the drug habit, there's no way the presenter did not know that the teenager did not develop a drug habit. It's also possible that the teenager switched the control dynamic and turned it towards extortion. What ever the truth everything about the case is grubby.

So why do we think Wagner and it's leader have stopped their rebellion? All incredibly bizarre given it sounds like they would have been able to take Moscow. I don't think they had the supplies to feel comfortable fighting through Moscow tbh. Wagner would fire hundreds of tonnes of shells a day at Bakhmut. I think they had supplies to fight in Moscow for a day or maybe a few, and if they didn't get the army and air force on side then their Moscow convoy gets wiped out. Massive gamble and he pussied out. Also prigozhin's political branding is about being better at killing Ukrainians. If he started a civil war in Russia then he'd be helping Ukraine. There has to be more to it than just running away. It's possible that he could not get the Russian Air Force on side, which would have meant that the convoy was a sitting duck, however, that does not explain how Progozhin was allowed to leave "at leisure" and be able to live freely in Belarus.
