I've never personally heard of a technical director having the entire playing staff in for a team meeting to galvanize everyone that's a sign that Schuey has been deemed unable to get a tune out of the players so JW has had to step in. Now he's on Radio Stoke's twitter page giving a galvanizing interview again something I'd expect of the manager/head coach not the technical director.
Has the 'change' already been made and JC has marginalized Schuey without sacking him to spare his own blushes?

He's leading, which is clearly needed
He's not managing the side

I'd say that SJW occupies the role of a 'hype man' or 'vibes master'.
He's essentially Bez or Flava Flav.

Any chance of a link to the interview, for those of us, not on twitter 👍

We just need Wayne Rooney down there as assistant coach and we'd have a little posse of blue scousers all having a great time and reminiscing about the Toffees.

That clip is interesting. Walters has told the players how it is, what to do and what not to do.
What does Schumacher say now?
"Yeah lads, listen to Jon?"
I feel for him.

They've made it very clear that they work as a team within the club. I think the title Technical Director is misleading. He's more like a production line manager, overseeing all aspects of the club, which then includes talking to the "employees" in all parts of the club. No doubt he has a meeting with the tea ladies too, as he's always sung their praises for being the ones with the fingers on the atmosphere within the club.

Fantastic rallying call by Walters on radio Stoke just ….worth a listen Spoke superbly about the manager, the support and the club in general Let's hope it has the same impact as the Overson rallying cry in the 90s. Sadly I don't think modern footballers are as receptive to this kind of thing but I guess we've got nothing to lose from this approach.

You are thinking too deep mate He’s only telling the players what it’s like to play for Stoke City In his Sentinel piece he is asking that the fans "Give me 10 minutes" of an atmosphere. Am I singing Jon Walters Red and White army or Steve Schumacher's Red and White army? I'm confused. Coates has pulled an absolute trick and a half here. The "manager" is in an awful position. If we win on Saturday is it down to the coach or the temporary Technical Directors rallying call?

Interesting the first question he elbowed away on "does the club feel the same?"

Well just listening to that clip from Walters has lifted my spirits and I’m in. If the players don’t get a similar vibe from it then they can all bugger off. I’ve had many false hopes and endless disappointment in recent times with Stoke, but I feel strangely positive just watching that. Come on Stoke!

The "theories" comment must be aimed at David Brent. It shouldn't be underestimated how much that ghoulish twat walked the job and sucked the life out of people.
