Both. The name is misogynistic and some men find it funny. The fact that some men find it funny doesn't mean it isn't misogynistic.
What really brings out the misogyny is that the men who think it is funny also think they have the right to claim it isn't misogynistic because they find it funny. Presumably because misogynistic men know best.
Having said that I don't think the team should be forced to change their name - people have the right to offend and make shit jokes. However the league shouldn't force other teams to play them. The issue should be referred to an all women panel to decide the result.

The term munter means ugly and can be applied to men or women. And is currently a perfectly legal word.
To automatically assume its about women is probably more misogynistic than the team name itself. Half the team could be gay for all we know.
That being said, it's literally more modern day bollocks anyway, crying over a teams name 😄

I'm looking forward to the utopian days when the world reaches peak no offence equilibrium and all offence in every aspect of our lives is removed. Can't be far off now. Just a few more guardian articles and we should be there.......😆
Just go and beat them and then laugh at them, how bout that for a solution?

Whether the club name is misogynist (sexist, actually), a fair few gay men aren't averse to a spot of misogyny, so yeah, whatever. Stupid bloody name anyway.

More proof if we needed any that some people are offended by absolutely anything these days. Play them, beat them and give them some stick about it afterwards.

I'm actually fine with all this stuff the reason being in the circle I live in nothing is off limits when we get a together and offence is a personal thing. Just because somebody is offended doesn't mean its offensive my friends and family are all of a similar nature and brutal in piss taking.

What some men think is funny under the guise of "banter" just makes me cringe.......... Misogyny is rife throughout the whole world to some degree not just football but throughout society! Shame on them. Judging by some or the comments even on here it seems endemic among a lot of our supporters. Tin hat firmly on Wonder how they would feel if all the females in their own family were given the same treatment on a regular basis?

What are the chances that there's actually a football team named after Badgers M.O.

I suspect the majority of posters on here are 40+ males.
This is one small example in a world where lots of other small examples add up to an attitude to women that needs to change. It doesn't offend me in the slightest, I just find these things tedious and unfunny.
Thank God all of us dinosaurs will hopefully die out soon and the next generation can engage in less "hilarious" banter and more respect for one another..............

Presumably those who think the team have a right to call themselves this, would also think that teams have a right to refuse to play them.
For me, the name is totally disrespectful. Amazed that it got sanctioned.

Presumably those who think the team have a right to call themselves this, would also think that teams have a right to refuse to play them. But they'd have to concede the points and thus hand advantage to them. You're helping them win. Play them, beat them and laugh at them and have the moral high ground.

What teams want to get points without playing at that level? The whole point of football at that level is participation

It would be a lot easier to debate things like this if those who throw this label around actually know what it meant.

I listen to the lads of 15/16/17 that I coach, and my eldest and his mates and what constitutes "banter" is very different to when I was a teenager. So outside your small section of the Bet365 I do think the world is changing thankfully which as a parent of a 6 year old daughter gives me hope..........
