Interesting. Do we need another young, attacking midfielder when we have Bae?
Edit: I imagine we’ll be linked to half the Plymouth squad before the end of the window.

Just not a priority at the moment. Unless we have funds left over, we need to prioritise LB/LWB and GK. The latter could well be resolved with Iversen, but we shouldn't be bringing in any more attacking mids unless we can offload Laurent and/or DJ first.

Almost certain to be rubbish but suppose Luke Cundle is another that's a possible Norrington-Davies loan steal (maybe even a perm?) with the Schuey link. Midfield not a priority though, you wouldn't think. pasoti.co.uk/threads/luke-cundle.125837/They rate him Guy on twitter was on to something at the weekend then!

Who is he? What does he do? Is he any good? Centre mid, 21, Wolves but had loans at Swansea last season and Plymouth this season. Over 50 championship games under his belt already across a year and a half with 15 G/A in that spell.

I do get what you're saying but Pearson looks miles off it, Thompson as good as he has been lately is still no long term answer, Baker could go either way currently, Laurent may have a move elsewhere resurrected and is a bit crap anyway and DJ is a AN love child who has no long term future here. That really only leaves Burger without any serious question marks over him. So on the face of it yes we are well stocked in midfield but when you delve a bit deeper there is room to improve and Cundle would certainly do that.

More like a Johnson replacement I hope. I think he'll be one of the first the new gaffer will be ridding us of.

Swapping him on a one in one out basis for any of those named is fine not signing him in addition to. It really shouldn’t be a priority position.

I'd sell Laurent in a flash if possible, for me like Afobe came for the money but never really looked like he wanted to be here!

I'm sure we've got enough money in the pot that it won't stop us signing players in the more urgent areas. If Schuey has identified we need a different type of player in midfield though and the Cundle deal has popped up to be done then there's no harm in getting it done. I expect DJ will be on the way and maybe Laurent too injury permitting, it also wouldn't surprise me if Pearson was on his list to get rid of too, which may prove difficult given the 4 year deal we handed him in the summer.

What you expect and what is in our power to achieve are two different things. He should not be indulged by bringing players into already overstocked positions. These are the same mistakes we’ve already made. Central midfield is overstocked 1 in should be dependant on 1 out.

If we can get anyone to pay anything around a mill for Laurent (stop laughing) then fair enough. If we say Pearson/Thompson, Burger/Cundle, Bae/Baker/Johnson? for the three midfield slots that would still be overstocked, especially if Sidibe remains in first team squad contention - maybe one of Baker or Johnson to move also?
Fits our MO of getting younger players in, right?

We never know whether these rumours have any substance.
Are they genuine? Is the player's agent trying to secure a new contract with the player's present club? Is it a smoke screen for a club actually trying to get another player at another club? Is it just to shake up present players to get them to buck their ideas up?
Surely the priority has to be a goal scorer, even an older player from a lower division who actually knows where the target is! The way Shuey is stirring things up we are already creating a lot more chances to score, but we are still not sticking it in the net.

Looks like the right profile of player, but not a problem area for us righht now His goals and assists are very decent though compared to any of our current centre mids but it would surely only happen if one of Baker, Laurent or DJ leaves.

Yeah I agree but me and you don't know if there's already been talks with DJ/Laurent or one of the others leaving. If at the end of the window we've signed Cundle and not sold anyone, then yeah it's looks a bit overkill. I'm confident we'd see at least one leave though.

Vwry good player would love him here. Think he is more old box to box mid than a number 10.
