Check the sky sports highlights out of the game and tell me that mmaee is shit. One of our better players today, always a threat! Looks like our fans always have to have someone to blame: Player, manager, transfer team, Ricky Martin, board etc etc. If we got everything right 100% of the time then we'd be up there with man city 😂 Mmaee is shit.

One of Schumacher’s biggest challenges is having to tell Coates and Martin that most of the players they signed in the summer are garbage.

Can you see enough goals in the changing room? Schumacher: Absolutely. But again, you’ve got to get people in the right positions. The eights have got to score more goals, they’ve got to get forward and get into dangerous areas. I thought Ryan Mmaee, by the way, was brilliant. I know he didn't score but his all-round game today was excellent. He led the line for 90 minutes on his own. I think he gave the ball away once, maybe twice in the whole game, and he was a threat all the time and just the shots that he had unfortunately were blocked. If he keeps putting himself in those positions, he'll score the goals that were going to need. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-millwall-live-stream-8993313I think he’s being very generous about today but agree with the sentiment for sure.

I think Dave Regis summed up Mmaee perfectly today in that he's not a striker that likes to play with his back to goal, play to his strengths get players around him and I think he will get goals, a forward line of mmaee with bae behind and haks and Campbell either side wide will be more enough

Wesley is exactly the same. Play a 10 and both would do better. Just put someone near them. Even Johnson wouldn’t be the worst there (he has the energy to run right to left to support the flanks as well). However, it just has to be Bae.

People don’t like Mmaee because he goes down and does get bullied a bit. I see a fair bit of quality in him, he can certainly play. Once he adapts to what this league is all about I think we will see we’ve got a quality player on our hands. Incidentally, was watching an interview with Zola the other day - he was saying it took him a bit of time to adapt to English football when get got here as it was just so brutal compared to Italy. Not comparing the two players, but even world class forwards can take a bit of time to adjust and adapt their game. Clearly the manager rates him, and that’s what matters

As it stands both Mmaee and Vidigal are looking pretty poor. Their rolling around on the floor antics are particularly annoying. Jacob Brown looked like a world beater compared to these pair and they need to up their game considerably. It is a sad situation where I would prefer Brown to absolutely any of our current front players. What he lacked in skill, he at least tried to make up for in effort. Unfortunately they are not alone, I don't see skill or effort from any of our current crop of front players and others and was really expecting so much more from the likes of Mmaee, Vidigal, Leris, Johnson et al. What a complete disappointment our front line recruitment,in particular, has been. Maybe 5 or 6 maximum (and that's being generous) of the total 19 summer and later influx looking anything like they could do a good job for us. My 5 or 6 being Gooch, Burger, Junho, Junior, Pearson, when he isn't getting stupid unnecessary bookings and also McNally (loan and likely to be recalled in January) most of the time, when he isn't having brain farts like he did today. Where did it all go so wrong?

Mmaee is used in a unfamiliar position it looks like to me. He's not a no.9, you can see that he always looks for passing opportunities. I think he'll come good. Vidigal is neither quick nor especially good at dribbling. I don't see what he has to offer at the moment. He was poor yesterday bar a few nice touches/moments. You can see he has clear and obvious quality when he’s in the box, we just don’t get it to him there enough. He does need to learn how to use his body and hold the ball up.

I'm seeing a striker who is isolated against two centre halves most of the time and struggling with nobody within 10 foot of him. I'm seeing that when we do get the ball into his feet with quality and bodies around him, a striker that opens the game up and creates. If others can't see that then I can't help them. Bare in mind we're dealing with fans that wrote Arnautovic off within weeks, labelled him a bone idle show pony before crying like babies when he jacked us off for West Ham. With respect mate, I've seen this argument loads of times down the years, going back as far as Peter Thorne who was villified to death. No one gets anywhere near him. What the fuck is he meant to do? Against 2 of the most physical and aggressive CBs in the league. Today isn’t the day to be judging our strikers.

While I agree we should be playing 4-2-3-1, it'll be interesting to see what excuses get brought out for Mmaee when he looks pants in that system as well. If Schumacher thought he played well today then I'm already very concerned.

Or maybe he’s just publically backing the only real striker we option to give him some confidence whilst he’s low on confidence and adapting to his second manager in a new league.

If Schumacher thought he played well today then I'm already very concerned. I thought he played reasonably well as well to be fair. I was impressed that he always seemed to get first contact on the ball. I was less impressed that he was a bit like a trampoline with his touch but I do think he’ll come good if we give him the time.

He looked to have stepped up to another level yesterday and worked really hard, a goal or two will really kick him on I feel, Vidigal on the other hand, not sure, he's certainly regressed for me.

I think once he gets used to the physicality he’ll be a different player for us. We forget he missed about 8 weeks through injury just after he got a couple of goals.

I really like Mmaee, definitely a player there…… I've been reading this thread wondering how I'm so out of step with everyone else it seems. Apparently Mmaee is shit. But the player I'm watching is really impressing me. He has great balance. Can beat a player. Competes for the ball when just smacked up in his general direction. Some of his layoffs yesterday were class. 90% of the rest of the time he was being assaulted (the ref gave quite few free-kicks but no yellows from recollection). Yes, he's taking a few too many touches when in front of goal. The manager can work on that. The goal against Sunderland shows what he can do when he acts decisively. No doubt I'll get loads of shit for saying anything positive about him, but frankly I'll be pissed off if the club doesn't give him a chance to succeed. On praise and grumble some were moaning about his lack of clinical finishing and advocating a switch with Wesley. Yes....Wesley.

I see him exactly the same way, it's clear that 433 isn't suited to him and almost all of our forward line and mmaee is not a back to goal forward, when we play to his strengths like we did more in the second half he will score he's a good player

A bit worrying that Schumacher thinks Mmaee was brilliant yesterday. He’s why we are not a threat up front. Maybe if he played alongside a target man he might be better, but feigning injury , not tackling back just making a token effort and he did lose the ball every time it was played up to him. I’m not convinced we have a striker in him. Typical foreign powder puff frightened of getting stuck in player, im afraid.

Why would he do that. He wasn't asked specifically about Mmaee but thought he merited a special mention for the way he played. He was on his own for 90 minutes had two of our better efforts both of which he created for himself. He never stopped running and covered the whole width of the pitch. Apart from not scoring made him terrible yesterday?

That is the justification for my opinion. Please give me justification for why you think he was so terrible.

He has good technical ability and looks one on the most likely players to actually create something. The problem he has is that this is the Championship and every week he is going to be coming up against big, burly, non-nonsence central defenders who will not give him an inch. He looks very weak and is consistently physically out-muscled. Maybe he will come good with time? However, I do have my doubts about whether he is capable of playing as a lone striker. Maybe he would be better coming from a wider position?

It's yet another game where the only chances he had, he had to create for himself though? People are bemoaning our lack of goalscoring yet failing to see the bigger picture of a side that has so little creativity and craft in it. Swapping out Mmaee for another striker might yield us more of a target man, more of a channel runner and more of a link player if you pick the right player to come in, but it won't fix the goalscoring issue until we fix the supply line to whoever is playing up front. Strikers are generally the finishing touch to your teams but for as long as I can remember at this club they are the first line of defence, the creators from deep, the link players and the goalscorers because manager after manager hasnt had had a single clue on how to set a side up to score goals and to create regular chances for a striker. You can count on one hand the amount of chances any of our strikers have had created for them in the box this season, including Mmaee. The other week the missed penalty was the first time he touched the ball in the box, at home and it was reasonably deep into the second half of the game. Yesterday he had just 39 touches of the ball in 90 minutes of football and just 5 were in their box. Most of them were fight balls against two giants on the halfway line. No striker can thrive off that. It's garbage.

Given Mmaee had zero support for the most part i thought he was okay, if he had someone around him he could lay it off too no one would be complaining but as it is he has to hold off two or three defenders while waiting an age for someone to give him an option.
