It’s a fair question. What’s better for a young players development, regular game time in league 1, or sitting on the bench getting a few minutes here and there in the championship? Playing regularly as a sub is good development. I think he’d do well and end starting games. That’s not really the answer to my question. Is it better for a young players development to play every week in league 1 or sporadically from the bench in the championship?

I’m assuming he’s eligible to play in the play offs which will be televised. Should be interesting to watch him play if selected and see where he’s at.

Because 18/19 year olds sitting on a nine man bench are going to be low down in the list of options to change a game in the championship. He’s better off getting game time elsewhere at the moment. I understand that’s a tricky one with his contract situation, but he’s 12/18 months behind in his development.

We could always send him out until January and then give him a shot. There’s no point in weakening the team for an injury prone teenager who may or may not sign another contract.

How’s that going to develop him? Better to be getting starts in league one or two. How is playing regularly as a sub going to develop him? Really? A regular sub or a regularly playing sub are two completely different things. He’s not going to get regular game time in the Championship judging from the feedback from his current loan. He’d benefit far more from a decent loan at another league one club with the possibility of bringing him back in during the January window.

No, we can’t accept “if he goes, he goes”. Not in this case. He’s a really bright, talented young player. I’m not one who normally falls for hype and over rates the youngsters but Tezgel is one we need to keep and nurture. It’s the next step that’s crucial with him. It will be gutting to see him go and succeed elsewhere.

However, Stoke shouldn’t be held to ransom by a kid. If we can’t get him to sign a new contract with a defined development plan, I don’t see how 5-10 sub appearances will do it either.

What we have to remember is that our objective in the short term is to get results.
We can't be having a player on the pitch who isn't ready for this level yet, just because bayern thinks it'll be good for his development. Look how much Lowe has struggled when he's been on the pitch.
If we went out and signed a player who's been in and out of the first team at League Two level and declared that he was going to be around the first team next year, there'd be uproar. We need players who are ready to contribute at this level, which a L2 substitute isn't going to be.
I'm sure that the lad will have a good future at a high level, but very few players are ready for the Championship at 18.

Lowe isn’t the player Tezgel is though. Not even close really.

Why have some people suddenly decided he'll leave if we don't play him. From the small amount of media he's done he comes across as a well grounded, sensible, lad. He may well understand and accept the need to go out on loan and be quite happy to do so. Harry kane had 4 loans before he played regularly for Spurs at the age of 21.

You’d rather see us down playing youngsters so you can further berate the club and justify opting for the youngsters in the league below to further your agenda. Most can see it, and it’s just an awful position to hold. The fact, and I believe it, that you think a L2 loanee is good enough to play in two leagues up at 18 is just ridiculous. The fact that people agree is worrying.every option is valid regardless of how ridiculous they are.

Enough said Yes, when I said “keep and nurture” what I meant was ensure he stays as a stoke city player and don’t allow him to slip away. I’d be sending him out on loan next season.

3 goals and 3 assists in the last 2 games, he’s coming along nicely as far as I can see. Look at him in pre season before deciding to loan him or give him a chance as a sub who will get game time and definitely tie him down contract wise.

So a player won’t develop unless they’re at Stoke? That is literally what you’re saying. Can I confirm that is what you’re saying? I don’t want there to be any ambiguity. Let me know please.

Scored a fantastic backheel today similar to his one for the U21s a while back but was chalked off for offside Allowed goal from 0.50 Disallowed goal from 1:15 [edit] Tidy assist from 1:30 Not the most active of threads, but a little bit of feedback from the MK Dons fans
