The infamous 'grass' training period of our injured rehabilitation
It must be like the Darkest Congo, 8ft high, inhabitants of which never to be seen again

Right, now get him in the side in his proper position, just behind the front, taking pot shots and free kicks and our goal difference will be on the up!

I’d like to see him back. He was real class when he first game. There’s a quality player in there if he gets his head down

Unless there's something gone on behind the scenes that we're not privy to, and the taking the club captaincy off him might indicate there has, then we'd be foolish not to give him a run out before the January window. If he does well he's back in the squad if not then he's available in the window. In any event even if he has burnt his bridges it gets him in the spotlight for a move and he might be motivated to attract bidders. At his peak for us in that first half season he was a stand out player. Hopefully he can regain that after his injury.

Right, now get him in the side in his proper position, just behind the front, taking pot shots and free kicks and our goal difference will be on the up! I agree with this. He definitely has quality, & is probably the best free kick player we have. He will be surrounded by players who want to play for this football club. Players with more ability than his previous team-mates. Maybe that will brush off, & he could be an asset. Like a new player. We can only hope, anyway.

If his attitude is right then that's where he should play assume we will see him over the xmas period expect he will play cautiously so as not to get an injury before the Jan window

Doesn’t fit in an AN 433.
If AN let two players sit further back and had Baker stand next to Wesley and take pot shots at the goal from 25 yards, he’d end the season comfortably in double figures, which is something I don’t expect for any of our other central midfielders.

I agree, I just don’t see him doing it in a 433. You can’t run yourself into the ground and take decent free kicks and long range shots, you need to have something left in your legs. AN would rather someone run around than score goals.

Could he play a role for us? I think so
Is he going to? I very much doubt it
Hope he and AN prove me wrong as I think he's got something to offer.

He could be competition for Johnson and Laurent neither of whom have been consistent enough in that advanced midfield role. At his best he is better than both but that's up to him to prove. We do have to bear in mind that he was playing injured last season which might explain his drop in form alongside playing deeper. Playing injured doesn't suggest a falling out with the club or he'd have refused to play.

If we can somehow get him on in an advanced position, he could be an asset with his long range shooting, plus we are due a penalty.

Didn't he have a kid? Hasn't he got a history of this kind of thing too? Perhaps he didn't like the new manager and preferred things easier? All his mates got sent packing and to be honest it's only a matter of time for him unless he shows he's interested in even playing football again (without just picking up a wage for free). Lots of big changes. I would question his desire to make it to the top level. Perhaps he thinks he made it?

Our midfield has tightened up of late and I'm not sure what problem Baker solves. Lack of goals from midfield maybe.

Wouldn't get in ahead of Pearson or Burger (& Burger is not on top of his own game atm, think that will come second half of the season) Prefer Thompson if Pearson out If Baker plays it should be behind the striker where we know he would score goals Personally prefer Haksabanovic in that role or Junho DJ has had good and bad games however he's not going to score or assist too often Laurent has been underwhelming, he does have a good shot on him though

I was excited to have them coming on as subs last week v Cardiff but both were disappointing and did nothing to affect the game. Coming on against a tiring defence they should both have done more. Haks in particular made so many bad decisions. I like Junho, he looks like a team player who makes space and sees passes but needs to learn to cope with the physicality. I don't think he hides from the challenges but he hasn't yet learned how to use his body to keep possession.

I do say he doesn't seem afraid of the physicality just that he loses out too often at the moment. He's not afraid to get in the middle of stuff but is often a peripheral figure due to lack of nouse because he is still learning. I think Baker is competing for that position along with Bae, Johnson and Laurent and at although I like Johnson I think Baker at his best could make it his.
