He’s really grown on me recently, lovely left foot, seems a lot more composed. As others have said I would have him over Pearson on current form.

I think I would rather have him than Stevens. Why we bought a player that had not been playing regularly for 2 years is beyond me - why he was the only left-sided defender we brought in is baffling even more so given his age - was it something to do with his pal Mr Dublin
But here is a thought - how about we buy a decent left-sided defender in the window. Every manager in every club in the land will tell you in an ideal situation you should have 2 players competing for each each position - we arguably don't have a viable left-sided defender in the squad. We shouldn't be having conversations about what is the best square peg to fit a position - if we have any ambition to finish in the top half.
Let's hope the latest British punt can count and realises this - defence has been totally neglected for years and this needs to change if we want to move forward.
Rottweiler 6ft 7in central defender, rock the city left-sided defender & GK needed as absolute priority in this window

Very good today. Seems at home in that left back slot.

Very good today. Seems at home in that left back slot. Iirc his side struggled when they had 11 but I couldn't tell whose fault that was. He looks just fine there, but also at CDM. Earned his name on the team sheet recently.

I think he would cost a Bob or two.

I have always said that Thompson is a really solid player at this level. I think that he has received some unfair stick at times.
The lad clearly has a great attitude, works hard, and has never let us down when he is called upon.
I think that he offers much greater urgency, energy, and enthusiasm than Pearson does at the moment. The fact that he has filled in so well at left back really helps us as well.
Whether he is good enough to be a starting player in a team that can challenge for promotion is a very different question. However, for now he is doing just fine and it seems like Schuey rates him.

Thompson does work hard yes but for me he lacks quality and some of his passing is awful

Is he out of contract in the summer?
Definitely worth another one, even if it's just as a squad player next season. When the fixtures are coming as thick and fast as the injuries, players like Thompson are worth their weight in gold.

We looked much more solid with him in the middle over Pearson. Pearson was absolute dogshit again, I'd get him gone before Baker. We really need a left back, keeper and another wide player imo.

Very good today. Seems at home in that left back slot. I’ve always banged the drum for JT as a midfielder but he really didn’t look “at home” at LB to me. Absolutely everything came down that side for them in the 1st half. His passing was pretty off as well, although at least he was trying to play forward passes when he tucked into midfield. I guess he was asked to do quite a lot really.

Thompson is fine at left back. Not necessarily good, but fine. I doubt we’ll be spending too much in January. Originally, I thought that left back would be a priority but I’d be okay with it if we left Thompson there to be honest.

I feel that Thompson would be better replacing Pearson in Midfield if we can get a good left back.

Indicates LB not a priority this Jan? www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-bae-junho-thompson-9043954“I wouldn’t say he’s filling in,” said Schumacher. “I think that position and the way we ask the full-back to play lends itself to a central midfield player or a midfield player, being able to handle the ball in there. He’s done really well. “Defensively Jordan competes, he's aggressive. He's really good in one-on-one situations and he's really comfortable on the ball and going in the middle of the pitch because that's where he's been used to playing for the majority of his career. “He’s doing really well, I’ve been really impressed with him in all the games that he’s played. He played in midfield for us against Birmingham last time we played them and he did really well then too. If he plays full-back this weekend then I’m sure he’ll do well again.”

We certainly need a LB. Should be a priority.
But Schuey's words do mirror what we're seeing on the pitch.
It was Jordan Thompson that played a neat one-two with Baker (with Thompson playing centrally, almost on the right of the pitch) that won us the freekick which Baker thundercunted into the back of the net vs Rotherham. Happened a fair few times as well. All this whilst Thompson was generally at left back.

Makes you wonder if we are possibly after a striker + winger/forward?.

Enda Stevens should never play for us again. Jordan Thompson has done well when played but is a central midfielder. Now you've written the list down I think LB is an even bigger priority

I think of all the positions we need right now..LB is one that we could probably get by with what we have until the summer.
A striker and a quick winger will improve us a hell of a lot.
A LB won't help us with our main problem of creating and scoring

You can't really argue with Schumacher.
I think Thompson can do a very good job in midfield, but presently only as cover for Burger.
Playing Baker alongside Burger clearly makes sense right now.
So Thompson becomes our most capable left back. He's solid there.
It's the only way he gets on the pitch right now, and I like him.

Good little player he's turning into. Versatile, mobile and with a bit of bite. He's been very impressive under Schumacher, and one I've always liked to be honest.

Excellent again on Saturday. Why haven't we offered him a new contract, his ends this summer. The only thing I can think of, is the build up for their first goal where it broke to Miyoshi and he just wasn't close enough, but neither was Baker. Just a slight thing and it should have been cut out by the CB's.
