James Beattie beats Freddie Steele. Yep, makes sense.
These lists are always stupid. They should just restrict them to most influential by generation (every 20 years or so?).

I love Mama Sidibe, but even as someone who never saw Steele, Greenhoff, Ritchie etc, I still don't think he'd make it into a top 10 of strikers I've seen play for us.

Harsh to have Stein not even make the top 3 when according to the article he travelled back in time nine years to score a Wembley winner.

Stein, no. Can't give a player stop spot who never played for us in the top flight.
Walters I agree with . Over 40 goals for us and was about far more than goals.

Donโt think โnonsenseโ quite covers it. Freddie Steele 11th is a joke 140/224 Thorn and Stein were nowhere near as good as Greenhoff. And Fuller 43/182 and Walters 43/226 , 1 and 2 really?

Stein, plus a few others didn't score their Stoke goals in the top flight. Should that be the defining metric though? Or should it be their importance to the team at that time? Not sure many Wolves fans would have Kenny Miller above Steve Bull in their pantheon of strikers, for example...

What a nonsense list that is but even allowing for the stupid order we really have had a vacuum of decent strikers down the years.
It really is and always has been our Achilles heel.
Goalkeepers and defenders and even midfielders we've had our fair share but only three or four prolific strikers in our entire history.
Steele, Ritchie, Stein, Thorne and that's about it for any sustained period.

Guess you argue that Jimmy G wasn't a striker
Steele or Ritchie If including Jimmy then he's 3 If not then Stein Ric

It struck me reading that how Thorne was signed โas a replacement for Sheronโ, who in turn was signed not long after Steino had left - what a tremendous little run of forwards we had in the 90s, especially if you throw the likes of Bertie and Sturridge in there as supporting acts as well. My coming-of-age years as a Stoke fan, little did I realise having a talismanic striker who scored a goal every other game was very much the exception and not the ruleโฆ ๐

Big Bren was better than Kenwyn. Kenwyn should not be on any list except lazy arses. Heโs right up there with Lightbourne. FFS, youโre top all time scorer 8th. Crooksy not even on the list. Like him or not Crooksy was a top player.
Walters ahead of Greenhoff ๐๐๐ Too hilarious even for comment
