You never know. Many people treasure their unfulfilled childhood dreams. If the terms were right and he was convinced that there was a realistic chance of leading Stoke to the Premier League, maybe he would be tempted. If the choice is between us and a top end Championship club, or a top flight club here or abroad, I don’t see him being a Stoke fan being a big factor at all tbh. But a strong end to the season and money in the bank will make us a top Championship club. Obviously we can’t compete with the Prem nor Champions League football.

He’s been a success at Rovers and they are at this moment better than us. I think that’s going to be good for thought for him as well. I'll be very surprised if he takes a 1 year deal I think he’ll have a better offer on the table than one or two years from somebody tbh.

It’ll make us a top half Championship club with a bit of momentum and that’s obviously something to strive for but I don’t think that’s the same as being a proper promotion contender like a newly relegated side or one of the bigger clubs in the division who’ve been in the mix for longer.

If we can pull off an upset at Middlesbrough it’s going to change a lot of minds. If on the other hand AN brings Cluckers on at some point in the game, we may as well not show up.

He is exactly why Blackburn are where they are in the league. End of, sign him and we would piss this . Ah yes despite having not scored for 14 games prior to Tuesday

People said we had no chance of signing Liam Delap but it happened because he wanted to be here. Liam Delap was a fucking waste of time and money. Hope he goes on to have a good career, but for us it was just a load of hype and sentimental Rory bolloocks.

Come on mate it was about the hottest Prem loan deal going.. he chose us over many other options because of the family history with Stoke, if anything it was him being sentimental

Blackburn could still get promoted, he's entitled to wait and see. Does he live locally to us?

I don't know if it's been pointed out, but Villa Real are not a massive Spanish club. Their average home attendance is around 16,300. They won the Europa league think it was last season beating Man United in the final so they aren't exactly a small club either.

He may well be good enough for us in the Championship but I'm not sure he's Premier quality. As for the probability of him coming here I'd be inclined to say its slim to none existent.

He may well be good enough for us in the Championship but I'm not sure he's Premier quality. It’s hard to put your finger on what qualities show you have what it takes to be a Premier League striker. Goals alone aren’t enough, as Jordan Rhodes and Brereton’s predecessor at Blackburn, Adam Armstrong will testify.

He literally said in the interview that he did 🤷🏼♂️ Are we taking that interview seriously? Players rarely declare their true intentions in public, the impression I got was that he was being diplomatic, knowing there will be plenty of tempting offers in the summer and not wanting to show his hand. Many a true word said in jest

I thought he signed for Villareal in January on a pre contract agreement.
That Fabrizio Romano who usually calls things accurately said it was complete and will sign in June.
If he's available he would be a massive free transfer. I can't see him signing below top level football to be honest.

Looking at the reports, the latest being the Blackburn chairman confirming that Ben has been in talks with Villareal and they've made a lucrative contract offer however he's not signed anything yet.

If it's your boyhood team with a few £££££ in the contract you never know. Blackburn are offering him £30k a week supposedly, and I’d be surprised if we offered more than that. He might get his dong out.

I think we all hope that there is more clarity and logic in the transfer dealings. Do we have more scope within FFP this summer? I don't fully understand the mechanisms to be honest.

Am I right in thinking that we’ll have a lot more wiggle room but that the spectre of FFP will still be looming somewhere not too far away?

A family of idiots who have amassed billions, who would you prefer holding the purse strings? Have you been asleep for the past 6-7 years? They made some major errors. Everyone is a genius with hindsight. I know there were some worried people but I remember the general consensus heading into that first season was that we were going to storm the league.

30k per week for 4 years with no up front fee would be good business I think. That would be just over 6 million for b a 20 goal season
He's 23, he would be 27 at the end of the contract so would have value throughout his contract you would think.
Every transfer has risks but this one would be worth taking. That said there would be a few wanting him

How many times do they have to make the same errors before ‘hindsight’ stops being trotted out as an excuse? What lessons have they learned exactly?

We are only just getting the wage bill under control. Now is not the time to start paying silly money on wages again.
