I'm pretty sure its already agreed for Pearson to sign up for next season. He only signed on loan to make sure it got over the line on transfer deadline because of how late the deal came about it. We are able to make it permanent at any time and doing so would be helpful so I’d say you’re wrong otherwise we’d have done it already. Maybe there is an FFP reason for delaying?

Hopefully Pearson is set to join us, as he is a must sign. Sterling should be signed if possible. Smallbone would be a good permanent addition. Sarkic would be a suitable keeper. Tuenxabe would be brill, though unlikely Celina, would like to see more, especially with Pearson in the middle, feel he would be very creative. Hoever I think is not a good defender, though an exciting wide attacker.
A striker is essential also if Lowe/tzenby are not ready.
Clucas must go!

If Bournemouth come down then it’s hard to see us getting Pearson unless he requests a move. (3-4m)
Tuanzebe is on wages that we can’t afford unless he wants to take a significant drop (larger sign on bonus maybe?) (free unless United take up their year, then we’re out of the running because he’ll be somewhere in the 5-8m bracket)
Smallbone I suspect will be at Southampton if they’re relegated or if they stay up and keep ward prowse then might go to a promoted team. (Again with add ons I can see this approaching 4-5m)
Celina, not sure what he offers or if there’s a point…
Sterling would be the one I’d prioritise but on a free he’ll have a lot of offers. I think Chelsea will trigger their extension clause to get some compensation.
Sarkic, I’d sign him but the injuries are a concern - 1-1.5 m?
Hoever I really like, however they’re going to want most of their investment back - 5m? Seems unlikely we’d pay it

I take all the points about clubs wanting a return on their investments, but you forget how little £9-15 Million means to rich Premier League clubs. It wouldn't surprise me if they were willing to take a hit. Just look at what we did with Berahino/Imbula/Afobe etc. Although it's not commercially sound, it's what teams to do.
Pearson - 80% chance of signing. The Neil/northern link should work in our favour. £2.5 Million Sterling - 80% chance of signing. Chelsea might throw something at him just so they can make something out of it (more loans etc) Free/Loan Sarkic - 70% chance of signing. He's decent, but not sure he'll ever be a PL quality goalkeeper and, at 25, he needs games. £3-4 Million Smallbone - 60% chance of signing. He might also want to test himself at Southampton, whether they are relegated or not. £3 Million / Loan if Southampton stay up Tuanzebe - 30% chance of signing. He's on far too much money and will probably have far better offers. Unless he fancies giving it a full season here next time around with a massive signing on fee Hoever - 30% chance of signing. Cost Wolves a fair bit and if he carries on like the last few weeks, I think he could be PL quality. I thought he was cack originally. £4 Million / Loan
I don't know how much we have to spend, but I reckon to buy all of them, you'd be looking at a fair whack of cash.

We wouldn't buy/loan Sterling and Hoever as they're both right backs. Sterling playing out of position because he can which makes him one to push for. Pearson is made for us and then I think we look elsewhere when we have room to breathe and money to spend.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were willing to take a hit. If they paid £12m and it's the last year out of 3 in the contract then that's only £4m with the way accounting works, isn't it? Also every £20k of salary is £1m/yr so taking off their hands for £3m is really their break-even point.

Our record doesn't show it, but I think it's easier to replace Sarkic or the others than it is to replace what Pearson brings. A proper CM of his calibre is way harder to find so I want him.
After Pearson I'd try hard for Smallbone, even if we have to drop Powell for wages.
Then Sterling if he's free.
The others I would be happy to get but not at the valuations you lot are throwing about. I'd rather have Souttar than Tuanzebe, so anything near Souttar costs (inc salary) would be a step back IMO.
Clucas fucking off should help wages no? Even though I think he took a wage cut iirc.

Pearson would be a massive signing .
Hoever is apparently disliked at wolves and has burnt his bridges there . Though could move anywhere .
It's tempting to say, we need less loans and more good young players of our own in the team . that's the only way for us to carry on banking nathan collins / harry souttar style profits . it's the only way for us to show, up and coming young players , come to stoke and shine and you move your career on .
the problem is in january , the only way we could get in Axel/Pearson quality was through the loan market Why should the summer be any different ?

Hope we can sign a good number 1 keeper permanent and also Pearson permanent .
But lets face facts , next season , the loan market will be massive for us and shape our season
A poor batch of loan signings like MoN's summer loans , we are in trouble .
A good batch of loans ( like this january ) and happy days
What AN/Ricky Martin do in the loan market this summer will ( to a significant extent ) shape our season

I think we can got Hoever on loan for the 23/2 season.
I think we can get Pearson for around 3 million, Sterling would be free, Sarkic wouldn't be a lot I wouldn't have thought but cant see us landing Smallbone who will go back to Southampton I would have thought.
If we can get the others and then a top class striker, winger and another centre back I think we will be in with a great shout. Brereton-Diaz would be amazing but I think he would be out of reach, Sam Gallagher would be good

A number 1 goalie? But you would need a lot of money to sign Axel and pearson and hoever and celina and sarkic loans will be very important to us , next season too

Maybe there is an FFP reason for delaying? ive heard its done too, as is Charlie Creswell Why would we sign Pearson and not announce it? Especially as we have 7 loans and his signing would help with this problem.

Maybe depends a bit on what trickery we managed with COVID rules. I'm not sure the shackles are gonna be off exactly, but I hope we'll have removed the ball and chain. EDIT: Looking only at McLean... Through 2021 he was costing us £1.25m/year in depreciation plus salary (£1m?). If Brown is his replacement then that could free up to ~£1m/year.

FFP has made us have to make lots of crazy decisions, what's the reason this one would be any different? It may not be, but I wouldn't write it off. There could be a benefit to the amortisation of any new contract starting in the new season, rather than now, or even the announcement of it. Both Burnley and Huddersfield have delayed accounts recently, which is unusual as the accounting periods and their deadlines wouldnt come as a surprise.

It looks like a player fee doesn't all go into the FFP books in one go. We paid £5 mil for McLean in 2018 on a four-year contract but in the FFP books it's treated as 4 yearly installments of £1.25m. FFP rules usually go over 3 years I think. If it wasn't for COVID I think we'd be scratching off 2019/2020 from the FFP calcs and replacing it with this year. Basically, even though we got rid of McLean a while ago, the stink of his fee and wages still follows us around a bit. (I don't mind McLean, just think he's a good example and certainly by the end he wasn't worth what we were paying)

At the end of the 20/21 season the whole squad was only valued at 10.7 Million

Pearson is the only must.
Would be nice to get one of Hoever or Sterling if not both but they are on Premier wages at their current clubs and the better they play for the rest of the season the more clubs are going to be interested. I don't think footballers can make a choice of club based on a manager as a few months into their three year contract he could be sacked so I don't think the regular football/enjoying being at the club will sway them in their decision.
Smallbone and Tuanzebe we have no chance even of a loan. Southampton have always kept a keen eye on Smallbone and even considered not loaning him out last summer and why would Utd extend Tuanzebe's contract to loan him out? We need at least two goalkeepers but not sure if Sarkic should be one, he too is on Premier wages presumably.
Celina would probably be the easiest but looks very unlikely to get playing time here this season so probably won't want to join.

Chelsea frequently extend contracts of players they have little intention of playing tbf. Having played so little football for so long, it'd be a surprise if Tuanzebe didn't go out on loan somewhere. What happens with Smallbone depends on who the manager is come the summer. Nothing to say their plans last August for him are the same as their plans now, three managers on.

In answer to the OP we probably don't have enough money to sign all the loan players and even if we did it's doubtful any of them would want to come here - they are all are at Premiership clubs who will pay better even if any of them get relegated - and in most cases (other than Sterling) their clubs will probably want to keep them or, in the case of Hoever, will want more than we can afford.
We'll do well to make one of them permanent and if we do it will be Pearson or Sterling.
