I guess it was good for Argentina that the World Cup was held in December, as it's summer in Argentina. Their other victories both took place during the coldest time of the year for them. Yesterday the Croatian team had to do their public reception in heavy winter coats, as it was below freezing.

I don't like the Argies because of that (even though I think he's the greatest player who ever played the game) cheat Maradona Because of what else that went on, I don't see Maradona as a cheat based on that England match - he was kicked and battered to shreds. In other news, I wonder if Messi and Co still want this: "I showed the rest of the boys in the Argentina squad their stuff [Oasis] and I promise you, everybody absolutely loves it. A few knew a couple of their songs but for most of them it was their first listen. We have agreed that if we win the World Cup we want to fly them over to Argentina for our celebration party. We just need them to name their price." www.nme.com/news/music/oasis-207-1289921

As a neutral who wasn't really bothered who won even though I probably wanted France to win it so we could say that we were beaten by the eventual world champions, I really enjoyed the game (I probably was swayed afterwards when the BBC interviewed a French supporter and he said he wasn't too bothered because "We beat England, which was more important", so that cancelled out my preference for them), Argentina deservedly won the most amazing, sensational WC game I've ever seen. It was crazy stuff packed with drama right until the final penalty was scored. And I don't think we will ever see the likes of it again. It also settled many things. Messi is the best player of his generation and Ronaldo can go and sit in his corner and sulk his arse off because this tournament has ended any talk of him being better than the little Argentinian genius. As an added bonus, we also got to see the probable genius of this generation of players in Mbappe. He's an amazing player. And now to go into why many people hate the Argies. I don't like the Argies because of that (even though I think he's the greatest player who ever played the game) cheat Maradona and not because they were forced to fight a war against us by that mad dictator, Galtieri, who had to do shit to save his arse. I didn't agree with the war at the time and I still think it was madness by two opposing mad people; Galtieri and Thatcher, to save their own skins. We lost some of our bravest and most precious members of our armed forces, which saddens me deeply. But our losses of 253 were counterbalanced by the loss of 650 lives on the Argentinian side. As always, it's ordinary people who die while politicians play politics. So, leaving aside the politics, at the end I was pleased Argentina won it. After watching the 80 minutes of dross the French served up, any other result would have been a miscarriage of justice. Just one thing spoiled it for me. The antics of the Argentine goalie during the penalty shoot-out was disgusting. There should be a rule that if a 'keeper does stuff like that then he gets a straight red card. There's no doubt that the young French lad's missed penno was due to what the goalie had done. So, a red card and the penalty retaken and that would stop the shithousery. Whatever, apart from that incident, the best team won and I feel blessed that I was able to watch the most sensational game in WC history. OS. Great post OS.I felt no joy for Argentina though. One knobhead French fan saying beating England is more important doesn’t mean most or many other French people feel like that. Just a snap shot of a dickhead. We have such dickheads amongst us too. More probably. BM

The World Cup medals this year are about 4 times larger than in the past. They're similar to Olympic medals now. Olympic medals are also bigger now than they were a few decades ago. http://instagram.com/p/CmWGe3BIIo-

http://instagram.com/p/CmUv48DLvxd This has just become the most liked Instagram post of all time, surpassing the 2019 record set by an egg. I've been watching Messi versus the egg in real time the last hour, with Messi fans retracting their likes of the egg and anti-Messis, including a healthy number of Ronaldo fans judging by the comments, upvoting the egg to try to prevent Messi from breaking the record. What times we live in.

I mean, given that one of my precious friends is 'Frenchy' who used to post on here regularly then maybe I shouldn't have stereotyped the French based on that bloke's comment. As for Maradona and his 'Hand of God', that also shouldn't make me stereotype them all as cheats. But it's often the small things in life that sway our thinking. Anyway, apart from the politics and corruption of the Qatar WC, it's been a fantastic tournament with an ending that could never be surpassed. And looking at the celebrations going on in Argentina, it's brilliant that with terrible inflation rates battering them, they've got something to make them joyful for a change. BTW, talking of small things that affect us, because of you and your affiliation with Bristol Rovers, they're one of the first results I look for on a Saturday. So bugger off! OS.

I'd hazard a guess that a lot of those Argentinians in Doha were people who've emigrated over the years and now live in Europe or elsewhere around the globe.

Jealous of the Argies. Supposedly 4m watching their trophy parade - and it looks a beautiful day for it.
We're probably better saving it for a summer world cup.

So Messi sleeps with the lights on and gives his camera to the bed bugs? Another example of how contrived and artificial a lot of social media is.

And of course there’s a video going round of Infantino in his restaurant lapping up the “spectacle” and calling him a legend etc. I don’t think anyone taken in or impressed by a talentless charlatan like Salt fuckin Bae has any right to have their judgement trusted on anything. If anything I’d say it should automatically disqualify you from any senior position which involves using your brain on the grounds of being a complete fucking moron. No wonder FIFA and that ceremony was such a complete mess
