View AttachmentProud photo for the family. Quite apt that I've found him to be a massive throbber for a while now. He’s shown himself up this tournament irrespective of his goalkeeping.

I thought he was going to be getting on the stage with them to celebrate He sure milked his moment for all he was worth, didn't he! And we thought Blatter was bad.

Just seen a clip of Messi on the news lifting the trophy, why was he wearing a see through negligee?

Cameroon beat Argentina in the first game in 1990 but Germany beat them in the final. Obviously gone one better this time. Always remember this cracking “tackle” on Caniggia in that game🤣 Got the ball there 😜

Why do people seem to dislike Mbappe? I know nothing about the man apart from that he's quite good at football and seems to have been around forever.

That might not be a bad thing for a goalkeeper who plays in high stakes games, but he definitely isn't someone I would want to have dinner with.

I might be wrong, but he’s spent quite a long time living in England. So much so that was he being touted as a potential England keeper?

Pictures ruined forever by people who have no clue about football dressing him in that stupid robe! 🤦♂️ Yep, corporate bellends and non-football people ruining a moment that should’ve been iconic. That silly nightgown ruined the photo people were waiting for Totally commercialised a moment in football history On r/soccer a Canadian who has been living in Qatar for 15 years said that the Emir giving Messi that robe was the highest honor he could bestow. The commenter said s/he gasped when it happened because it is such a rare and high honor. It was basically like the Emir knighting Messi. Not a commercial moment.

Just seen a clip of Messi on the news lifting the trophy, why was he wearing a see through negligee? It is a Bisht. The body veil is a traditional Arabic cloak that has been worn by males for many thousands of years. Looks like sportswashing by the Qataris to try and deflect from this being one of the most controversial World Cups ever.

All I know is that I saw some great movement of a football all over that pitch. Mbappe holy hell what a game. Still wrapping my head around it - enjoyable.
Scintillating? (I think that's the word)

It reminds me of the presentations in the Blatter era. As though the FIFA Presidents are desperate to hold up the trophy themselves.
I would have been tempted to take that robe thing off and drape it over Mr Infantino’s head 🙂

It was sports washing at it's most ugliest. The moment was for Messi and Argentina NOT Qatar. Messi and Argentina were robbed of those iconic pictures, pictures he can never get back. Can you imagine how Bobby Moore would have felt if he had been forced to wear something similar covering the Three Lions badge when he lifted the trophy in '66? This was an absolute disgrace and Infantino should consider his position for being complicit in the whole sorry affair.

While I know where you’re coming from and agree to an extent, I think the pictures will end up being all the more iconic for it. And Messi didn’t seem to care one bit tbf. But yeah it was a seriously arrogant, or at best a bad lack of judgement

I think Messi was put in an incredibly awkward position, not knowing what or who he may offend by removing it. Then again, I would have thrown it off before lifting the trophy.
