Tom Soares, especially after the spurs at home I thought he would go onto bigger things.
Away from Stoke Gareth Bale I thought was shit after Mama and Soares tore him apart
Obviously I know nothing about football

Harry Kane but I still don’t want him in the England team particularly. 😂 You're bonkers

Which players were you wrong about? The stand out ones. For me I couldn't see what Jon Walters gave us in the early days. Fast forward a few season and what a plonker I looked.😆 Finally a thread that Bayern can’t post on. Yes he can, but won’t………. VERLINDEN

The only real positive I thought at the time we signed Mike Sheron was that we'd managed to shift Keith Scott.
Sheron seemed to have lost his way after his early promise at Man City and i didn't think he'd do anything special for us.

Mark Stein. Came back from a long stint working abroad. We played at Hull then Chester I think at Macclesfield Town. Maybe it ended 0-0 and I commented to my mate how rubbish he was missing some chances. The rest is History

John Tudor when he came from Castle. Think he scored twice in one game then I can't remember him scoring again

Stand out for me is Mike Sheron. Swapped him for Keith Scott. Sold him for £2.75m. If you saw Keith Scott play you’d understand 😂

So Bayerns contribution to this thread was to reluctantly name a player he was wrong about and then go to great lengths to explain why he was actually right 😂

Gerry Taggart. I'd seen him cone on as a sub against us,and get sent off almost straight away. Saw him as past it and a liability Proved me totally wrong from game 1 and went on to 'sort' that scrote Denis Wise...Gerry Taggart - Stoke City Legend!

Imbula looked a class act for a very short period and then his form and effort seemed to fall off the edge of a cliff. Bournemouth away was definitely the 'peak'. He looked mustard. Then again, I detest mustard, so it all fits.

When we signed Steino on loan i was underwhelmed. He went on to become my favourite Sroke player ever.

It’s quite easy to tell a good or bad player these days If Bayern says they’re bad they’ll be good If Bayern says they’re good then they’ll end at some random small time club Pretty simple really 😁😁

Tom Edwards? I thought he had real potential and was one of the few we kept on from the Premier League. But no manager since then has fancied him. Isn’t he now in the States or somewhere trying to salvage his career?

John Guidetti.
But at the same time, Hughes only started him in 6 games the 2014 season, so maybe he wasn't given the chance. He still wants answers why btw.
In the 2011-12 season at Feyernoord in the Dutch League he scored 20 goals in 23 games. That's why Stoke wanted him in 2014 - even though he didn't play a single game in 2013! Injured in some way.
He won the Euro U21 Champs in 2015 and has played for eight professional football clubs during his career, the first one being Manchester City. Others have been Celtic, Hannover 96, Celta Vigo and Alavés for instance.
He's now 30 and back in Sweden, playing for AIK in Allsvenskan (our top division). Scored by a header last time in the winning game vs Djurgården. And speculations started in the media if he'll be back in our National team from now on.
He started his football career at BP (Brommapojkarna), and thereby he's now back in the same area (Stockholm) as he once began playing football.
Maybe it will be his last club - unless Stoke will give him another chance. He still wants to know why he wasn't given more game time.
At the same time, he still has something to prove to me, in our National team.

Richard Cresswell when he signed, I truly believed we had taken a step forward and he was going to be a legend, I went out had bought a new shirt with his name on. i think i saw him play once, before he joined stoke and that he was next level...looking at his record at all his clubs now, i have no idea why i thought that... Never had a player name on a shirt since He was a decent player for us when he played. Yep huge part in our promotion season

Pericard (He played for Juve you know), Palacious, John Carew, Wilfred Bony. Players I thought would really make a big difference. Years Team Apps (Gls) 1999–2000 Saint-Étienne 2 (0) 2000–2002 Juventus 0 (0) 2002–2003 → Portsmouth (loan) 32 (9) 2003–2006 Portsmouth 12 (0) 2005 → Sheffield United (loan) 11 (2) 2006 → Plymouth Argyle (loan) 15 (4) 2006–2009 Stoke City 38 (2) 2008 → Southampton (loan) 5 (0) 2009 → Millwall (loan) 2 (0) 2009–2010 Carlisle United 10 (4) 2010–2011 Swindon Town 32 (2) 2011–2012 Havant & Waterlooville 5 (0) 2015 Moneyfields 1 (0) Total 165 (23) Vincent Péricard's stats... i would expect to see more career goals from a CB. How did he keep finding clubs to sign him!?

Going back a couple of pages, Kitson actually was very good. I'll just say the manager at the time didn't get that out of him.

Sheron seemed to have lost his way after his early promise at Man City and i didn't think he'd do anything special for us. We got lucky there as Martin O'Neill had Scott at Wycombe and really wanted him at Norwich. He offered us Sheron not the other way round as Sheron was still commuting to Norwich and wanted away.
