Which players were you wrong about? The stand out ones. For me I couldn't see what Jon Walters gave us in the early days. Fast forward a few season and what a plonker I looked.π

Fast forward a few season and what a plonker I looked.π Recall being excited when we signed Kyle Lightbourne and thought he'd be an absolute goal machine. Thought the signing of Odemwingie was a bottom of the barrel desperation signing at the time as well. It shamefully took me a while to realise Rory was more than a throw in as well. Think he was arguably a better all-round player for us in the Prem than he was in the Championship.

It's a shame because its probably all he will ever be remembered for.

Think I was pretty underwhelmed about Sorro. Wasnβt he without a club at the time? I thought he was a bit of a washed-up ageing pro and we needed better

I thought Wilfried Bony (based on his link up play, goals etc. while a Swansea player) with Bojan, Arnie and Shaqiri just behind him would have been the final piece of the jigsaw.
Likewise, Palacios coming in as the long-term upgrade for Whelan, Whitehead and Delap.

I thought Wilfred Bony was going to bang them inΒ When the loan deal looked to have collapsed, Hughes was getting destroyed on here. He was a disgrace

Greenacre. I remember caravaning with my Grandad and hearing the news. I was really excited that weβd finally get someone who could regularly put the ball in the net.

Actually he was one I was right about. A certain person on here gave me constant stick about not being too keen on us signing him and built him up after every game he got subbed in as not his fault etc π When he eventually scored at Sheff U was a long....told u so comment

A recent example is Tymon, at one point it didnβt look like heβd make it in professional football and now heβs one of the best wing backs in the Championship.

Howard Kendall, I thought he was past it, he turned out to be very good for us.
I've lost count of the signings I got excited about which turned out to be underwhelming.

I generally give our players backing at the match as it seems weird not to. But if we're talking 'players I judged wrong' then I'm wrong all the time. I have been wrong about Fosu and Fox based on last couple of games. I thought Philogene Bidace was a season-changing signing - after one game Was buzzing for Palacios too. I'm worried that Bursik is significantly worse than he first seemed...and that Flint is no good as indeed was the case in first few games. Regarding Rory I think the opposite of what some have said - the throw was much more effective and became more prominent in his game IN the prem as defences were less tall and more cultured. Still makes me laugh watching Arsenal game reruns from those times.

Yes agree re Lightbourne went to Bury to see his debut but got David Xuaser instead although I think he would of been decent for us seemed to make runs that we were too slow to react to. 100% about Rory so much better than a throw and his all round play was excellent.

Richard Cresswell
when he signed, I truly believed we had taken a step forward and he was going to be a legend, I went out had bought a new shirt with his name on.
i think i saw him play once, before he joined stoke and that he was next level...looking at his record at all his clubs now, i have no idea why i thought that... Never had a player name on a shirt since

Pericard (He played for Juve you know), Palacious, John Carew, Wilfred Bony. Players I thought would really make a big difference.
