I have no issue with ever sacking a manager if someone with the right pedigree is ready to step in. Said the same when Hughes was sacked, however if Holden is the replacement it’s totally and utterly pointless. It needs to be the whole team (O’Shea aside) that goes including Rory……… Definitely true that the club absolutely has to get the replacement right. Did you see anything improving under MON at this point though? We'd got to the stage we'd got to with Pulis/Hughes/Rowett/Jones IMO, he just had to go, we'd reached the point of no return.

I wonder if Paul Lambert fancies coming back. That was my first thought as well.

I hope we make a good appointment but this decision was overdue and entirely predictable months ago.

Sad news because as a bloke I thought he was a top fellow BUT the writing was on the wall after the last 2 home performances and his reaction to the crowd booing during the Middlesbrough game.MASSIVE MASSIVE decision now for the Coates family because it’s the whole structure of the football side

Why didn't we sack him when there were decent managers available? It was the most obvious thing in the world that he had to go Plenty available at the end of the season. Now the new manager has less than a week to get any player in he can. Ridiculous

Mowbray would kill my soul

Rory will stay to avoid his son downing tools…….

I think that when on back to back radio interviews you are criticising the crowd (after Boro), then when asked about flexibility with formations, he states he’s not signed players to play a 442 or not being able to get quality in to challenge, then it’s walk the plank?
Best of luck to him & again we are grateful but I believe this is the correct decision.

Carrick would be amazing. Sarina Weigman? Wouldn’t it be ironic that rough old Stoke became the most forward thinking club in the world 😎 Would take her all day long.

It is the correct decision. Stoke City is in a better place, as a football club, away from the league table, but the product being produced became turgid which is reflected in the poor league position, and essentially, it’s a results business.
He will find work quite easily, especially as DoF, but I’m excited to see who we bring in and hopefully bringing more energetic and entertaining football.

Ridiculous It's not the best timing but it does give the new manager time to slightly tweak things if he's going to play 4 at the back.

One would hope they have a list of candidates and have sounded some out before the announcement.

Ridiculous Perfectly reasonable post however convinced we don't need a bunch of new players any half decent manager should be bale to get more, much more, out of the players we have

Great news, bizarre timing but the right thing to do.
