Mowbray? Robins? Carrick? Genuinely no idea Warburton out of work too. Critchley from his assistant manager post at Villa? MK Dons aren’t doing as well as last season, maybe Liam Manning jumps at the chance? He’s a divisive character but for player development Barton would be an interesting one. Paul Warne, if we can poach a manager, would be good.

Carrick would be amazing.
Sarina Weigman? Wouldn’t it be ironic that rough old Stoke became the most forward thinking club in the world 😎

Thanks to MoN he has helped to turn the rotting ship along with Jones. And its now time to get the next level manager in to take this decent group of lads to that level. Good luck to his future endeavours. Favourite according to talksport is Daniel Farke ... YES PLEASE! Isn’t he…like top of the Bundesliga?? Or near it? Managing Gladbach, no way he comes here

Fantastic news. Well done the Coates family. Sacking a manager for the fifth time in four seasons. Four days before the transfer window closes. Yeah, cracking work 👏

Mixed feelings on this one.
I really liked that he gave a lot of playing time to young players.
On the other hand though, last season I travelled from Coventry to watch 3 games, paid 85 quid for the ticket prices alone, and was rewarded with a grand total of 3 shots on target by Stoke in return!
(Resulting in one goal and one point.)
The utter lack of value for money had completely put me off coming to watch Stoke again.

Did a very good job in keeping us up and for that I’m grateful. We were doomed and he came and played with real positivity. Also not an easy job given the squad he inherited and managed to clear some deadwood out (combined effort I’d imagine)
Unfortunately things weren’t going right and we need to be competing at the other end of the table.
As always you need to make a good appointment - can we get it right this time?

How has this been allowed to leak with nothing official from the club? Poor management of it all.

I have no issue with ever sacking a manager if someone with the right pedigree is ready to step in. Said the same when Hughes was sacked, however if Holden is the replacement it’s totally and utterly pointless.
It needs to be the whole team (O’Shea aside) that goes including Rory………

I think Chopper said they have interviewed 3 people so they must be out of work, he also said Dyche had turned us down

Yeah, something has happened since the weekend to drive this. Timing wise I can only think it’s maybe the Matt Clarke deal? One minute we were leading the race, next minute he’s gone Boro? i think it was the frankly inane and insane comments after Saturday's match that have done for him. It was every inch a Hughesy, 'who else is going to do it' end of the road valedictory rant.

The timing is appalling but giving him an entire transfer window near enough to build a specific kind of squad and then sacking him is daft. It's the right call to get rid, it's just months too late.

Absolutely bizarre timing.
Why give him all summer to try and reshape the squad then sack him with a week left in the transfer window giving his successor next to no time to make the changes they want to make?
Why sack him on a Thursday after he's been prepping the side for Saturday?
You'd hope they've got someone lined up to replace him within the week (Dyche?) but my fear is that they'll give it to Holden.

Sad it went so wrong with MON after such a great start but this is the right decision - should have happened in summer though.

Good luck for the future MoN, saved the club in 2019 from the abyss
Hasnt worked out for the last 18 months so a good decision, albeit an odd time to do it

Well thanks for keeping us up MON.
We played some great football in your first season.
From then on, you were seemingly scared of your own shadow, for which I’ll never understand why.
All the best, but the right decision for all parties.

I’ll be happy once his replacement is announced.
I have no faith in the board getting this appointment right.
Out of the options it would have to be Dyche but not sure I’d be happy with that (also rumours he’s turned us down)
Steve Cooper equivalents please step on down.
It’s a shame it’s ended like this, that first season I thought we’d struck gold with how he rescued us and the way we were playing. Shame he didn’t carry it on.
Let’s not forget he’s been instrumental in keeping some of our youth players at the club and bringing a youthfulness to the team.
But the right decision for all parties.
