Stoke City have sacked Michael O'Neill following the club's poor start to the Championship season.
O'Neill has overseen one victory from five games this season and his team lost at home at the weekend to newly promoted Sunderland, leaving them 21st in the table.
It means the club will start looking at new candidates for the role and it could bring the likes of Sean Dyche into the running following his dismissal at Burnley last season.
More to follow.

Shame they didn’t do it at the end of last season but this is fantastic news. We need a new manager in asap. Still a week of the window left

He’s been in this morning to say bye to the players. As far as I’ve been told dyche has turned us down. Already interviewed 3 other managers. Breathes a sigh of relief or does he if that’s the type they’re looking at again ffs.

Thanks to MoN he has helped to turn the rotting ship along with Jones. And its now time to get the next level manager in to take this decent group of lads to that level. Good luck to his future endeavours.
Favourite according to talksport is Daniel Farke ... YES PLEASE!

Bloody hell. I didn't expect to see this news today.
The right decision in the end. We were going nowhere fast with him in charge.

If it's true, thank you MON, great stuff saving us, and some wonderful football in the first season. It's a results game and football is ruthless, i wish him well in the future. Exactly this. It clearly wasn’t working but he deserves credit for saving us

I’d hold fire and see who’s coming in to replace him before you start celebrating Holden Exactly. If MoN has gone then I hope the coaches have followed him. They are just as much to blame.

Don’t get any pleasure out of seeing him go as he’s a good guy but he was taking us down. I’m not interested in us getting someone off the merry go round just someone who gets us playing to our strengths. I’d go for someone a bit left field like this guy www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team/staff/pepijn-lijnders

Why didn't we sack him when there were decent managers available? It was the most obvious thing in the world that he had to go
